Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

I don't know if it's been mentioned on here (I can't be bothered to look) but Stranger Things is a great series. Although you'll need to have Netflix to watch it.
Yeah, it's been mentioned couple of times

And while I myself have Netflix, I'm pretty sure that there are many other ways to watch it

So we've seen a huge influx of time travelling tv shows this season, you've got "Frequency", "Timeless" and last, but not least "Travelers".

A common theme about most of them; they suck balls. Not one of them can touch the brilliance of 12 monkeys which is time travel and scifi as good as any, truly a great series.

I tried giving "Frequency" and "Timeless" a go, just had to give up. Zero charm, zero plot, zero fun and shit characters. Then I stumbled upon one that hardly has been mentioned, "Travelers". It seems like it is made for adults, as opposed to "Frequency" and "Timeless" which seems to be some kids \ tweens series.

It is made by the guy that created the entire Stargate franchise and is by far the best of the lot. Some good acting going on, interesting characters and a cool spin on the whole time travel thing with the minds of people from the future being downloaded into people who lives in 2016, with the implications of having to live the life of their subjects, while at the same time do what they came for; stop the world from ending in some huge event which isn't explained yet.

I highly recommend it, I watched all the five episodes currently available on the trot, liked it instantly instead of the normal 3-4 episode period you have to go through to decide. Together with the Exorcist my favourite new show from this years releases (saving up Westworld to binge it.) Another thing I like about it is the pacing, the episodes are well put together and holds your attention. For me the true test of a series is if I start to surf on my phone and post shit on the caf while watching, this one kept me away from the phone and held my attention.

It currently airs on Canadian Showcase, but will be coming to Netflix very soon (it is listed as a Netflix show, no idea why Showcase shows it first). All episodes can of course be acquired elsewhere as well. Currently 5 eps available.

I've seen the whole season now and it is quite decent, disagree on it being better than Continuum though. It is a decent filler while we wait for the Mac Daddy of all time travel shows, 12 monkeys, to return.

Did 9 eps today and it is above average , I have read it has been cancelled.
I have not seen Continuum, maybe I should.

Anyone try Netflix's new show, Santa Clarita Diet? Watched a couple of episodes and it's pretty good. Like a fun version of Dexter. Lot of recognisable names in it too; Drew Barrymore, Timothy Olyphant, Nathan Fillion, Patton Oswalt, Andy Richter, Waitress from Always Sunny.

A very good ending to season 1 but hugely pissed off that ot looks like season 2 wont happen.

Santa Clara Diet is getting good reviews. Is it actually any good?

Watched the first two episodes, ain't really for me. Plenty seem to be enjoying it though. It's a comedy/horror combo.

It's kind of a guilty pleasure for me. It's incredibly silly but grew on me and the actors work quite well together after a while. All in all a good watch, the ending's a bit shit though.

I need something to watch on Netflix, with the missus.

So far the only series we've both watched and enjoyed were Stranger Things and Love.

Started watching Easy and Master of None on recommendations of friends but not really feeling either of them.

Help!
I assume you've seen House of Cards and Narcos? They're the two must watches.

Orange is the New Black is good and your missus will probably like it

I'm not a fan of political drama and the other half doesn't like too much violence/gore. Which, sadly, rules out the two must watches. And explains why we're struggling for content!

OITNB just doesn't appeal to me tbh. But we may have to give a go. Is it better than it seems from reading synopses?

yeah it's actually a really good show, from the synopsis you'd think it's geared towards women but there are some great male characters in it too. It's sort of Oz-lite mixed with lesbians and comedy. What more could you want?

Also politics doesn't interest me either but House of Cards is great, silly entertainment. I had no real interest in dragons either but I love Game of Thrones, or a meth-cooking chemistry teacher but I loved Breaking Bad. You get the picture.

Line of Duty is a fantastic British procedural cop show, best British show in years for my reckoning if you haven't seen it yet.

OITNB is good - though the first episode is a little off-putting due to being somewhat soapy. Others I'd recommend are Luther, Suits, Fargo, Dexter and Peaky Blinders.

Cool. I reckon we need to bite the bullet and give House of Cards a crack.

There was a time when I was complaining about House of Cards, or some characters and plot developments more specifically, being so unrealistic. Now after the Trump election and everything that has followed, I've been starting to think some of the characters and plots actually weren't realistic enough.

I assume you've already seen Mad Men by the way? In my opinion it's a notch above House of Cards, and comfortably one of the best TV shows of the last 20 years. Great story, great acting, incredible eye for detail, so many layers of sublety and poignancy on top of that. Women love it too, as a matter of fact I've yet to meet someone with decent taste who wasn't completely in awe with it after the first eight episodes or so.

Master of None grew on me as the season progressed. Big fan of Ansari though, so I'm probably biased.

If you're into food/docs, chef's table is superb viewing.

He's a really funny/likeable guy. Which has made me stick with it for as long as I have (3 episodes) I just find a lot of the jokes fall flat. Although that may be because they seem to be aimed at different people to me (New York hipster kids of immigrant parents)

Chef's table is very good.

Bloodline is excellent. Rectify as well, but don't think it's on Netflix. Two southern dramas, which seems to be the thing now. And I love You're The Worst, which is sort of a comedy, but really a drama about broken people and relationships.

And you should give House Of Cards a go.

Black Mirror.

Finished Love/Hate. Had some good moments, but meh, there's better TV out there.

Watching this at the moment... :D

I'd recommend Death Note if you haven't seen it. Forget that it is an anime and give it a couple of episodes just like any normal show and you'll be hooked.

There is also a very underrated show called Lost Room though not in Netflix. Can stream.

There are 2 documentaries on wine, Somm and Sour Grapes..both very good. Available in Netflix.

I've seen Sour Grapes. It's excellent.

Downloaded Incorporated today, the premise looks interesting with an evil all-powerfull corporation and a bit of scifi tossed in there.

What the hell is MacGyver ? Reboot, I thought the original was pretty shite, but this... fecking hell, about 100 times worse and I've only seen 10 minutes. However I will power through the entire episode as I have nothing better to do.

Finished SouthLAnd last night, an excellent police drama I'd definitely recommend watching. Has an almost documentary feel to it at times with the way the camera work is done when following the cops around, really very very good.

Good stuff I've had that on the list for some time.

If you're struggling for things to follow up with, The Americans is decent and on Amazon Prime if you still have it.

The first few episodes I was a bit frustrated with swearing being bleeped out but after a while I felt it actually added to the feeling of watching some kind of documentary and made it all feel a bit more real.

My Prime trial is over and I wasn't impressed so won't be paying for it, will check alternative sources though!

Anyone heard much about this new show Legion? Apparently it's part of the Marvel universe and based on an X-Men character!?

Totally popped up out of nowhere!
