Anthony Martial to Spurs | Bouhafsi : "Bid rejected"

I'd agree if it really was a 25M bid, we were on course to sign Martial before you swooped in so I'm sure we could come close to what we were before. I honestly have no idea.

If you sign the left winger that JOSE seems to want what exactly will happen to Martial? Would u agree Jose has been less than impressed by him?
You were on course to sign him?, please elaborate..

Alli or Kane and then might be interested
Martial's ceiling is as good as anyone and they just can feck off for even 50m

I think the reason this gets such a rise out of United fans is that it's just the kind of idiotic selling we'd become accustomed to before Jose. Rafael and Nani for peanuts, Evans ditto, Hernandez the same. We were probably - no exagerration - the worst selling club in the world at that time.

But since Jose has arrived, we've not been nearly so stupid, so I simply cannot see this happening at a cut price.

As a fan of the player, I do kind of hope he gets a chance somewhere, and desperately hope it's here. Not a Jose type player, but there's nothing wrong with that.

It seems pretty obvious that Levy has no intention of investing in the near future, with a new stadium to pay for.

Simply put, whatever you were prepared to pay before wouldn't interest Utd now, as I say we have no need or want to sell. Unless of course you think Spurs were prepared to double your record transfer fee to get him before he moved to Utd.

IF we sign a LW then nothing will change for Martial - he will still need to up his game considerably to be in contention for a place. I think he's shown enough to suggest that he has the talent to do that but time will tell.

Again back to the same point, if reports of this bid are true then it reeks of Levy positioning himself to say 'look, look, we tried but our offers were turned down' to try keep the fans quiet.

Take a look at your transfer spending and the contracts you have key players on and I'd suggest spurs fans should be pretty worried.

What is the source of this information?
Was widely reported at the time that Spurs and Chelsea were trying to sign him. Monaco were saying he wasn't leaving that window. Then we made a huge bid and they felt they had to accept.

I don't agree with you but there is no point in me argueimg, Levy spent money on Sissoko, Son and Jansen. We don't spend pitsnce on wages no matter what u believe. But I agree we can't compete with United's top earner.
Do you think Martial is happy not starting?

I did see the reports about Spurs etc, but never saw anyone reliable report that "Spurs were on the verge of signing him" until we intervened.

Thanks.

Huge surprise.

We don't have he funds you do, I don't see the problem.

No, it was an exaggeration.

Well if you say so, how am I supposed to ague if u flat out dissagree? Like I said I only have limited replays so I'm out, until/if this professes.

Be a travesty to let this lad go. Is he inconsistent? Yes. Frustrating? Yes. But play him. Give him time. He's arguably the most talented player in the squad and i would hate him to go somewhere else and shine. Being in and out of the squad is not helping. I know he can be inconsistent and frustrating, but let him play through these inconsistencies and improve. Being thrown in for 10-20 minutes here and there is not helping.

I know the team is more important, but sometimes you got to persevere with certain players; i genuinely think he's one of those.

£79m, £50 of which has now been recouped by selling Walker to a key rival without any investment in your squad.... and now followed by what seems to be a nonsense bid for a player.

Is Martial happy not starting? I hope not, but then he hasn't said anything publicly to suggest he's unhappy, like say Rose who gave an interview to a national newspaper complaining about lack of investment and shite wages.

Monaco only decided to sell after they failed to qualify for CL group stage that summer. The exit opened the door, but since it's near the end of window, a good fee is required as Monaco had to take risk coming into the season without their initial plan with Martial. For Tottenham budget offer, they would have downright rejected & kept Martial. I have my doubt they would sell at all had they qualified for CL group stage that season.

If he goes there and finds his form, I'd say their chances of a title would be improved. Pochetinno might be able to cajole a little bit of extra from him. Who knows? Maybe he's the type who'd do better with a carrot rather than the stick

why would martial want to go to a club that wins nothing + pay crap wages?

you finished second that's failure full stop even at a low point in recent history he has still won more with us than ur poxy club could ever achieve.

face it ur a nearly club and that's all you have ever been people don't want nearly, they want to win.

soon enough a big club will come in for ur manager and ur top players then you will be back down the table.

you want to run with the big dogs you have to pay the big money or you just become liverpool but they actually have won stuff.

Who are you talking to?

all the spurs fans that are as much of a idiot as glaston.

Spurs have 0 chance of signing him. Absolutely 0. Any spurs fan thinking that they will sign him can say they'll quote me but If they do quote me and he doesn't move, I can laugh in their face every day of the season.

Small club. Stop pretending you can sign top players from top clubs. You're having a revolt over wages for god sake.

Levy pretending he's going to actually invest in his team. Good times.

Wait. If Tottenham bid £25m for Martial, then we should start making £20m bids for Harry Kane. The nerve of Levy :nono:
He's finding excuses for not investing and will regret it when their top players go off to other clubs.

Unless we have given some encouragement, I really doubt this has any legs.

Martial deserves at least one more chance. He was great in the first season. What we have heard recently is that "we love Shaw".. well Martial has show a ceiling much higher than Shaw.

Levy can get fecked. Demands astronomical prices for his players then thinks he can nab our most talented attacking prospect for presumably peanuts.

Should go all full PSG on them and turn one of their players for them even having the audacity.

Don't really get the idea we should feel 'wronged' if Spurs made a bid. He's a talented player who hasn't been playing much. It seems entirely reasonable to make an offer. If it was as low as some are suggesting, then it was misjudged, but it's not worthy of the comparisons of talking terms with a player without the club's agreement.

Clearly Spurs have no transfer strategy when in the middle of august they are trying to sign Martial as their frist signing.

I'd be interested in how Martial under Pochettino, tbf.

After Spurs' reject 50 mil for a player not in their first team, they have some cheek to expect a "fair price" for a young talent like Martial in this market.

All the Spurs' fans here talking about fair price, it's hilarious.

If we sell him then I expect us to sign Dier next season (when Carrick will probably finally retire).

No chance though. There's no one else available that is as good as him for a sane price. Given that Barcelona couldn't sign Coutinho for 90m sterling, I don't see a justification for taking the risk of selling him.

Either keep Martial and give him the confidence and a bigger role or sell him. The kid wants to play the WC, not gonna happen if the same season happens again.
