The boys on ESPN all think its bluff and bullshit.

you know hell has frozen over when marcotti is the one talking sense and reason on a panel.

The guy on the far right, his whole argument is "it's all sentimental claptrap"... that is not an argument. Marcotti laid out the exact reason why this deal is more than likely not going ahead now.

So we should just buy the guy Athletico Madrid were gonna replace Griezy with, right? I mean Lacazette will probably be worth 100m in 2 years, let's get him for whatever he was gonna go to AM for, plus the obligatory Man United interest fee of at least 10% more on top.
Either we are trolling them or Ed has engaged in a very convoluted workaround whereby we get Lacazette for them (preventing him going to Arsenal or other), play him until Ibra is fit, then they get him in Jan so long as they ease off demands now for AG7.

If he pulls that off he is a genius. I expect egg all over his face though.

Maybe he felt United were too big for him - some players prefer being a big fish in a small pond - look at Le Tissier and Gerrard - both regarded as legends by their own fans.

The angle I'm surprised nobody has mentioned is the opportunity to iron out the whole "Griezmann and Pogba don't work together" through an entire season, with Mourinho working through it.

It's like free World Cup 2018 consultancy services for France.

I don't think it's that at all. I think he was a lock to us until the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld Atletico's ban (which no one expected). After that happened, he felt obliged to stay with the club until they are again allowed to buy players. I still think he'll leave Atletico next year.

While it's obviously bad for us, I have a grudging respect for the player. Shows he actually cares about his club and money is not his primary motivation. He'll come here next year if we want him to, and for the right reasons.

Big feck, they weren't even participants in 2 out of the 3 trophies we won and finished 3 places above us in the league.

Not that I agree with much of @redpanther wrote, I just hate it when people go "oh but we won 3 trophies" for the sake of it.

It's hard to judge by the places in the league IMHO. City didn't have Europe towards the end of the league while Maurinho felt that EL Champion is better than #2 in the league. Different priorities and Maurinho got what he wanted.

I hope we just say feck Atleti they got themselves into this issue and pay the release clause and offer Antoine a fat deal right now that he can think about throughout the entire window. I don't believe that if we did that, he would be able to resist playing for us when the season starts.

Yeah, if that's the case then fair play to him. Just hope he hasn't signed a new contract with a massive release clause.

My French is rusty, @JPRouve @kouroux can you help out with the point he is trying to make?

I'm no native speaker but what Bouhafsi is basically saying: You don't need dreams (literally: no dreams to have) when you're Marseillais. Just interesting to see how Griezmann shows his love for Marseille while Paris tries to woo him.

That article from the independent seems reasonable as to the events that happened. It appears Jose and Antoine were pretty understanding and Jose might go for him next year. Just hope Athletico don't make him sign a new contract.

Is this sarcasm? Because everyone including Griezmann, Atletico and United should have expected it. If whats been reported is true and Barca had many times less the amount of infringements that Atletico had yet still had theirs upheld, it should have been obvious

Their ban is only until January. There's a good chance we could go for him in Jan anyway? Yes he will be cup tied but can still play plenty in the league.

Maybe Atletico will do us a deal if we let him stay until the summer.

Nothing to do with us, he just said "GO Marseille and uncle Pat" basically.

Thanks, was interested because of Evra.

No sarcasm. after Real had theirs removed most pundits expected Atletico to get the same treatment.

I know there is a huge amount of over reaction on here but I have to admit I'm genuinely disappointed by this turn of events, he would have been such an exciting signing. A pity.

yeah, me too. I already dont care whether he come to OT or stay in his club.

hopefully Jose can get his other targets. come on, Ed!

Except they had 5x and 10x more cases than Barca and Real.

That many?! That I did not know. So all the protestations from Atletico that they have been treated unfairly compared to Real are perhaps without merit and they really should have known better. I don't think Griezmann can be blamed for that though. The average footballer doesn't understand these things.

Delaney knows nothing.

In fairness he said 4 days ago, we were moving on and he wasn't a priority - he obviously knows something.

I'm as disappointed as anyone, but there is a stench of desperation on here at the moment.

He quite simply, just wasn't that into us.

Beckham needs to get on the phone and have a word with Griezmann.

He is such a fanboy that he'd probably change his mind.

In all seriousness, is Beckham actually an ambassador for United?

If not, we're missing a trick.

So we've been heavily linked with Griezmann for the last few weeks and after the announcement that Atletico's transfer ban will be upheld, we suddenly don't want #10 but a #9 due to Ibra's injury? What? Zlatan wasn't injured yesterday. We knew we needed a #9 for the last month or so. And not just that Ibra has posted videos on social media which shows really promising signs of his return. Its an odd one.

To me Griezmann is kind of like Wesley Sneijder seems like a great fit for United but sadly will probably never happen.

the guy on the right is Burley played in pl and spl, crap player and crap pundit, but he was actually speaking sense there. Marcotti was the one spouting shite. How does this man get paid to talk about football, looks like he ate one. sure, he puts on a cute little Italian accent when pronouncing Italian players names, but when you listen to what he actually says he talks bollicks. He always does. The state of punditry is at an all time low when these 3 numpties are being paid to speak

So is @Acquire Me back in the good books? Marketing companies were planning adverts, we know where he supposedly got info from.
Yes. He knows all.

Don't forget he called out Weigl too, which is never happening.
