Ahh okay. Wanted to post it on twitter but can't do it without link. Thanks anyway.
Yeah, I went on the RMC site but my french isn't as great as it was a few years ago since I stopped taking it in school and their site is a bit of a mess so I didn't look for too long. Will try and find it.

He's super fast on a small distance due to his acceleration, and his technique is amazing. Something in the likes of Moutinho or Kondogbia. He surely is capable of passing it (unlike Falcao), and is able to attack with his back to the goals (unlike Falcao again).

Recently he's started to be good at pressuring when he lost the ball, which is really what he lacked as a player. In Monaco, specifically since the start of this season, he's wrecked any defence (incl PSG, they were all over the place when he started to accelerate), but we didn't have the rest of the team to follow him.

yes I'm not saying their strikers can't come here and do well btw.
Im saying we can't expect him to come and get 20 goals this year when he only got about 12 last season

I'm not sure anyone is expecting that, realistically. I am excited to see how it goes.

I'd trust the club to know rather he's an upgrade or not on a player we offloaded to close rivals, because we knew he wouldn't do anything dangerous.

I feel as though its a case of Woodward trying to make up for the fact he lost Pedro.
If Martial fulfills his potential then great, but I was of the opinion that we needed someone who can hit the front line running.

I trust in LVG but sometimes I feel as though he and Woodie could use a bit of help when transfer time rolls around.

Damien Comolli :

“He is mix of Nicolas Anelka and Thierry Henry. At a young age he has Anelka’s talent to dribble and his technique and at the same time the way he gets in behind defences, and the way he finishes, reminds me a lot of Thierry Henry. He has everything to become a world class striker.

“The important thing is that he needs to play in a team that suits his style. It would be wrong to sit him on the bench. He can play wide left, but his best position is as a striker but one who plays with a No10 behind him like (Wayne) Rooney.

“When Thierry was at Arsenal what suited him was that he played in a quick passing team and that is the same with this player. He (Martial) will not be suited to a team that is going to keep possession and builds slowly. He needs quick transitions in order to get in behind defences.

“What I like about him is that he is someone who wants to win. He will not be bullied by defenders. It is a fantastic purchase and he is going to be a fantastic player providing he gets handled the right way. He is a bright boy. United have to look after him.”

still waiting for someone to make a youtube compilation of his using Eminem's "Business" song in the background.
Just perfect with the intro and everything, even has a Batman reference.

We need to pass it faster and look for mroe balls then, he will provide the movement.

He is also way more proven as Martial. I won´t comment on his potential, because I have only seen him a handful of times in the CL and the only thing about him that stood out to me was his first touch and close control. Maybe he is this mega talent and the transfer will pay off quickly, but it is also dangerous business if he is the only one coming in today. You pay this huge chunk of money not for immediate perfomances but for potential.

He basically replaces Januzaj (at least for this year) and it would be certainly a sign of Van Gaals confidence if he thinks it would be enough to trust a still fairly raw talent to help you in the area you arguably struggle the most, which is creation of quality chances, and secure a top 4 spot and a good campaign in the CL.

The thing I worry about is, if you guys have really the luxury to develop a talent and at the same time introduce him to the EPL. And with development I also mean the negative things that come along with it: likely inconsistent performances, freedom to make mistakes and still be played on a frequent base. Even Eden Hazard, who set the French league on fire in his last season there, faded for a good portion of his premier season after his strong start. If Van Gaal sees United in his current state as the right spot to mould him then fair enough, but I could also see a 19 year old struggling with the pressure and expectation this price tag could create.
My bigger worry with Martial is that our whole cautious and slow play style doesn't let him play how he can. I'm sure he'll be inconsistent at first, but I'm sure the club know that'll happen anyways considering he is 19. Definitely think we should have signed someone else alongside him, but it's definitely better to have him in then not because he offers loads of pace and ability on the ball to go past players which is qualities we lack, aside from Memphis. So those 2 qualities, key qualities, is something that will have an impact even if his final ball and decision making will be inconsistent.

Yeah that was what my original post was about. The fact that I am excited about this signing, but we really do need another attacker after letting Januzaj leave.
Else we are a little screwed unless Rooney rises from the dead.

Yep. You could say the same is needed for each of our attacking players. Rooney, Memphis and now Martial are all far better if we play at a higher pace, and Mata excels with that as he has more space to pick out players as well.

Exciting signing! What's teh holdup with the announcement? Does he speak English?

Monaco putting those add-ons should get people a bit more excited if anything, those are some lofty expectations they have of him.

This. It's hard to see Monaco bother to insist on these add ons if they relly believed they had no chance of ever seeing the extra cash.

I'm not overly worried. Wayne always takes a while to get going.

By the way, I think that he suits Pereira and Depay, they play fast and try things.

Couldn't care less even if we spent 200m for that matter as long as he comes good eventually. He should be treated as any other exciting young prospect, transfer fees don't matter.

So you would compare him to both players?

I've already said that from what I've seen he reminds me a lot of Welbeck, not sure about the Henry comparison. it will be interesting to see how the manger uses him and in what position he plays.

Really excited to see him in action for us. Wonder if he'll go straight in against Liverpool and if he'll be our new 9?

So our new number 9, indicating no striker coming in. Wonder how he'll fit, on the wings or central? Rooney is undroppable.

It was said he is better as a striker, so is he now going to have to rely on Wayne being the provider. I think the Monaco fan said he is a left winger. Could he play the opposite wing to Memphis as well. That would give us the pace out wide.

Yeah it seems like he drifts a lot, so pretty flexible I guess. Hope we see him against Liverpool.

I'd imagine Memphis would be more able to adapt to the right wing with his pace, skill and crossing, than Martial.

sure, but the "rubbish claims" are still in £... not in €...

how about express (not sure if its a bullshit paper...)

I think you've misunderstood my use of the term 'rubbishes the claims'.

I'm not saying the independents claims are rubbish, I'm saying they're reporting on reports from AS and that in that article itself they admit that theres probably nothing to the speculation.
