My French is rusty, @JPRouve @kouroux can you help out with the point he is trying to make?

Just that Griezmann is showing his love for Evra (and Marseille too) whereas PSG are trying to sign him. PSG and Marseille hate each other but it has never prevented them from signing players who played for both teams before so Griezmann having never played for Marseille means nothing tbh.
Just journos trying too hard to be too clever.

the guy on the right is Burley played in pl and spl, crap player and crap pundit, but he was actually speaking sense there. Marcotti was the one spouting shite. How does this man get paid to talk about football, looks like he ate one. sure, he puts on a cute little Italian accent when pronouncing Italian players names, but when you listen to what he actually says he talks bollicks. He always does. The state of punditry is at an all time low when these 3 numpties are being paid to speak

Marcotti said there might be reasons griezmann doesn't want to go after the ban was kept in place. The guy on the far right just kept saying "sentimental claptrap" and talking over people. The only thing he said that was partially sane was that griezmann didn't owe atletico anything. He's right, he doesn't. But that doesn't mean griezmann will leave.

Stupid from pundits and all of us. AM's ban will be overturned because RM's was. What about Barca's? Sorry, I can't remember that far back.

Hey who opened this thread again ? I thought it was case closed. :D
OK what has happened??? Why was this tread reopened?

Are you wuming us?
It is case closed. This transfer is dead in the water. I assume Raoul reopened it so people could take their whinging in here rather than infest the twitter thread. When a transfer is dead in the water to the extent that this one is, we close the thread. Nothing has happened to remotely suggest it is back on.

Did the mods really feel the need to send a message to everyone saying to calm down?
Yes. Twitter thread was a mess. It was said countless times not to infest the thread with Griezmann talk and other nonsense but people still did it anyway.

As for those saying this thread should have been left open for people to vent - we've had many, many transfer sagas that people were even more excited about than Griezmann go cold and thread locked and nobody felt the need to take it to other threads to the extent that has happened here. It is ridiculous.

How did the transfer get this far before the transfer ban appeal? Surely Griezmann would have refused to negotiate until after the result of the appeal was announced if it was such a sticking point for him?

i've actually been quite shocked at the level of vitriol spreading into other transfer threads. Out of nowhere people are making comments on threads like "lukaku is a donkey" etc. Never seen a transfer like this one invoke so much hatred for other players :wenger::wenger:

Yeah I can imagine, just found it funny that I had an alert for that! Some precious people about!

Transfers seem to be more important than the actual football, it is well and truly ridiculous.

For God sake, since he not coming, just use that money for Suarez already.

Kind of annoyed tbh. i know it's dumb because it's the 2nd of June, but i'm used to a Manchester United that would wash away everything in it's path. A year where we didn't win the league was considered a failure and the team would win in the year after (apart from that period when Chelsea first broke through).

To get back to that we need the very best players, this guy was that category, he'd have been our Hazard/Sanchez/Aguero.

This is why you get the dumb arguements about Lukaku, Dier etc, these guys are really good players, would defintely improve our team, but people want the very best.

The question is did the transfer got that far in the first place?

@Devil may care got banned for it, I think. His recent activity is quite funny. It seems like the ordeal pushed him over the edge.

What was the point of saying that he'd move to the USA, England or elsewhere to win trophies if he was that concerned about the transfer ban's effect on Atletico? Usually these things are the other way around, a player makes noises about how much he loves the club and wants to stay but won't hesitate to move on should the opportunity arise.
Nothing about the last two weeks makes sense. And then supposedly asking to leave a few days ago knowing fully well the ban could still stand.

Would be worth it to see Liverpool fans trying to find a way to call him shit and past it after calling him word class for the past 7-8 years. Just like all of a sudden AG is now world class after months of being overrated

If he pulled out of 6 months worth of negotiations over a ban that was already in place, after teasing himself leaving for the past month i hope we never sign him and that his shit hair starts falling out.

WOW!!! was busy for 2 days and lot happened in between... So many pages and can't read it all. Could someone please summarize the sequence of events starting from the said Dimarzio report?

Thank you so much in advance.

I don't understand the doom and gloom. As recent as 2 days ago, we'd have known that there was a good chance of the ban being upheld and I reckon AG would have informed us that he'd only sign if the ban was lifted. We wouldn't have gone this far knowing all of this. We're not that fickle. I reckon it has come to a halt and we'll see if we can attain other high priority targets; if not, we'll splash out on him.

I don't know, right now it looks dead in the water. The transfer seemed to be at a very advanced stage, and there was plenty of money to be made for many parties. AG was way too quick to post that tweet. My gut tells me there will be another twist to this transfer saga.

1: "I'm coming to you, Manchester United, i'm tired of not winning stuff with my loser club!"
2: "Shocked to see a ban that was already there, still being there."
3: "I'm not coming after all, and I love my fantastic club more than anything in the world."

By that succinct summary, You would almost think that Griezmann is bipolar.

I suppose ultimately it's a negotiation involving human beings, notably an air-head footballer. I wouldn't be surprised if one of us could sit down in a room with him right now and persuade him to go to Utd if we said the right things.

We could have negotiated every detail down to the last tee but it wouldn't count for sh*t if Griezmann suddenly realised the lack of tan he'd get in Manchester would ruin his future ambitions to be a Gay Times poster boy.

It's all very strange, his camp have been leaking the United link since... before christmas.
Ah well, great player but maintain for 85mill you expect a player who can add another dimension to your attack, ala Sanchez at Arsenal or Suarez at Liverpool, which despite being a fine player/goalscorer.. isn't in that category.
Still, very disappointing considering the options for a no.9 currently on the market.

I never understood how we would fit him into our team, when it's obvious we need a 9, not another 10. But then again, MUFC marketing machine surely wanted AG. I won't mind if this transfer is completely dead, but my gut tells me we haven't heard the end of this.

Not gonna lie I'm gutted we've missed out, and after seeing the other dross we're linked with I really don't have much hope for the next season.

It's looking extremely bleak at this point.

Specially with Pogba's tweet.

Looks like Griezmann decided to stay. The club tried to save face.

Agreed. In the event of us not being able to secure other attacking targets, we'll go for him anyways.
