I'd love him here. Firstly, he's an extremely good attacking player, and for me, even more importantly - is a good looking enough and high-profile enough Galactico to possibly convince us to sever ties with Wayne Rooney. Our captain won't be moved on unless we get a new 'face' of United. Griezmann is a world class forward with platinum blonde hair and pink boots. Give him the #10 shirt and get him a famous girlfriend.
All of this. You're right about being the 'face' of United. I never find football players attractive, but this guy has 'IT' Really gorgeous looking. A marketing dream....(sigh). Woody needs to think of all the women who would be swooning...... Make it happen Woody!:D

Dont think he will leave, but kinda hope he does because it is one of the most tedious rumours of the entire window(s). Hummels, Griezmann, Bale, CR, Pogba, Benzema. Every, single, fecking, window

According to Google, his agent is this lot - "Grupo Santos Idub"
Dunno who they are. Don't believe he's with Mendes though...

I think the CL is overrrated in terms of being the central reasons why a player moves or doesn't. Ultimately, attractive wages are king.
Maybe not the only reason but people talk about the prestige of playing for United on one hand but then downplay the prestige of playing in the world's most prestigious club trophy on the other. And I'd imagine that performing well in the Champions League would have an impact in terms of marketability anyway. It is definitely a big factor.

Wages are obviously huge but massive wages alone aren't enough when measured alongside the combination of other factors, things like climate, location, manager, club stability, recent success - none of which we score on massively.

I'd love to be proved wrong but I just don't see it. And the inevitable 'He's a massive Red - here's a photo of him aged 7 with a Henning Berg...' tweets won't convince me either.

El Confidential were first with the Di Maria news. Don't recall them running a story on Vidal to United from their own sources.

Maybe you're right, was one of the El papers from Chile.

Modric fecks sakes!

Sorry - wrong thread!

Also, commercial endorsements sky rocket when you sign for a club like United.

Financially speaking, the difference in what he would earn is as bigger gulf as the difference in quality that their first 11 has over ours. But money is more important.

Yeah, even Memphis is one of Under Armour's biggest commercials.

Imagine the commercial success Griezmann would get if he signed. He would also make his brother a very happy man. :D

We don't even have a single high profile player for the marketing team to cream themselves over. Except past-it Rooney maybe.

Real have them on the bench even.

They'll be creaming over Martial in a year or two if he can continue to improve, and the club can climb out of this inertia we seem to find ourselves in. He's not gorgeous like Mr Griezmann but he's got presence that boy.

In any case, Griezmann would be a good addition both on and off the pitch, but I doubt very much he'd be coming to us.

I'm sure he'll be falling over himself to go from Atletico, a club on the rise, to this shit show. He probably can't wait to be coached by LVG and his philosophy too

They are hardly a club on the rise after winning their league and making two CLs in three years. They are at the top. But that's not to say a player from one big club doesn't move to another just because the 2nd club aren't in the CL that year.

It's not just not being in the CL, it's also looking like a club in stagnation that has no idea where its going. Of course I guess they could dazzle him with future plans and what not. But if I were him, I'd look at the state of this club and probably look at other options or wait a year, at least to see what happens post Van Gaal, seeing as it's his last year and there will be another managerial change.

I remember a journo saying a few months back about how we would be open to selling Rooney if we can sign a superstar. Griezmann works in this sense.

After 20 years of domination, you're always going to have a dip for a couple of years. If we get Mourinho and make a couple of top signings, we will be back in business.

So what clubs would realistically be after him this summer (if he leaves)?

PSG - Probably, seems to be the most likely team to throw money at him
Real Madrid - Possibly, but would he make such a switch?
Man City - Possibly, they have the money but I also have a feeling they/Pep have other targets already lined up
Chelsea - Possibly
Bayern Munich - No, they already have Muller in that role
Barcelona - No room for him between MSN
Liverpool - Highly unlikely
Arsenal - No, will not pay the money
Spurs - Same as Arsenal

Honestly I think it may be us, PSG, Real, Chelsea, and possibly City depending on Pep.

Its not decisive but with Jose as manager, if we meet his release clause we have as good a chance as anyone at signing him IMO

If he's available then I'd imagine PSG, Bayern and even Chelsea who have supposedly been after him for a while will all be interested and probably have more of a chance of signing him then United. Being a fan literally means nothing these days in 99 percent of situations.

What?

Yes I do agree, getting Mourinho and making signings would be a good statement of intent. But lately, I'm almost certain Van Gaal will be here next season.

IIRC Chelsea went in for him either last summer or the one before under Mourinho, he's a big fan of Griezmanns.

Yes but they have more chance than us? Which is what the post says....

Just for the fact that they've had known interest for a while and think even had a failed bid at one point although that was probably with Mourinho so your chances would increase I reckon if Jose became your manager. You and Chelsea would probably be on equal measure, I mean if people can argue that United can still attract top players without Champions League football ( which btw I agree with) then the same can be argued for Chelsea - big wages, the fact they haven't been out of the champions League for almost thirteen years which hints that this season was a one off and also the London factor.

United have been tracking him since he was at Sociedad, and your post said Chelsea had more chance which is bollox

How is he meant to fit in at Bayern

Have they? Ok didn't know that, I said Chelsea probably had more of a chance based on recent interactions with the player but I'd take that back if United managed to get Mourinho.

How is he meant to fit in at Bayern

Both Robben and Ribery are the wrong side of 30 so could fit in a wide role there..not to mention Goetze is almost certaintly off and don't think Coman is a permanent signing is he? Plus correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Ancelotti quite often play the diamond? If so him and Lewandowski upfront is pretty tasty or even him just behind Lewandowski and Muller. Not saying Bayern are interested but if he were to become available and they showed an interest I think he'd certainly want to look at the situation there.

IF we sign Griezmann, do you think we still need to buy a striker?

His best performances seem to be up front or as a second striker which Lewandowski and Muller occupy.

Coman has a cheap clause in his contract so will certainly be signed. Apart from the fact they have Lewandowski, Muller, Costa, Coman, Ribery and Robben...Bayern don't tend to spend the type of money required to sign Griezmann. They will just bring in someone from Dortmund like Reus or Mkhitaryan for cheap in a year or two.

I think we can rule out Real, Barcelona and Bayern from signing Griezmann so we should have a decent chance at getting him if there's any interest.

We're missing 2-3 world class players away from winning a title.. He is one.

No. Martial and Griezmann as our main goal scorers would be enough as long as others stepped up and chipped in a few more (Lingard, Mata, Memphis etc)

Seen as you mentioned those names. I will say yes.
