Oh yes, the fee is definitely high but I'm glad we paid up and got who we wanted for a change. Chelsea apparently had a 40mil euros bid rejected earlier so it isn't as if we paid what we did just for the heck of it like some people feel for some odd reason.

We are still paying them a minimum total of £36m (across 4 years) regardless of how he does.

The way the deal is structured is excellent. There's also no way it could have been structured that way in just a couple of days, when the media first started noticing. More like 2 months.
Considering the rate of inflation in football, and the way this deal is structured, it could be a fairly fiscally sound deal.

Januzaj went from being named as our back striker then starting 4 consecutive games to going straight out of the door on loan to Dortmund - I think he and LVG had a massive fallout because it makes no sense to just throw him out like that when there is a very strong chance of him getting enough game time here.
Those clauses in the Martial deal make the deal a bit more sensible though if we had approached them earlier maybe we could have haggled the fee down by a few million.

Why do we spend so much money and only sign these players on a 4+1 year contract? Real always sign their players to six year contracts, City did the same with De Bruyne.
That looks a pretty good deal for one of the best teenagers in world football. Hopefully we can see him blossom at United.
