Early days but it’s difficult to see a player that was worth using next seasons budget for.

Early days, yes.Early days but it’s difficult to see a player that was worth using next seasons budget for.
Spot on. Get going fast and put the fb on his back footJust needs to start doing everything a bit quicker. This rolling his foot over the ball does nothingbut give the fullback time.
Or if he's going to cut inside go for it quickly.
You can see the few times he does he's difficult to handle.
Maybe it also gives his time and options? As his teammates make themselves available for passing options.Just needs to start doing everything a bit quicker. This rolling his foot over the ball does nothingbut give the fullback time.

Not having Elanga as our main starter down the right is worth spending next season’s budget on. Not to mention that he’s scored three goals for us in three premier league games.Early days but it’s difficult to see a player that was worth using next seasons budget for.
I get that but being better than Elanga shouldn’t cost that much and won’t be good enough for very long. Hopefully he gets better because he needs to.Not having Elanga as our main starter down the right is worth spending next season’s budget on. Was a right sitter that.Thought he played very well and this place would probably look different if Fred headed that free header in the net.
Linked up very well and progressed the ball. Should have scored though. Very weak attempt.
Very easy to see the talent, work rate, pace he offers and mix of abilities as a future world class player. There aren't many left footed right wingers out there, and we were desperate for one. That's why we bought oneEarly days but it’s difficult to see a player that was worth using next seasons budget for.
Perhaps we might get more out of him if he was played as a left footed left winger, a la Ryan Giggs? He still scored goals by cutting in from the left, didn't he? And I thought we bought a right winger to get past defenders and get the ball into the middle.Very easy to see the talent, work rate, pace he offers and mix of abilities as a future world class player. Nothing particularly extraordinary yet. He’s harder working than somebody like Sancho but I don’t think he has that ability. You can't see his talent?
I’m not sure it is that easy. Time will tell on this one.Very easy to see the talent, work rate, pace he offers and mix of abilities as a future world class player. There aren't many left footed right wingers out there, and we were desperate for one. That's why we bought one
I thought he was entirely meh. Struggled to beat league 1 level defenders on the outside on the rare occasions he tried and his passes infield often got cut out. His right foot also looked terrible
Hopefully there is more to come but his output has been better than his performances so far
His technique, control, passing is all pretty much impeccable. Able to get a shot off well out of nothing, has good pace, great work rate.... He honestly has all the talent you need to be a top player. He's press resistant and doesn't lose the ball pretty much ever, and he isn't selfish. Easier to teach him to be more selfish than to teach a player to lift their head up for a pass.I’m not sure it is that easy. Time will tell on this one.
He's a right winger not a left winger. Ten hag likes inverted wingers for obvious reasons. People on here are getting all upset about Sancho, Antony, even Rashford not taking on their man too much.... Hint hint, it's instructions. I don't think ten Hag wants his wingers to be constantly trying to dribble past their fullbacks. Sometimes sure, but it's more pass and move and keep the ball, find good space, play the smart pass for an easier chance. City's wingers don't take on their men that often. It's more about overlaps and connecting with the players around them.Perhaps we might get more out of him if he was played as a left footed left winger, a la Ryan Giggs? I know we are all desperate for a world class winger/wide player again but there is nothing he has shown (bar glimpses of his finishing) that he will be a definite top notch player for us.Very easy to see the talent, work rate, pace he offers and mix of abilities as a future world class player. Harsh. The price tag shouldn't be used to judge him. Shouldn't even be in conversations. I thought we all knew the late window circumstance is what made it so, the fee was never meant to represent his pure value. Even Malacia could have gone for 50m if we approached them that late and desperate. The fee should only be brought up when talking about our genius hierarchy. We can't be asking Antony to be a 100m player when it's us who didn't do our homework on time.Early days but it’s difficult to see a player that was worth using next seasons budget for.
Not all the time just once or twice to give the fullback something to think about. Funnily enough Ten Hag only the other day also said the same and that he needs to go on the outside and use his right foot tooThere's a mantra here of Antony not taking his man. Just cause he's not constantly doing it or dribbling for the sake of it doesnt mean he wont come good and money was wasted on him. I for one like how disciplined he is but people want to see him doing dribbles all the time and whatnot.
Kill me if you have to but so far I see unwarranted praise. Last night he kept doing exactly what Sancho kept doing in the reverse fixture. Face fullback then pass back. Rashford who "can't dribble" was a looking more dangerous even if he wasted the chances.
Well if eth really doesn't want our wingers to take on players then we can expect a lot more frustrating nights against low block teams. Our full backs offer very little going forward so inverted wingers just means we end up very narrow. However, rashford was clearly much more willing to run at players than Anthony so not sure I believe it was instruction. He's a right winger not a left winger. We bought a right winger because we were desperate for one. Antony has bags of talent, he's capable of being creative and he's capable of being a goalscorer. He's an elite talent and has a rare mix of attributes, but he's nowhere near the finish article yet which is fine. He's done great in his start here though. People complaining are weird as feck.
It's a pretty essential part of being a wide player. You put your opposite man on the back foot and give him something to worry about. In his highlights he was running up dudes for Ajax so dunno whats going on thereThere's a mantra here of Antony not taking his man. As a wide player if you struggle to beat your man, then that is immediately a big issue. I don't think ETH has instructed his wide players to not try and beat their FBs regularly (which will be an insane instruction in the first place). It seems he is still finding his feet here and I hope he will come good in time but there is a long long way to go before we can say with certainty that he will be a star for us.
He is doing really well so far. But i still don't get it why he is not trying to beat full backs. Wasn't he in Dutch league first in the league regarding dribble stats?
