Even with his limitations, a level above our other attackers.

Sanchez for Martial was a disgusting sub. Stupid. All Alexis did was lose the ball in promising situations get again, whereas Martial was looking like prime Henry after his second goal.

Awful management there.

He's the best forward at the club and to argue otherwise is foolish. Great work tonight.

Martial FC this, Martial FC that, hopefully some people will wake up and see why others defend this guy.

Wait he was subbed?! Had some issues with reporting streams in last part of the game.

Brilliant today, if we can get him to be consistent then martial and Shaw is a fantastic left hand side.
I'd like to see him maybe go upfront for Lukaku but he probably wouldn't be afforded the same space and it wouldn't be fair to move him out of position because Lukaku isn't playing well.
Really pleased with him this season anyway.

He was actually fairly shite for most of the game, and I say this as a huge fan of his game. Idiots clamour for goals only and will think he was great, however.

Martial was in form for the full first half of last season. The reason his form became an issue is because Mourinho stopped playing him.

he deserved to be criticised 100% When there is a player who massively underperforms, doesn't give his everything, people have all the rights to have their say

He was not shite. WE WERE SHITE. How many times did he touch the ball in the first half?

Left to our coach and some fans, he'd have been involved in a swap for Willian.

But he was not even given a chance last year post January, that's what pisses people off, and lot of people criticized him unfairly when he was playing here and there and not getting a chance while Sanchez spent 6 months stinking up the place.

Wow....

What do you know?

A run in the team in a position he's actually good in and he delivers?

Who'd have thunk?! It's not like this has happened before....

To think, it's took José 3 years to give him a run and show some faith. After trying to sell him of course. Thank God Ed stepped in.

On a different level to Sanchez. Has to play, has his weaknesses and will be inconsistent for a while but just stick with him. Far more to gain from it than using Sanchez on the left pretty much ever.

Might be worth giving him a run down the middle if Lukaku doesn't improve.

It was right from a tactical pov but wrong from a motivational one.

Fergie would probably have made the same call tbh. The difference is that Fergie wouldn't have ruined his relationship with the player in the previous few months.

Two superb finishes that I don’t think many in our team are capable of. He was really poor outside of it but you can’t complain when he scores big goals like that.

Martial is simply brilliant. He along with Pogba are the two best outfield players Utd have got.

I remember when Alexis first joined, Martial was in great form, then his place was given away for no reason at all. I was livid. No doubt about it, give him games and he will deliver.

He should be getting Lukaku's place to be honest.

Not really, Sanchez hardly did any defensive work of note(and he shouldn't have let Azpilicueta put in a cross in the last minute), he misplaced passes and was not in sync at all.

It was truly unfair to him to get him benched but he most often than not underperformed when he played. Of course a player needs run of games and young players tend to be inconsistent and game time reliant but shouldn't get away with some of the performances like Martial showed, same applies for everyone.

Anyway I am glad Martial is back on track, wonder what more attacking coach would do to him. Also hope we ditch Lukaku because playing with one player less up top doesn't make it easy for other players to thrive.

Just play Sanchez up top, he will fight for it, he can hold it, he's got a good body core and the further up the more dangerous he is and nevermind the risky passing here and there, he'd press better too. Mou might struggle without aplayer like Lukaku up top though. Well we play one down with him anyway so cant be worse but Martial - Mata - Rashford with Sanchez asa striker could be worth trying out and we might see Martial thrive even more

I don't think any attacker of ours will stand out like a Hazard or Salah IMO, we create few chances and our play is pretty poor. We have to make do with moments of brilliance rather than excellent play for 90 mins.

He is a goal scorer and we don't have many in our team at the moment. Long may his form last

Imagine if his progress wasn't hindered the last 2 years by players lesser than him.

Amen! Do we need more proof? The boy has football in his body. I just felt sad watching Lukaku and Rashford trying to dribble or carry the ball in this game compared to Martial. Night and day.

Didn't create much today, but considering who he was up against he shouldn't be expected to. I also doubt it was a part of the game plan to attack down the left.

Looking at the Chelsea team they have the best player at defending 1v1 in the league at RB, the best ball-winner at RCM, their best CB defensivly at RCB and the winger that works back the most for them at RW.

Knowing how Mourinho use to prepare a game plan I would expect him to focus on attacks down our right side before the game. And Martial showed that he can affect games with his finishing even though he wasn't involved for big parts of the game.

I really don't want to start another debate about Martial performance when he was played here and there, it has been discussed to death already in these pages.

I'm not sure Sanchez or us will thrive when he plays up top, most of our attacking is dependent on Lukaku bringing down balls and with Sanchez up top, our defenders and midfielders would really have to make good passes(they are getting away by hoofing it to Lukaku) and have to be coached well and I'm not sure Mourinho is capable of it.

Those players create their opportunities with great movement. The attacking players are part of the poor play.

If he put in the same effort and desire Ashley Young puts in week in week out he'd be world class nqat
