Everyone is well aware of this, even the ones currently pretending otherwise. It just happens Martial is proving plenty wrong so it's time to change narratives and adopt one that would shield Mourinho away from as much blame as possible.
Intellectual dishonesty and revisionism rolled into one. Especially as some of them were fully backing the reports for months

Actually to act as if Mourinho trying to bin Martial and him not fancying him was some sort of myth regurgitated by the media and anti-Mourinho factions shows just how disingenuous certain lots are on these boards.
Mourinho's treament of Martial since he became manager and its subsequent support by some on here was disgraceful. Now they are trying to change tune after Martial has saved Jose's ass from the chopping block instead of admitting they were wrong.

I will hate football if he plays next year for Bayern, Juve or something like that. Give him offer which he can't refuse, ffs.
He loves it here, I'm sure he will commit once Mourinho either fully trusts him or he leaves.

Right now I think Mourinho has realized he needs him more than ever. Without martial and Pogba we’d be very average.
Injured yesterday.
wouldnt he surprised he’s he’s been playing injured all season. Kid looks burnt out and had no rest hardly in the summer.

No surprise that Mourinhos favourites in him and Matic are dead on their feet and struggling. He only trusts them and over plays them.

We could go and digg up post of certain folks who where in favour of Jose binning him but that's not how we roll, we the Martial FC.
His treatment of Martial right from when he took the reigns at united was embarrassing.
First was his belittling of Martial's contribution to the previous claiming that he only looked good because others where very poor and that he wasnt all that. Then taking his shirt number away from him with no prior notice nor explanation and given to someone who was only a temporary fix. That is no way of giving a young player the vote of confidence.
The pursuit of Perisic and all the report that he has no issues in the exchange but for the refusal by united's management.
Then Sanchez playing badly and keeping faith in him, then Aldewereild and Willian this summer and finally the declaration after westham display claiming he only played Tony to prove the fans wrong.
He should feel embarrassed but he wont and all he is doing is to change the rhetoric claiming Martial has adapted.
All in all, the kid never got a fair treatment.

One month ago he literally said 'look how it turned out when I listen to you and play Martial instead of Alexis' after Martial started and had an average game.

To act now as if Martial's current form is due to some sort of master plan from Mourinho over the last 10 months is just beyond delusional

No, I don't, but when it's reported by Di Marzio/Cooper then I tend to believe it. You can choose not to believe anything in the media, but there are reliable reporters out there and plenty have referenced these exact stories. Pretty sure even Winter got in on the act and he's someone I think is usually spot on when it comes to football.
They never reported that Mourinho was happy to swap Martial.

Yup exactly this. If Martial ends up leaving, it's all on Mourinho for taking over 2 seasons to realize how good he is and actually use him (reluctantly I'm sure).

Doubt it, as he was great with Lukaku last season.

I can confidently say that the manager's obsession with playing Sanchez from the left instead of playing them together is what hurt Martial in the second half of last season.

Sanchez is a very versatile player, and he works his arse off. Im sure that Martial and Sanchez in the same team can work. Sanchez up top and Martial from the left. Personally I would play a 4-4-2 with Sanchez and Lukaku up top and Martial on the left.

Don't remember him being 'great' at all and not being anti Rom at all as I spend most of the time defending him but something looks better about us without him including Martial.

Lukaku and Martial were our best goals/assists partnership last season. They even matched some record that Yorke and Cole had about assisting each other.

Spurs, Watford, Burnley, CSKA, Arsenal are games off the top of my head where they worked together to help us win. I'm sure there are more games I can't remember.

Pretty much.

I've been critical about him, but I got to eat my words. He's been fantastic lately. The guy has huge potential.

Keep it up, Tony Martial!

Very good game from martial. He has so many good linkups with Shaw. That needs to continue for the rest of the season.

He also needs to add lobs to his game. There was a moment when mata released him and I thought an easy chip would have put us ahead but he sort of mishit it. Oh well really can’t ask for more given his current form.

Yep, many seem to forget this. Mourinho was literally saying, "don't bug me over Martial, I don't like him".

No he didn't. He was pointing out that no matter who he played they always asked about who was on the bench. He answers every "What about player x / injuries like that.

For how many months people are asking for Martial, Martial, Martial.
‘For how many months people are saying that Alexis Sanchez is not playing well enough,

‘So this week was time to agree, and to say ‘let’s give a chance to Martial and let’s leave Alexis out’.

Is that it?
Martial has played every game since!

If he plays 90 mins again mid-week and then again on the weekend. The minutes will catch-up. May have a leggy day and he will be criticized for being 'inconsistent'. I think his minutes need to be managed well if he is to sustain his form with a busy December on the way.

Liverpool also. We have gotten the best out of Lukaku when we have played with something like 2 upfront, and especially with Alexis. It helps Sanchez as well because his pressing game works better in the center of the field, where his energy actually makes a differnce.
Our wingers dont press under Mourinho, they are supposed to cover the channels first and foremost.
Martial to the left with Sanchez up front with Lukaku (if he has to play) is probably the best we can do right now IMO. Rashford, Mata and Lingard can battle it out for RW.
Dont think Mourinho ever will go for this consistently though. It would expose the CMs too much for his liking and tbh Matic cant ever play in such a system, which he always will do under Mourinho anyhow. Sigh.....

Juventus 1:2 Man Utd
Totally vital in that comeback. As much as Mourinho's substitutions worked, Allegri shot Juve in the foot. Martial was restrained by De Sciglio but ripped Cuadrado to shreds within minutes, that's how he forced that parry from Sczecny and that's how he won Mata's free kick.

He’s devastating in a team that tries to attack. Which is us when we’re losing a match.

Demonstrated in ten minutes why we need to tie him down.

Our best player. Superb performance. Could have had one of the great all time goals if that final lay off to him had been accurate.

Thought he was great. Did a lot of good work defensively, but he needed to, and I can see why that part of his game needed to be added to.

Becoming a more complete player and still dangerous in attack. Good stuff.

Fantastic last 15 mins attacking, but great defensively throughout. Motm

Thought he was excellent, well done lad.

His performance in the last quarter of the game was like Hazardesque. It's really hard to stop him when he keeps going. Overall he had good game.

If Fellaini was able to put that 1-2 from Martial to the left of him in the empty space of the box, that would have been a goal, fortunately the second goal came soon after. He was great and the MotM for me.

I was sickened when it didn't. But the free kick will do  phenomenal player, who is on his way to world class when he performs like that against teams like that.

That was as good a performance as any Jose could have hoped to get out of him. Throughly professional all the time and excellent in attack when called upon. His off ball movement needs development but then again, he'll get there with some work. Tremendous performance and a great run he is on currently.

The kid is good. This game just got me thinking, normally Martial would have been hooked off by the hour mark or something and had that happened we lose that game 0-1.

Martial basically started our brilliance in the last 5-10 minutes of the match. Without his sublime play and combination with Pogba and Fellaini toward the end of the game we don't win that free kick that Mata put in.

He should also have had an assist.

Not to mention his brilliant play on the left to beat his man to get into the box is what started our push.

Played for 15 minutes in the entire match but how well did he play in that time! Fantastic talent! Please attack more Jose!!
