Angelo Henriquez

Plays against Boca Juniors in the coming month (21st I think) so that will be a good test for the lad.

We have first option mate, I think its become obvious why we didnt follow through with Ljajic (he is a prick) I would imagine within the next year we will exercise his option and send him on loan to Twente or Antwerp for a season.

I would imagine he would be eligible for a work permit under the special talent ruling since hes played at up to under 20 level for Chile and has made a big impact in the Copa Libertadores I suppose it depends what we want to do with him though

Turn him into our new number 7?

Haha I'd love it. From what I've seen of him there is a lot to be excited about he just seems a really natural striker and seems quite rounded for a player so young and looks a bit like Ruud which always helps

According to the Mirror, we've signed him for 3 million.

I'd be interested to hear what Tim Vickery thinks of the timing of this (indeed if it is true); undeniably a real talent but is it the right time for him to go to Europe? He always has interesting views on the topic. Hope someone asks the question.

Perhaps we've just signed him to keep him there for another year but ensure no one else can get him off us? I suspect it is more to replace Keane though if we do bring him in now.

If we have signed him, I won't be surprised to see him being loaned out to twente.

Well Sir Alex did say Will Keane would be with the first team next season and since that's obviously not happening maybe he's planning on using Henriquez is our 4th striker?

Seems a real possibility given Henriquez saying we were going to sign him when he was older. Push plans forward a year because of other circumstances, a la Phil Jones.

Hope this is true. I get what people are saying about whether or not he could do with gathering more experience but to be honest I'd prefer we actually confirmed the signing whether he stays in Chile for another year on loan or comes into our squad straight away.

I know the Ljajic transfer might have fallen down for numerous different reasons but I'd hate to watch another young player, that we have first option on, developing successfully only for United not to sign him for one reason or another.

If this signing is confirmed I'll be both happy and relieved.

He was also called up to the Chile under 23 squad today so seems like Chile are fast tracking him aswell

Looks extremely composed in front of goal. Can't believe he hasn't been dubbed the 'New Marcelo Salas' yet. Let's start that right now.

He wears number 7 too. Just saying.

I'd love an unknown latino attacking signing to go with Kagawa. Now all that's needed is some sort of full back and I'm very pleased with the management from a muppet perspective (don't expect the MC signing).

edit: going to bed..

I thought Kagawa but wrote down Hazard. How about that. Didn't think about him at all. I blame the thread name. Henriquez starts and ends with with the same letters. My speedreading brain sometimes skips something when I'm tired.

All Henriquez goals

I know you can't judge a lot from these videos, but I just hope he's actually a decent player and not just another poacher. We've got Hernandez for that role.

His first touch looked a bit hit and miss, he scores a diving header off his shoulder and a volley off his knee in that video. Too early to be even comparing him to Nistelrooy based on that.

Chicharito 2 ?

Since it's not transfer speculation, I think Twitter stuff is okay in here? FreddieBoswell7 (who owns a scouting company) has compared him to Kevin Keegan as a player.

Anyone who's seen him play on a regular basis? How good is he? Whats his style etc?

Who is Tim Vickery? And why should we be concerned about his view more than SAF and the team?

For all of you wondering what he plays like check out post 160.

Football journalist who covers S.America. Knows his stuff too. Don't think anyone said we should care "more" about Vickery's opinion - but will be interesting to see what he says about Henriquez. Vickery's written quite a lot about S.American players moving to Europe too soon.
