Antony (out) | LOAN to Real Betis

If it's going to help us sign a player to replace him then I'm all for it, but then if we're still paying his wages I'm not sure how it will do that.

Let's see what happens though.

One of the most expensive signings in PL history going out on loan to fecking Real Betis who we’ll probably cover most of his wage

What a mess

Surely we can't be letting him go without replacements coming in. We are short of attackers as it is

He offers nothing in attacking sense so it’s not really a loss if no one replaced him. I’d hope it would help us bring a player maybe at LWB though.

He’s fecking useless other than a bit of work rate. On the ball he offers nothing. Give his place to a youth player - the least they should do is put a shift in.

Agree, my point was that you'd hope they have some incomings planned if they are allowing outgoings

One of the stupidest transfer fees ever. Should have been £50m absolute maximum for him but Arnold and Murtough were taught well by Woodward.

Hopefully he does well there. Contract until 2027 with us so 2 more years to go after this loan. And with him and Malacia leaving, we should get a wingback now.

The fact we are going to be paying two wingers who cost 150m to play for other clubs for the rest of the season sums up why we are in such a mess.

I hope Rashford follows, and probably Garnacho. Zirkzee and Hojlund will then see what awaits them in the near future if they don't find a way to start bringing the goods.

Isco appears to be their highest paid player on £100k a week
Good luck to him, hopefully he puts himself in the shop window, otherwise I forsee another 2 years of loans...

Think it's a bit of a stupid move really. They're never going to buy him, not even paying half his wages and we actually need bodies for the final 4 months as we could qualify in the EL and may get to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

He's shit but we will need to rest players at points and we have zero options now.

This man can't beat a man, place a pass, can't tackle, can't score, can't cross. What exactly does he add to the squad? I'd rather we took a punt on an academy player at this stage than continue with Antony.

There is no buy clause? I dont like Antony at all but without a buy clause, it makes little sense to loan him out when we have such a thin squad

I think we have decided to loan him out permanently until his deal lapses. We can't sell him for a figure that won't hurt our PSR status, saving anything on his wages will be a small positive and the big hope is that he does well enough to attract more serious interest.

Whatever he could have contributed, a youth player can do.

I thought I saw a Romano tweet saying we'll be active to replace him if he leaves so if that's the case fear not.

Looks like he’s played his last game for us, Betis is good move for him and a chance to get himself a better loan or maybe even a teacher in the summer.
