Nailed on to sign for us next season.

Yeah I think it's fairly nailed on too. Meanwhile there's posters saying we're not nearly as attractive a destination as Barca in the Pogba thread.

Let's hope Madrid don't come calling too, we haven't got a chance once they're involved :smirk:

We are very attractive, but let's not fool ourselves. If Barca came up with a guarantee for playtime for Griezmann he would go there. No chance of that happening though with MSN still good for the foreseable future.

Griezman will look for his transfer outside of the Spanish league since both Barca and Real is out of the question (playtime, Atletico loyalty)

Juve can't afford him, PSG and France probably isn't interesting to him, Bayern perhaps but will they meet his clause? Meh, not with their squad. That leaves the PL giants, and I think he will choose us ahead of Chelsea, City and the likes.

I doubt they will be a factor if he wants to play for us. Also, we would likely outbid them given our new cash swag.
I was only joking, I hope we embarrass them once again.

Assuming he decides to leave Atletico next summer, and obviously assuming he moves to a club in one of the 5 top European leagues, it'll be very difficult to imagine him moving to:
-Real (transfer ban, squad, impossibility of buying straight from Atletico) or Barca (MSN, Gomes).
-Italy (Juve can't afford him, maybe one of the Milan clubs as an outside bet with the Chinese money?).
-Bayern (Would they want him when they have Lewandowski and Muller?)

I can see PSG trying again for him, but I don't know if he's open to a move there. Has he said anything regarding that in the past?

In the PL, I can only see United and Chelsea as realistic options. City surely will not be in for him given their depth in attack, and the rest either can't afford him or are not attractive enough.

If we want him next summer, and assuming Bayern don't want him and he doesn't want to go to Italy, I can see it being between us, Chelsea and PSG.

If he makes the switch from Puma to Adidas then it's 100% on.

Adidas will bring him home.

I think we'll get him too and I'm quite the pessimist when it comes to transfers.

Has there ever been a situation before where United fans were confident and hyped about a signing before we were even linked to the player and then it happened because it just makes so much sense? This could be a first, can see it coming a mile off.

Behind Ibrahimovic.

De Gea
Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw
??? Pogba
Mkhitaryan Griezmann Martial
Ibrahimovic
What a team that would be. Such a shame we'll need to replace Ibrahimovic in a couple years.

It is a shame indeed but can be remedied. Martial may mature by that time and play as a striker with a LW slot freeing up after him.

Mkhitaryan---Griezmann---Dybala
------------------------Martial-------------------

Dybala plays more centrally but he has all the qualities to play on the left side of a fluid front 4. Highly unlikely to ever happen, but the above attack would be extraordinary. Imagine buying Griezmann in 2017 and then Dybala the year after.

The problem i see with formations that put Pogba in a midfield 2 is that it's not playing him to his strengths. He plays his best in a 3 man midfield, as the most attacking of the 3 (like at Juve). PLaying only Pogba and another midfielder would leave us exposed too often. Perhaps Greizman can play up top, or even on the right coming in, but the most expensive player of all time, for me, should play in his strongest position.

Martial up top, Mikhitayan on the right, Griezmann on the left. Pogba in midfield ahead of two others.

No idea whom the two other midfielders should be, but all the Football Manager doyens seem to rate Mensah as one of them. I've not seen enough from him, personally. But I'm willing to believe the hype. We definitely need to strengthen midfield, though. Herrera and Schneiderlin are decidedly midtable level. That frontline wouldn't do enough defending to keep the rest of the team from getting overrun.

Who would you guys prefer if it was a straight choice between Dybala and Griezmann? Both player might be looking to move on next summer and they play in similar positions and the price would also be in the same region for both players.

Argentines tend not to respect English clubs as much as they do Spanish and Italian clubs. I think it's changing, but I'd still prefer a long-time United fan versus somebody who comes from a country where the PL is only just starting to advertise itself as a prestigious competition with prestigious clubs.

I realise it's unfair on Dybala, but I don't know him personally. I guess that's what scouts are paid for. As an outsider, I'm hedging my bets on Griezmann being more of a fighter for the United cause.

tbh I would prefer Dybala. He is younger, more adapt at RW \ right wide forward position and quicker. But he won't come to the PL, he is a die hard Barcelona fan.

It all depends how Mkhi does on the right this season, if he is better on the right than centrally then bring in Griezman to play centrally. Still the more important signing next summer will be that perpetum mobile defensive midfielder that can make Pogba work in a midfield two though. You need a three lunged defensive screen for something like that to work against the big boys.

I might be wrong but I think Jose has no intention of playing Pogba as essentially a #10, he talks about him like he's going to mold him into a true box to box that can score, create and defend, and truth is with the tools Pogba has there is no reason he can't train on to be that guy. Griezmann would cost £80M so to not play him as a SS would make that buy pointless IMO, he looks half the threat when playing wide as his biggest strength is making those second ball runs off a #9.

Dybala as he can play wide if we did need to go to a 3 in a game and I think he has more ability on the ball, although not as clinical in front of goal yet.

Dybala is as good of a bet to end up in Spain as Griezmann is to end up in England.

Attack in two years could be

----- Rashford
Martial Griezmann Mkhi

or

----- Rashford
Martial --------- Griez
---Pogba ---- new #8

So much flair, strength and pace in this group :drool:

You guys have to realize and accept than Fellaini has now become a very good player and he makes an excellent partnership with Pogba. I honestly believe that he'll play there for the next couple of years.

Griezmann, signing Argies has never worked out well...

I do think we will make a statement signing for the next two or three summers until we have three or four Pogba like world class talents all at a good age whereby we can sit comfortably alongside Real and Barcelona as europes best team as opposed to just being one of the biggest.

Definitely Griezmann. We need players who will be fully committed to our club and not those who see us as just a path to some other club. There is not much difference talent-wise atleast for now. Griezmann seems to have more tenacity and a better pass. Dybala is the better dribbler and is just 22 so can possibly go several notches higher than his current level.

Next summer Griezzman and Saul you heard it here first.

Well also go for Tielemans and that french kid who did his knee in last season for up top.

Wouldn't be so sure about Barca, I don't think Neymar is there for the long term

I just realised @KM hasn't made this thread. He was obviously the lucky charm for Pogba.

Don't worry I'll create a new thread when the summer transfer window is on and make people forget about this thread. Same I did with @Sassy Colin with Pogba thread.

Every time I watch Griezmann his general play seems quite poor to me, he gives the ball away a lot, he's not very pacy,... He does have an amazing end product though, and I guess that's what matters.

Griezmann is a weird player for me - he's not a silky #10 and those are the type I like. He can be quite poor in games and then pop-up with goals with some intelligent runs.
