No 6-pack, just 2Pac
Seems to be one of those players where if you let them get into their favourable shooting position they will 90% score. Sick left foot.
I like him. Tenacious, good technique, creative, contributes defensively...I want him to start taking his fullback on a bit more but maybe that will come once he fully adjusts to the league.
Counting his 2 games for Ajax, he's got 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 league matches so far this season.
For all the worry about his end product when we signed him, he's looked a constant goal threat for us on the right wing.
That's something we haven't had consistently since maybe Nani a decade. The fact that he has yet to fully acclimate to the league yet, and that we're in the early stages of Ten Hag ball, makes me feel like he could end up being a special player for us moving forward.
He's only 22 ffs and he already ticks all the boxes skill/technical ability wise while his workrate has been one of his best attributes at the same time. Gonna be something to watch when he puts it all together the more experience he gets.
Interesting to hear ETH pick up on this in his post match interview. You need to do both to be a world class wide player which we hope Antony can be. Either way 3 in 3 is a great return for the boy.Arjen Robben was one dimensional but yet defenders couldn't stop him. Some players are just like that. I agree that he needs to attack space more. Currently he doesn't. If he can develop power and speed he will be fine.
Add unpredictability/going on the outside and he’s a very exciting player indeed.Counting his 2 games for Ajax, he's got 4 goals and 2 assists in 5 league matches so far this season.

Said he played well but had room for improvement in terms of using his pace and adding more variation to his game. What did he say exactly as haven't seen it

I agree. He is a better finisher than I thought although it could be a purple patch. That said I like that he gets into shooting positions. Would like to see him attack his fullback as he seems a bit afraid at the minute. He plays rather conservative since he joined, maybe to build up confidence and avoid mistakes. Once he takes on players and is more present in our play, he will show a side we have not seen yet

Same here.I agree with this. I'm surprised not to see him dribbling more. However, I guess we're at the keep the ball stage of things with Ten Hag. Maybe Erik is just trying to encourage the XI to recycle possession and so Antony prefers to keep it simple. I've noticed Rashford also choosing to try 1-2s instead of running with the ball, it could be an instruction.
However, the key thing is Antony has shown himself to be ice cold in front of goal. As long as that carries on I can live with him not trying to beat his man.
Sort of easy to forget how difficult our opening fixture list has actually been, done remarkably well to get 15 of the last 18 available points.Arsenal, City and Everton are impressive scalps. Probably already more of a big game player than Lukaku ever was for us.
I think Darwin (according to rumours) also demanded a higher salary to join us than Liverpool which would have made us an even bigger target for ridicule had he joined. One thing to mention, we were heavily linked with Darwin Nunez but weren’t willing to go as high as Liverpool did with the asking fee.
We effectively signed Antony instead of Nunez. That’s a huge win in itself.

Yep, read the play quickly and made a great forward run. People say he's not fast but his pace was impressive there. I guess he just picks/chooses when to use it.Just watching his goal again and love the determination and pace to get into the box in place for the pass.

could he be our Freddie Ljumberg?Antony has been the opposite of what I expected. I expected a player who was involved a lot, but lacking a bit in end-product - much of what we saw at Ajax. Instead we have got a player who for large part is quiet and then burst into life and score goals - a much more efficient player than I had dared to hope for.
