Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

The Night Of

A new HBO show about a nerdy kid who gets set up with murder. Only the pilot out for now, but I'm interested. Definitely has big potential.

I saw the pilot and yes it was quite good, any idea when episode 2 airs?

What we've seen was a leaked pilot, which is officially out on the 11th of July. So the second one will be out on the 18th.

Maybe a new thread for the show should be made, I think it's the type of show the Caf loves.

I had not watched a whole season of The Office (US) before a couple of weeks ago when I started it on Netflix. Absolutely loving it! I'm on the last season. Sure it lost a huge deal when Michael left, but Andy + Erin is adorable, Creed keeps being awesome and I wish I had watched it before.

Loved US version of Office. Found it better than US version. Erin is such a weirdly positive character. If happiness was a person, it would be her

I hated Andy in the US version of the Office, thought he was an awful character, but overall it's a brilliant show. Season 2-4 (maybe 5) are US comedy at its best.

Yeah, Ellie Kemper. She's the star of another show on Netflix, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt which is quite quirky and funny.

I thought he was a brilliant character in season 3, with the head to heads with Dwight, anger issues and sucking up to Michael. They changed him majorly though, I assume through market research of some sort which is a shame.

Yup. Watched that show just because of her and because Tina Fey is the writer

He was ok at first (I wouldn't say 'brilliant' though) but took a turn for the worse as seasons went by. He was detestable by the end of the show.

Currently watching Mad Men and I can't get the "Bye Bye Birdie" song out of my head. It's embarrassing:nervous:

Has anyone seen Ballers? What did you make of it?
The Rock tried to create a smart and complicated football character and it looks cringeworthy
But it's alright. Not great, but it's watchable as a filler. The Entourage comparison is very apt

Starting Unbreakable Jimmie Schmidt. Gonna watch it as an origin story for Erin :D

edit: Who the feck is Jimmie Schmidt?!

This. He became awful when Michael left. They seemed to write him as the new Michael and it was weird.

Pre-anger management Andy was great, when he was a bit of a prick.

I'm in the middle of rewatching the US Office. About halfway through season 6 now, which is way past the point I thought I'd last. Can't remember exactly when it turned to shit so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

The series became average once Michael left. There was less of crap going on between Jim and dwight. They became pretty 'harmonious' and that was detrimental IMO

The whole show became average (if not awful) when Michael left. They dragged it out further that they should've and the loss of the main character was the final blow for them.

Very true. It became difficult to watch once Michael left, and they shouldn't have done it without them. US sitcoms have a knack for outstaying their welcome even after the main character is gone.

Michael's exit should have been the end of it, even though they were pushing it in Michael's final season or two anyway.

Can anyone recommend if I should persist with Horace and Pete? I just saw the hour long pilot and it's just such a bizarre show. Bit of everything, but hard to decide why the critics love it so much.

'The Night Of' looks promising based on the first episode. It's HBO, and has John Turturro.

I wish it was a Netflix thing so I could binge it though...

Posting here since all Mad Men threads are bit shit, and I don't want to see any spoilers.

Great show, fourth season at the moment for me, Roger Sterling is fecking brilliant.

I wasn't expecting much from Animal Kingdom but I quite like it so far

I just watched The Night Of too and thought it was great. Could potentially be a classic based on what we've seen so far in the first episode. I liked the way you could see all the evidence building up against Nas as the episode progressed

Caught up with The Americans. It's a really good show, no great drama or goosebumps moments but consistently excellent.

I find it a bit tame. Mildly interesting but nothing remotely gripping, which is odd given it's a thriller.
