When you play Park and Rafael ahead of Pogba you are clearly sending a message to the player that he has no chance.

It shows SAF some times thinks about the present more than the future like any manager really.

The days when you can build a team for the future and win nothing (or attain poor results) for 2-3 years (while the rebuild takes place) are gone.
Even a bottom of the league team like Sunderland would not accept that.
In 2017, managers are expected to improve things immediately. If they don't they will be replaced. And this will be the case, even if you won the title the previous year (Ranieri, Mourinho - both sacked the year after winning the title).

Exactly but some here are struggling to accept this simple fact. Ironic that imo even the fans who are calling for us to play young talents and accusing Jose for not giving some of them chances and develop , won't withstand 2 or 3 bad results with bad performance from these kids and will call for their head and for the manager's too. We only drew a match and everyone in this forum lose their mind immediately.

The manager , board and even fans aren't in luxury of any more of waiting for young talents to develop. Teams like Spurs, Monaco and BVB can wait as they like for young players to develop and can withstand their mistakes until they grow with zero pressure from the board or fans on the manager and players head. Big teams can't afford this.

Can anyone go to Real Madrid and tell them to play youth and wait for their development ? impossible. We should be aiming for proven players at their peak who will develop immediately. If we want to go for a talent then it must be a freak of nature.

Is this me calling for Martial to be thrown out ? Definitely not , but he must up his game and mentality and listen to his manager's instructions to survive not just here but in any other big club. IMO his future completely depends on his decision.

It is funny many ppl here suppose that Mourinho is faultless, wont make any wrong decision. In fact he always got it wrong with outstanding young-ish player. Lukaku, KdB, Hazard, Martial is the leastest victim. Thats also why Mourinho will never be a top Manager like Ferguson, because he never get it to build for a club's future. Win something here or not, expect him to be fired within 4 years at max. Sad he wasted a talent in Martial.
Mourinho IS a top manager, he has proven that beyond reasonable doubt. Fans like you deserve nothing because you'd prefer to criticise the manager over a player who isn't doing what the manager asks of him. How the feck are we ever going to achieve any success again if we sack managers in favour of keeping lazy players with bad attitudes? I swear if it were up to some on here we'd get rid of Mourinho for the sake of keeping Shaw and Martial. It's bloody ridiculous.

Fickleness is really a real thing.

Doesn't get any funnier than seeing the same people who last season were praising Martial and making him a bit of a "cool" hero because of his ice and cool demeanor whether he scored or not yet now things have turned a bit sour for him this season, people are using his same natural demeanor as last season as a stick to beat him with.

God knows which other unlucky player currently being praised might find himself at the end of harsh criticism for the very things people are raving on about if he ever found himself having a bit of a hard time.
I agree with this. It's completely irrelevant. His facial expression and how much he runs wouldn't mean anything if he was actually performimg. It would have only been seen as a positive, conserving energy and being cool or something like that.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes either, we can only speculate. So the only thing we can judge him on are his performances. I hate when, whenever a player plays poorly, some posters always put it down to not trying enough or not giving everything.

But he isn't performing, and he isn't working hard or showing the right mentality to get in to the team, so his body language is an issue. The only thing that's irrelevant is the hypothetical statement you've just made.

I really do think Mourinho will sell him this summer. It's obviously not clicking....this is the second time he's asked things of him....mainly to do with attitude perhaps and taking instruction I'm presuming. There are only a few games left....and perhaps not quite enough to turn it all around?

His performances are the big issue. They haven't been good at all. What I am saying is that his body language was the same last year.

I think he just might not be as good as we thought. I can definitely see a lot of flaws in his game, he is too one dimensional. These are things that we can see and draw conclusions from not his facial expressions.

Mourinho dropped Mkhitaryan, which is a intelligent and equally fast player, for Lingard. Martial wasn't even near the choice to play that game.

That wasn't the point. The point was Martial prefers to play as a striker, and would have loved to be front in that formation

Unbelievable. Playing against players who have performed an entire 90 minutes and he looks like the most tired player on the pitch. Sort it out Martial.

Been saying it for months, he's off to PSG for Marco.

He's depleted of confidence. It's blatantly clear.

I'm not normally one to whinge about this, and I have shit circulation myself, but what the feck is he doing wearing gloves when its nearly May?

I'm usually a big fan of Martial and you can tell his confidence is shot but what the hell is he doing since coming on? Just walking around and hanging forward when we need him helping out his left back.

He did well. Some nervy moments but grew into the game.
He obviously was told to stay more advanced, and offer an outlet if the ball was won.

Thought he was decent. Worked his so late off. Which is the least you'll expect. Season is a write off. Confidence is shot. He needs a holiday and good preseason.

That was unacceptable.

Rashford was still covering more distance than him, despite Martial being fresh. I'd have been done with him if we went out tonight.

His ability on ball is not debatable, but it's the same Martial out there. I don't understand how people seeing him doing better when a knackered Rashford outperformed him by mile. I am talking about understanding the game & making run off ball run that defenders have to shite themselves tracking back. He let them crowd on him and make the pitch small. When getting the ball run to the byline , even corner flag & hold the ball there. Not passing backward and let them regroup.

He was OK but still incredibly lazy. Made no runs and didn't harass their defenders. It's like he doesn't care about his teammates because they'd been running for 100 minutes and yet they're pressing more than he is.

That was really disappointing. Lack of effort in game like this is unacceptable. Rashford probably covered twice as much space than he did in last 30 mins. He looked more tired than any of our players who played 90 minutes.

I thought he was very poor. And again showed less intensity / effort than someone like Rashford who had been out there for the entire match.

I don't understand the negative comments? The comments about running are silly. He did his job and didn't run around like a headless chicken which would have left Shaw exposed. He was subbed on in a difficult situation towards the end of the game and understandably took a few minutes to tune into to the pace of the game. He was fine.

Didn't do anything of note. Was pretty crap actually and never put in much effort. It's hardly surprising he isn't starting games.

Very poor when he came on, picked up later on. Made some good tracking back, a tackle, couple of runs and he was holding the ball to spend time which we needed.

He looks completely out of confidence and without stamina.

Again - seems like people really want a headless chicken. He did his job perfectly - even got a great tackle in - held the ball with great chest control and kept possession. What the feck was he supposed to do?

I saw ET only - he was strictly ok. Nothing great but didn't lose possession, battled for the ball, held it up well, but nothing creative (other than the average run which ended with Pogba's chance).
