That position as given a couple of players a lifeline. Amad started there and performed well. Antony as been coming of the bench there and doing well.
 
I'd keep giving him runouts in that RWB position provided he doesn't suddenly fancy himself as Arjen Robben again and spams curlers from outside the area. It's a solid option to have for a player that is otherwise useless at the moment, so we might as well try to find some utitlity for him.

He wasn't "terrible" though, he was "terrible" by the standards of a world class player that you've forked out £80m for, but had we paid £40m, you'd have thought OK, he's had a decent first season.

We finished 3rd in his first season and he was a nailed on starter.
 
Want to see him at lwb, I miss having someone who can naturally whip in a ball and let Rasmus attack it. Shaw never done this enough and I think Antony can whip in a decent ball from that side
 
If he doesnt mind a wingback position he can be a decent option there as he is unique in a way that he has always been good defensively for an offensive player. Maybe he was born to be a wingback, he just didnt know it yet.
 
I still think he might lack pace for playing wing back in this system but it’s definitely worth trying, especially in the absence of better options. I’d like to see him start a few games there.

Yea, he was useful if disappointing as a RW in that first season. The negotiating team should have gotten the axe (which they did?), but he put in a fair shift and was picked on merit. His second season was shocking (after the police investigation) and Amad and Garnacho also surpassed his 1st season level as a RW in the mean time, but it’s not out of the question that he could develop into a useful RWB based on his previous highest level and profile.
 
Im glad that my guess he will be a good RWB choice for Amorim is coming to fruition.

However, i also think he could improve playing in the RAM position because he will be trying to take on players less from far outwide.

Playing more centrally will hopefully allow him to make quick, short yet precise dribbles on to his left foot before he can shoot himself or pass to the striker. It will almost be like trying to take on a LCB rather than always the opposition LB.

Looking forward to his performance if he gets to play Amad's role.
 
So he earned his chance by hard work off the bench. Interesting what we will see today
 
I hope Antony can play really well and start becoming a very useful squad option. We need him if Rashford is done and Mount is injured again.
 
I'm prepared to believe in Amorin and assume he's trained well and can bring something to the system. Hope he's been made to use his right foot.

Amorim is wasting his time starting this guy even when we need rotation. He offered absolutely nothing
 
Receive the ball, hang on to it, fall over. You can't play the ball down the channel because he has to cut back on to his left foot.

Absolutely rubbish, give him away.
 
He’s just physically not up to the job, no idea why there is an idea he will succeed in a different role he will still have same limitations.

Said before season started he should be shipped out on loan as he wouldn’t be missed even if he couldn’t be replaced. I’m sure he could do well somewhere else, if we ever want to be rid of him before his contract expires he’s needs to go on loan in January.

I’m guessing he is going to cost us something like 60m in wages and fee amortisation, maybe more. It’s just a case of how much you can reduce that by with 2-3 loan spells.

Yeah went about as badly as expected.. if he’s going to have cameos they have to be limited to wing back. You don’t put this guy anywhere near the AM roles. It’s not that he’s bad it’s just that he’s not good at anything.
 
He works hard but as a winger or wing back hes simply useless. He cannot beat a man and cannot cross. He looks like a one footed player playing on the wrong wing. Has to be up there on the clear out list.
 
Worst transfer in the club’s history considering the fee involved, and I don’t think it’s even close
 
He's one of those players you sell on FM when you start a new save, and when you look at his profile the scout has given him an F rating
 
Got his chance tonight and showed nothing , I think if any offer comes in January we will sell for a big loss or loan him out until his contract winds down and we let him off for nothing , like DVB the transfer is write off.
 
The only value Antony adds is as a wing back, and there are others in the squad better there than him. An awful signing that we have no hope of recouping anything from.
 
Could a player who literally only uses his right foot to balance actually be better on the left side? I’m clutching at straws a bit but the right side thing has been a complete disaster and the only thing I can see him being potentially ok at is overlapping on the left side and crossing balls in from the byline.

If there is no interest in trying that, he has to be sold.
 
He's been a bit better lately as a right wing back but him as part of the front 3 isn't going to work, especially with Mazraoui who isn't that explosive behind him.
 
Just nothing really, although his shot was travelling in the first half if not blocked.
 
Limited footballer that needs to go sooner than later. Offers little or nothing as a 10. As a wingback he is, at best, a barely decent foil to the actual talent on the team.

He had a chance tonight and didn't deliver. There's probably a half decent footballer in there but not at this level. Needs a chat with Memphis about how to resurrect a career with limited ability.
