Usual suspects doing their thing
You must be a soft little petal in real life. Is anyone even criticising him?
Usual suspects doing their thing
Most of the goals were from LF. Starting at CF in this team goes beyond goals. Mourinho will also get that chance to give Sanchez that LF place back. In this team, Martial is almost guaranteed to have a bad all round game through the middle and if he doesn't score - with Sanchez back at LF, Martial will likely end up back at the bench for Lukaku.Likely because we seem to have a real problem there currently with Lukakus form, and Martial scores goals
The Martial law is back

That is one reason fans shouldn't want it. Martial has got the chance to make the LF position his own and he has been doing really well there lately, better than Sanchez and Rashford had done there this season. If he's moved to CF, we would be significantly weakened on that left - going by his current form - and there's no guarantee he'd be a success through the middle, even with a run of games there. It would be like someone robbing his boss and his potential salary to pay his creditor whilst running the risk of losing the money before it reaches the creditor. It would be better imo, to stick Sanchez or Rashford through the middle - rather than leave either on the bench - if we want to drop Lukaku and let our best and most inform LF play LF.I get what you’re saying but the issue is should that be the reason not to do it? People are calling for him to have a run of games there not just one
Agree with you mate! With a proper LB, fecking finally, making runs and providing width and an additional threat on the outside we get to see Martial do what he does best. Isolated vs one defender they shit themselves! Rashford or Sanchez as CF is a much better idea. That pass from Rashford to Sterling last week (which came as a surprise for me), Martial is capable of playing those consistently. He has a pass on him as well. That is one reason fans shouldn't want it. People seem to forget he played as a CF last season away to Everton and he was very good! Scored a beautiful goal from outside of box
People are going to ridicule me for saying this but I have watched enough of this guy to say that he's a much better CF than Lukaku ever will be. People underrate how good Martial is with his back to goal. He can hold the ball very well, has great upper body strength and can bring others into play. He has all the attributes to be a top top CF with or without a partner. The problem always has been when he's been played as CF with average players on the wings in Rashford and Lingard. Play him with Mata and Sanchez with Pogba at 10 and they will produce top quality football.
No, we were very good. If we weren't good, he'd have been anonymous. He was rarely in the box too.People seem to forget he played as a CF last season away to Everton and he was very good! Scored a beautiful goal from outside of box
If he was as shit as Ashley Young he'd have to put that effort in week in and week out just to stay in the premier league. Now get on your bike.
Let's be honest you plastic. Young is not shit
And it's not for the first time either. First was when he joined as a teenager with a huge price tag and performed brilliantly despite the noise, second was last season when he fought himself back into the first team after being frozen out. He's a tough cookie our Martial.A lesser player in a similar situation (inconsistent opportunity) would have no confidence to pull out the performances he's had recently. Great talent who proving his mental toughness.
No he wasn't. In fact toward the end of last season he hardly got a look in(after Sanchez arrival).Wasn't he trusted up top when Lukaku was injured towards the end of last season and ended up being piss poor?
There are similarities between the two. The close control and finesse definitely reminds of Berbatov. They played together for a while actually at Monaco. Maybe Martial learned a few things? He's like a fast Berbatov. I thought this yesterday after watching his first goal, the more I think of it now, the similarities keep arising.
Yeah, that is what I was thinking. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Berbatov recently come out in his support as well? There are similarities between the two. Rashford was the one who was upfront while Lukaku was out. I don't remember Martial getting a chance there. Off the top of my head maybe there was one match where we played both up top and they were both poor, but I'm pretty sure that was about it.Wasn't he trusted up top when Lukaku was injured towards the end of last season and ended up being piss poor?

How about the deftness of his touch? His perceived laziness? Also, you're comparing 22 year old Martial to prime Berbatov, his passing and consistency will improve.Oh no Berbatov never failed his first touches, Martial somwtimes does and his through balls aren't as good as Berba's.
Martial is a discount version of Henry.

I want him to stay on the left though. Sanchez is the one who should get a chance through the middle.

Edit: A quick Google search tells me that at the same age, Berbatov had just been promoted from the Leverkusen second team at that stage of his career.

The signing of Sanchez and moving Martial around the pitch and cutting down his game time was one of the biggest mistakes of Jose's reign so far.

It was madness when you consider how well he was doing.
I understand you not believing him to be a CF but it's not as if there's no basis for that view. When be joined United, he looked to have everything to be a top class modern CF. His hold up play was particularly superb at the time. This aspect of his game has regrezzedr as he's been played more and more as a winger. Also, his finishing and general quality in the final is superb. He has the touch, awareness and composure to be extremely clinical with his end product /goal scoring, and hence you want him in those positions as often as can be. Hugging the touchline and passing the ball back/whipping in crosses for Lukaku just seems like a waste of his attacking brilliance. What is this obsession with Martial playing at CF? He just played two very good games at LF and everybody is suddenly clamouring for him to start from the middle. What if he starts there and have a bad game? He'd be back on the bench.
