Reminds me a lot of Mata. Not too pacy, great technique, good eye for a pace. A tad too light for the Premier League?

I think he would do well here. In terms of size, its not much of a hinderance for the likes of Coutinho, Sterling et al.

The "size being a hindrance" thing is completely over played. Individual players can excel despite being small, the trouble comes when you have a team that is overall smaller than other teams on average. They will be bullied at times and drop points.

Griezmann in a team that contains the likes of Ibra, Pogba, Bailly, Valencia, Smalling, Fellaini, Martial and Rashford (he'll be a unit by next summer) will have no issues.

Honestly think we would be the number 1 choice for him. Obviously his brother is a united fan and many strong rumors about him being one as well growing up. With pogba he has a really good friend here. United one of the few teams that can afford him and premier league being huge for his marketability. Madrid and barca wont get him because they dont need him/cant justify 100m for him or simply switching from one madrid to the other I cant see happening. Leaves the english clubs, juve and bayern, and i cant see him going to the latter 2 so its united, city or chelsea. All can probably afford him, but the things i mentioned previously combined with uniteds popularity and history I think we would get him if we bid the release clause next summer. Just a matter of putting up the money. Would be perfect to replace rooney too.

I hope our club don't have this attitude. This is when we need to start putting in the groundwork for his transfer and it's exactly the same drills for the muppets. 10 months to get this happening.

Really like him as a player, great movement, finishing, and a hard worker. At the same time he's not really the kind of player I see excelling in the type of team I'd like to see us become - there doesn't seem to be much space for him in a 4-3-3 except wide, which nullifies his main qualities, and I think he's more of a second striker than a number 10, which would require us to go 4-4-2 in some form. These are the type of problems with him that led Deschamps to pushing Pogba back in order to accommodate him up front with Giroud.

Has he played at all up front on his own for Atletico? If so, how has he managed?

Don't think so. Mostly in a 2-striker system next to Mandzukic/Jackson/Vietto/Torres.

Still most of the comments here are simply going to be discussing the players attributes and not any news media reporting our interest or so.

Fwiw I don't think it will be very likely. Greizmann has been in Spain for some time and clearly likes it there which is why he moved to atletico than other clubs. He is an important player for them and they are CL contenders. Not sure why he will really want to move to us or any other club for that matter unless something changes.

I think it is more a case of Griezmann's time at Atletico coming to a natural end. It was muted that had Simeone left, he may have followed. I think if Atletico win either the Champions League or La Liga, Griezmann will almost certainly move on.

It may be mere conjecture at this point, but it's telling how much confidence there is that Griezmann will be a Manchester United player next summer.

Everything fits.

There's a pretty big reason he'd come to us. He's a big United fan. If he moves anywhere, and we want him, we'll get him.

Bring him home  the guy bleeds red, white and black.

I hear him and Pogboom are best mates too!

Didn't people say Deschamps had to restrict Pogba to get the best out of Griezmann at the Euros. Is that true and would we not have the same problem if we bought Griezmann

-----------------Ibrahimovic-------------------
Martial----------Griezmann--------Mkhitaryan
-----------Pogba-------------DM---------------
Shaw------CB-------------Bailly-------------RB
-------------------De Gea-----------------------

Would something like this work

It'sa concern, I think the biggest thing that restricted Pogba at the Euros though was that Matuidi was all over the shop so Pogba had to play as the holding CM. If we pair him with a quality #6 who will be disciplined it should loosen the chains even in a 4-2-3-1.

Mourinho is much tactically adept than Deschamp, so if Jose wants him he'll make it work. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks Micky in the middle and Griezmann has his right sided forward.

I'm skeptical about that one, he said that he felt more spanish than french. I don't see him leave Spain.

Hopefully Atletico have a shit season. I can't see him staying to be third dog to Real and Barca

Where has this myth come from implying that he's not fast?

Can't see him staying at Atleti beyond this season. They won't be able to keep up with Real and Barca and I can't see him being happy at a team that IMO doesn't really have a realistic chance of winning the League.

Didn't Simeone nearly leave this summer? There has to be a certain point where trying to break the Madrid/Barca duopoly starts to become a mental hindrance.

Didn't Simeone want to leave for Inter though? I may be pretty wrong here but I think it was either Inter or the PL that he would only leave for. Maybe he'll take a sabbatical or something, because De Boer has only just gone to Inter, and every worthwhile PL side seems stable for the very near future at least.

Comparing him with Mata is odd as they are very different players. Griezmann is pacy too unlike Mata

The too light argument should be over by now. Vardy and Mahrez are hardly strong or big and they won the title last year

He's good but overrated quite a bit imo. Fast, good movement, good technique with a cracking shot on him but the talk of him being up there with CR7, Suarez, Neymar, I just don't think he's close to that level or ever will be. People seem desperate for the next big thing. But Mahrez for instance showed far more last season than Griezmann ever has for my money and still looked pretty unreal against us this term.

Really? How did the French people receive that news?

I expect they all collectively jumped off the Eiffel Tower like a bunch of lemmings, either that or they just didn't care

I don't think it's true, Griezmann said that before signing his contract he called Simeone and he told him that he was going nowhere. I think that it was paper talks.

I'm not sure if he wanted to leave for Inter or the details of that story. I do remember there being some speculation that his next move would be to Inter as it's a club he likes like Atletico. If he did want Inter then really the owners should just sack De Boer asap for him.

I hope he doesn't end up at a PL rival like Arsenal or Chelsea

I don't know why we weren't in for him when he left Sociedad. He played and scored against us, we could all see his quality, and from what i remember we all wanted him on here. He went for basically peanuts as well.

When freakin' Stoke is signing undersized cast-offs from other clubs, I'm fairly sure this 'not big enough for the Prem' line can be retired once and for all.

He did consider his future after the CL final

http://www.skysports.com/football/n...madrid-exit-after-champions-league-heartbreak

The 46-year-old Argentine said he was hurting after his side's failure - and then raised doubts about his future at the Vicente Calderon.

"Do I have to continue with Atletico or is it the end of a cycle? I have to think about that," Simeone told reporters.
