He would be a hell of a player if he had some pace..
Come at me!
Come at me!
Look, he needed two open goal chances to score, but he was there. Last week, he was offside twice where he could have had equally clear cut chances. He also had a chance to go one on one vs the keeper, but let his touch go in the direction of a tired CB (Ake?) instead of away from him. He is as yet too unpolished. The Martial argument from a year ago, I disagreed with it then but not with this one.
Thank you! The problem with the modern day internet is that everything is either feast or famine.Of course, he"s more aware of the space around him and is scoring goals by hanging back and coming onto play.
Martial of old was all give and go to get it on his right foot.
Hinting at mods to change your tagline?I think I started this Martial FC feast thing on here, and it’s grown so much
This.Do we have to shit on Rashford, in order to praise Martial? Shouldn't we support both, you know, since they won us the game today? The tribalism with fans over certain players within the same team is ridiculous. I don't give a shit who scores, I just want us to win every game.
And this.Tony is giving me life at the moment, long may it continue.
Rebic was crap in the WC imo. Perisic was heroic. Absolutely owned the wing and kept making the difference in the big moments. Let's leave it there though. I've no real interest in spending Sunday morning having a debate about some Croatian footballers who are never going to play for us.But he is average isn't he? The World Cup is not a good enough sample space, Ante Rebic also had a very good World Cup and he was linked with us(probably his agent) but he is also average isn't he? Perisic to me is just like Willian, at best a rotation option at a club aiming for a title. There is a reason why he is never linked with top clubs.
Injured yesterday.Interesting to see whether Rom not being in the team is directly linked to Tony's form. Rom might have a big problem especially if Sanchez finds some form...
Injured yesterday.
Didnt Perisic go for 4 months last season without a goal or an assist in the league? He is a good but inconsistent player and is already 29 years old. If someone at the club considered swapping a potentially world class youngster for Perisic, he/she should be fired right on the spot.

Who knows? Mourinho claims he gave him some rest first and then an injury kept him out but that could just be an excuse. I don't think Martial's form has any impact on Rom's spot in the starting XI since Mourinho has hardly ever used him as a striker and Tony's doing the job from the left. But Sanchez could definitely pose a problem for Lukaku if he builds on his performance yesterday.
Martial form started even when Lukaku was in the team.
The reason is simple. Martial has more to his game than Rashford. The Martial argument from a year ago, I disagreed with it then but not with this one.
If it was for jose, at the moment Martial would be playing for inter or Chelsea. Thank Ed for blocking the deal.

Pretty widely reported that Mourinho was happy to let Martial go for either Willian or Perisic but Woodward didn't fancy it.In the know are we?
Doubt it, as he was great with Lukaku last season.
I can confidently say that the manager's obsession with playing Sanchez from the left instead of playing them together is what hurt Martial in the second half of last season.
Sanchez is a very versatile player, and he works his arse off. Im sure that Martial and Sanchez in the same team can work. Sanchez up top and Martial from the left. Personally I would play a 4-4-2 with Sanchez and Lukaku up top and Martial on the left.

And you believe everything you read in the papers? The papers have been trying to rile United supporters and many are taking the bait every time.
No, I don't, but when it's reported by Di Marzio/Cooper then I tend to believe it. You can choose not to believe anything in the media, but there are reliable reporters out there and plenty have referenced these exact stories. Pretty sure even Winter got in on the act and he's someone I think is usually spot on when it comes to football. And you believe everything you read in the papers? No, as I mentioned in the post above. What a load of rubbish. You really believe the papers who are bashing Jose any chance they get?
That report came from a brief given to every senior football writer in England - all published in unison. As has often happened when Woodward wants to say his piece to the press. I think it’s quite apparent that Mourinho would have been happy to let Martial go.
They said the same about Shaw, then Shaw himself basically paints a completely different picture of their relationship. Shaw was more down and out than Martial on here.
I do think there's an element of mind games, especially with players that are undoubtedly talented but aren't producing what they're capable of. Mourinho himself said he purposely pushes a player to their limits to try and get something out of them. If people want to believe that Jose is just crazy then crack on, but I think there's more than meets the eye with what's going on. There's a reason Woodward briefs that he's completely happy with Jose etc. He probably knows what he's trying to do.
Everyone is well aware of this, even the ones currently pretending otherwise. It just happens Martial is proving plenty wrong so it's time to change narratives and adopt one that would shield Mourinho away from as much blame as possible. That report came from a brief given to every senior football writer in England - all published in unison. Funny now seeing some posters pretending that Mourinho getting rid of Martial or being happy seeing the back of him is just some unfounded rumours without any credibility that shouldn't be believed when the truth is that deep down those same posters know it to be the truth which is why most of them spent the majority of their times in these Martial threads spewing vitrols about him and painting him as a lazy overrated sulker in order to justify Mourinho not fancying him and decision to let him go if it were solely up to him.
Yeah that whole episode with tearing the guy over him chosing to be present at his child's birth and supporting his partner during that time was beyond disgraceful.Spot on,it's so transparent too. It's tough to forget all the venom and grown men slating a 22 year old for being present at the birth of his son over hanging around and struggling in the shitshow of a negative preseason we had. The character assassination was shocking and beyond out of line and some of the same posters want to claim some sort of moral high ground now to defend their leader
Actually to act as if Mourinho trying to bin Martial and him not fancying him was some sort of myth regurgitated by the media and anti-Mourinho factions shows just how disingenuous certain lots are on these boards.I'm not one to believe in the media, but to act like Mourinho binning Martial for months on end as Sanchez stunk up the place was part of his motivational tactic is something else.
