Antony (out) | LOAN to Real Betis

Without an option to buy, and with Betis covering less than half his salary, this deal only makes sense if we can somehow bring in a better replacement. Otherwise, we’re simply losing a player from the rotation.
Unless, of course, he manages to revive his career...

Ranks as our worst ever signing for me, which is quite the achievement given how many appalling signings we've made. Hope he does well anyway, just to increase the chances of getting rid permanently

looks like we simply want him to play some games and see if he can get some sort of confidence back. I’m not against the move as such, just hope it doesn’t bite us on the arse.

Let’s be honest though, same as Rashford - he’s never going to play here anyway.

Our worst ever signing. I am confident he will be back in the summer and we will struggle to loan him out again.

2 seasons out on loan before leaving on a free. I just hope that if he tears it up Lingard at West Ham style that we take the fecking money this time.

Yeah he's the worst.

He's our 2nd most expensive transfer in history... and of the 200 or so players to have ever made an appearance for us in the Premier League, there's probably been 190 that are better then him.

I like Antony think he had been treated badly here, he was in the Brazilian national team and a good winger when he came here. Hope he shows his true self at a new club.
I am joking he is a shocking signing.

I think there are penalties in place if he doesn't play a certain amount of games so we are clearly paying for him to play in the hope he gets a few goals.

I think it's positive and I hope he will do well there, so we can permanently get rid of him next summer. Happy to not see him again.

Hopefully he can do well on loan in Span and we can recoup at least some of our money, but I have a bad feeling it will be like Martial where they can't wait to send him back fast enough and he becomes more or less valueless.

Now that this chapter is closed, I feel comfortable saying this is the worst transfer in the history of the club and one of the worst transfers in football. For a long time I thought there's no outdoing Sanchez, but at this club it can always get worse - Van de Beek, Sancho, Mount. Very impressive.

Then we get paid with the penalty clause

I reckon we'll end up getting a fee for him in the summer

only like 15 million or something crap, but seems possibly compared to some of the other shite we're flogging

We're surely hoping that he'll be in a better shop window there than he is here.

The fact that he’s had minutes recently makes me think that there must be someone coming externally to replace him in the squad. Otherwise what would be the point in having him as an option.

Which might be a big ask if he’s not top league standard. Quite curious to see how he does there, tbh.
Will probably tear it up and then declare he wants to prove himself at Utd (when the alternative is taking a pay cut)

I could also see Eriksen filling that role of coming in for 15-30 minutes here and there.

Think it's a bit of a stupid move really. They're never going to buy him, not even paying half his wages and we actually need bodies for the final 4 months as we could qualify in the EL and may get to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

He's shit but we will need to rest players at points and we have zero options now.
He's got 1 goal, 0 assists this season, and the goal came against Barnsley. He's not making any contribution. Would likely only play in a handful of games with us the rest of the season.

He's still owed another £25M in salary over the next 2.5 years. If there's any chance playing elsewhere can rehabilitate his value enough to sell him this summer that potential savings dwarfs any value we'd get from having him around. We can always bring in a loan ourselves that will contribute as much as he does.

He just needs to be playing football. Happy for him.

Away from England he can get some minutes and start enjoying football again. He is always going to be criticised, even when he isn't starting games and only appearing for a few cameos he gets slaughtered.

So a loan away from United is just what he needs.

Is he really needed in a rotation? He's utterly useless to United at this point. Barely plays and when he does he offers nothing and loses value every time he puts in another dismal performance.

Might as well hope he has a few months on loan somewhere and you can convince some club to take him off your hands.

Will follow him at Betis, wish him all the best. His United career is over I'd say, just not been good enough or anywhere near. First months looked promising but some limitations were visible.

At Ajax, he was one of the best players in the team both Eredivisie and CL. He had serious interest from Bayern, PSG and Arsenal as well. Was doing quite well for the NT, there is a player in there but his confidence and mentality seem really really bad though he shows workrate. Probably also not the smartest person.
