How someone can decide to spend 100 million euros on player like this? I am not even blaming ETH that much. I blame Arnold and Murtough. It is not monopoly money. In any other job owners would sack you that second for that.

How the feck are you not blaming ETH? He was the guy's manager for fecking 2 years and cried to the board that we needed to sign him at all costs after not getting De Jong.

I know it’s not what you want from Antony, but Pochettino has found some success convincing Mudryk to simplify his game (kill the fancy dribble attempts, etc) and use his raw physical skills to make some decent impacts as a sub; especially working hard to press. Antony is without a doubt physically gifted. I’m surprised there isn’t a niche job like that he could perform… test tired legs of an opposing team.

Is he though? There's certainly doubt, I've never seen Antony burn a fullback on the outside.

He's not particularly fast, strong, or big. Where he's supposed to excel is technically. And while he is relatively gifted, he has no means to use his skill effectively.

He's nothing like Mudryk, unfortunately.

I'm not sure you've ever actually watched Antony if you think he's physically gifted. He lacks any sort of burst, doesn't have much pace over longer stretches, and has very poor balance and isn't particularly strong. Mudryk for all of his faults has always been fecking rapid both from a standstill and over longer distances.
Fair enough. I don’t watch all your games, but he seemed very fast twitch to me, especially when he first came in last year. I thought it was his head slowing him down. If he just cut out the five step overs, pick a direction and go, then he would be more dangerous. If he really doesn’t have that in his locker .. that would be tough to overcome.

Unfortunately he is the worst signing in the history of football. To have signed such an utterly average footballer for such a fee is criminal. Heads should roll over that deal alone.
Genuinely hard to disagree with that first line.
Zero goals - zero assists. We are in feckin January. Him coming across as an absolute tosser doesn’t help him either. Don’t think I’ve disliked a United player as much as him.

100mil EUR for him. The signing deserves a Pepe at Arsenal level investigation, although the answer would be easy. Points straight to ETH.

Worst thing is, this isn't a bad run of form, he's been like this ever since he joined. Never ever looked like a player worth that much money.

This is the point with Antony, whilst players like Rashford underperform you at least know they have other levels they are capable of producing, but with Antony his level is just varying degrees of bad, with virtually zero hope of it getting much better.

Neville made me laugh when he said he could develop hiimself to be like Marhez, not in a million years.

Ten Hag's Fellaini. And that feels harsh on Fellaini. Will be sold by the next manager. Not much else to analyse.

We paid £2.5m for Jordan Ayew and I wouldn’t swap him for Antony. Dreadful player and couldn’t be any more unlikeable. Really not sure who would take him off your hands?

How much do we reckon he's worth? £30m?

I don’t think you’d get more than £15m for him at the moment, honestly. And that’s being generous. On £200k a week as well which rules out the vast majority of clubs unless heavily subsidised by Utd.

Your only hope is a loan where he might be able to recover some form.

Rangnick was desperately pushing for us to sign Julian Alvarez from River Plate, Board said no. City signed him for 14.1 million.

We ended up with this clown for a hugely inflated price.

On the wages he'll be on then he's probably unsellable.

I still harbour hope that the Barca swap interest was real, but that's very unlikely, and would also mean Ten Hag admitting his mistake which again is very unlikely to happen.

It’s so depressing to think that we are going to be stuck with him for years, terrible judgment from everyone involved with the signing but especially Ten Hag.

He pushed for Diaz as well didn't he? He clearly knew what he was talking about, but was just given the wrong job at the club.

30 million??

He doesn't beat a man, doesn't cross and doesn't seem to have a football brain other than trying to showboat. Which I might add he can't do because he's absolutely dogshite at pulling off tricks.

20 million and we'd be lucky to get that. I think we will either end up paying up his contract or allow him to leave for about 10 million due to his wages.

Hopefully this new regime have the balls to write off the mistakes instead of having them sit around picking up pay cheques. Look at Arsenal with Ozil and Aubambyang. Getting rid of those two was the best thing they ever did.

Can't score. Can't assist. Can't dribble. But the manager still starts him at every opportunity. The pair of them belong in the championship

One of the worst mistakes we’ve made as a club, not far off from bringing in Moyes, was getting rid of Rangnick. He would have put his boot on the neck of ETH to stop the trifecta of idiot transfers: Antony, Mount and Onana.

In my time as a Utd fan, which is 20 years now, this is the worst winger I have seen (Obertan and Bebe does not count). Young and Valencia used to boil my blood, but they are streets ahead of anything he has ever produced.

-Young had pace and very good shot and great cross in him.
-Valencia had crosses and pace plus physically he was a monster

With him he does not have pace, physically he is feeble, can't cross, can't dribble, shooting is shit. His only attribute is, that he occupies the right hand side and stretch the pitch and work hard defensively. For the money we have spent on him, he should have been De Bruyne or Haaland type signing for us, instead he appears to be in line for record of most appearances without a goal and assist. Shocking signing and for all the other faults of ETH, he should be sacked for this signing only.

Needs a few months off, never thought he looked great last season but at least he contributed. This season dire.

We have Garnacho, Pellestri, Diallo and Sancho if Erik goes. So we have options on the right, not great ones granted but all as good or better than Antony right now.

If Erik goes, maybe someone can coach him to actually beat a man.

Neville was saying it post game. He should be on the training ground daily learning how to push it past a left back and cross with his right.

I said "not blaming him that much".
In every club/company everyone has his job to do. For lineups, system, formation, results....biggest blame goes to manager. For striker who is not scoring goals biggest blame goes to that striker. Etc....
For transfers i blame DoF. Manager can ask for a player. Manager can demand for a certain player but at the end DoF and Dof alone is the one who decides about who to sell and who to buy.

I never saw in my life that manager is in charge for transfers and DoF is "go and fetch" guy. His tenure is one big cluster feck.

Going to chip in here and say he was absolutely a different player at Ajax, especially in the games I've seen. Should be taken with a pinch of salt as the Dutch league has tragic defending, quite comical even. However, he could beat his man and sometimes even on the outside too, but not that often.

Any half decent scouting guy would have told you he's a Mallorca level winger or, at best, converted in a left back for an offensive team.

But, as we all know, the game today is all about them fecking stats, distance covered, a few goals and assists here and there and that's a 50 mil player for you right there.

It's unfathomable that a player with his technical skill does not have the confidence to beat his man, look up and spot a pass. I'm not even going to start the discussion about ETH and the price because it's not even funny to discuss it.

I think it's up to the board management to say no and not indulge a manager to that extent, come back next summer or try a different player. £85m is insane and wages that come with that fee are usually very high of which he's not worth.

It's hamstrung our business ever since and took away from a previous buy of 72m in Sancho. Called it at the time how incredibly bad it all was. We may have a different Sancho if ETH is forced to use him and gets focused on playing, now he's locked out for Rashford's position and locked out of right wing with a more expensive signing that is ETH's own man from Ajax. You don't have 85m and 72m players competing for one spot, at least not us at this time and you have to be very sure each player can come in and not get lost on the sidelines. Not only that it's 160m spent, a 20m right back could've produced what Antony has done and played FIFA in his own time for 50k.

Getting sick of the truck loads of money wasted each year.

Neville also said he's inconsistent. But that is not true. You have to be good sometimes to be called "inconsistent". Being shit to average is not inconsistent.

Nani was inconsistent. Antony is out of his depth.

Worth remembering he was a panic buy which shows how inept the whole board/manager are. £80m on a guy who wasn't great in the Dutch league. You can't make that shit up, its fecking tragic
