Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Eh, a couple of us were raving about it a few weeks back! It was really good, the penultimate episode probably being my favourite. Laurie and Hollander owned those roles, especially Laurie. What a performance!

I was going to start a thread but never got round to it. Was excellent.

Surprised I haven't seen a shout for The Night Manager, an excellent 6 part Le Carre (Tinker Tailor/Constant Gardener) adaptation starring Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Coleman, Tom Hollander, David Harewood and Hugh Laurie smashing it as an evil plum voiced gun running war monger... Beeb drama at it's very best.
We talked about it before actually, I enjoyed it a lot. It has been a great year so far for miniseries in general. The Night Manager, And Then There Were None, Mad Dogs (US remake), 11.22.63, American Crime Story, and Hap & Leonard.

Somewhat related to this thread...has anyone who uses Showbox found that it's gone to shit in the last week? Nothing is working.

I expected more from it, considering the array of acting talent on show. Still enjoyed it.

Horace and Pete were brilliant too. And Baskets. Really good year for a TV

Are Hap and Leonard any good? I watched like 3 episodes but it was very boring

I've watched only 3 episodes too and I thought it was okay. Nothing great so far but the cast is really good and the dialogue is decent. It's not nearly as exciting as the premise makes it sound to be, so it's disappointing in that regard.

"Very" was probably an exaggeration from me, but I expected much more from it - Sundence TV, great cast, so my expectations were very high - especially considering the great and complex comedy projects from this season like Horace and Pete and Baskets.

Also I feel that they choose the wrong format - the show would've been better if it was 20/30 minutes per episode and not a full 45 minutes

Yea, maybe you're right about the format. It does seem to have pacing issues with episodes being ~45 mins long. I expected something similar to Justified in tone and maybe quality, but it really hasn't been that so far.

Completed watching Banshee S3, Its good never slows down at any point, some of the character( red Indian or Nola) could have been carried to S4.

Anyone watching The Girlfriend Experience? :nervous:

I've seen 4.

In the first episode there is a scene where Riley Keough's boss gives her a lecture and he actually says "we don't give a shit about your grandpa", bastards.

It seems to have had generally positive reviews but I'm not really swayed either way yet, at this point it feels like the groundwork has been laid and the main narrative is about to kick in.

Is she playing herself? Or is it just an Easter egg?

Any idea on when Person Of Interest will be back ? This is reported to be the last season, which is a shame coz I quite liked it.

Watched the first 2 episodes last night, thought it was brilliant, laughed out loud a few times, thanks for the tip !!!

Don't get me wrong, it is brilliant. The dialogues and acting are great. I don't want to go further into it in case I may spoil anything for you.

So I've finished The Sopranos. All in all a great show, definitely. Well-acted, good writing but it doesn't beat The Wire for me. Far too much filler involving Carmela, all of Tony's goomars, the psychiatrist Melfi, his awful sister Janice etc. That's also why I'm not keen on watching it a second time in the future while on the other hand I'm tempted to watch The Wire for the 3rd time. Let's be honest, the mob stuff itself was the most entertaining part of the show but the rest became quite dull at some point. I guess I rank it on the same level as Mad Men and Breaking Bad but below True Detective season 1 which on its turn is below The Wire, the very best TV show ever as far as I'm concerned.
By the way, the native Italian mobsters were hardcore as feck.

It's funny but I felt the same about The Wire. I loved all the street stuff on the show because it looked and sounded real, but everything to do with cops, politicians, longshoremen or fifth estate left me quite bored.

Fair enough. I guess they should just make a show about criminals only.

Well, yes. They're the most interesting and upredictable characters. The reason you don't want anything to do with them in real life is exactly why you enjoy watching them on TV.

Season 2 of Bosch on Amazon instant prime has been excellent so far and I only have one episode left. A must watch for those who liked season one. This season is even better!

Those that like a superhero-ish TV show, I would recommend Stan Lee's Lucky Man. The series produced by Beebs starts out slow and I nearly gave up on it after 3 episodes. But if you persist with it, it ends up being quite enjoyable. Even though it's supposed to be a crime procedural, which isn't all too bad for this show, the bigger story is more engrossing and shot pretty well and acted out decently. Worth a watch.

Edit: Love the soundtrack.

I'd suggest The Path for anyone wanting to watch something new. It's got a fairly big name cast in it too. It's about a cult/'movement' and the people within them

Just watched both seasons of Top Boy on Netflix. Absolutely gutted it's not been commissioned for a third series - left it at such a random time clearly with intention of closing the loop in the next season.
