Angelo Henriquez

Pique has twice been voted the best defender in the World. Rossi has hit over 30 goals in a season for a Champions League side. Ljajic is a regular in Serie A. Pogba has Captained his country at every youth level possible. Fabio won player of the tournament at a youth World Cup.

Are you really sure about that statement?

I think he meant at the time of signing them

Pretty sure he was talking about the level when those players came to our club. It's still pretty wrong though, Ljajic was playing in Europe for Partizan when we signed him.

I was talking about before we bought them you gimp not after they played for us. Henriquez is already playing at a higher standard than said players before they came to us and should be considered less of a gamble in my opinion. Wake up man ffs.

Yes he must do.

That is besides my point though. Looking at how the careers of these exceptional foreign young prospects have turned out at United, I am simply sceptical that even if the deal comes to fruition that he will become a first team regular for us.

Judging from past players of this mould, even if they have the talent they generally don't make our first team.

Can you go and watch Schindlers List to cheer yourself up or something?

Hernandez is probably the player that comes closer to the comparison of Henriquez than some of the players mentioned so far.

Why do you assume that I am miserable?

I am just observing past examples, historical fact, it doesn't make me unhappy.

It seems that these days that young domestic based players, from the academy and transfer signings, are the ones that seem to break through more often.

You picked one player out of that list who is comparable to the level Henriquez is playing right now, hardly conclusive is it?

Tosic and Ljajic were both playing in European first team football and I think that Tosic was already an international when he signed.

Fair enough, lets just see what happens yeah? The kid looks quality to me but we shall see.

It's difficult to say. Some players like the Da Silvas come from nowhere and are immediately integrated into the first team, others like Petrucci go from Roma first team fringes to the reserves. If he is in the exceptional talent bracket then he may well be fast tracked. The fact that our option is reportedly valid until 2014 suggests we may hold back a while and allow him to develop at his own pace

He does look quality and mature for his age, I agree.

I hope that we do sign him but it just seems that there are many more obstacles for these young foreign players to overcome to get into our first team.

There are plenty of obstacles when you sign young players from foreign leagues. And it's not just us who faces those issues. Look at Arsenal for example they sign loads of young talented players and only a few make it and it's easier to break into their side as well. For every Van Persie you have loads that go off elsewhere but that doesn't mean they should stop signing young players from abroad altogether

This man is having a cracker against Deportivo Quito today. U de Chile lost the away leg 4-1 and needed 3 goals to go through. 76 minutes played they are 6-0, and Henriquez had a great, GREAT game. Really. We should trigger that option we have as soon as possible.

What kind of player is he? A pure goal scorer or more of an all-round forward?

Our 'different way of doing things' in the transfer market of recent years has produced mixed results and that is being very generous. Out of that list of highly rated young talent, for one reason and another, only one has become and first team regular.

Would I be surprised if Henriquez never pulls on a Utd shirt in competitive action? No I would not.

He looks great, no question, but so did/does every player on that list.

All of them put on a united shirt. Even if it was just a training shirt in Ljajic's case when he came over to train at the club several times, prompting our coaching staff to sing the praises of his talent.

By the retards who have dismissed him already since he's a player who does nothing more than score goals. Apparently, that's a bad thing.

Makki these are the same people who think Jones is useless and bring up Manucho everytime we buy or are linked to an unknown like Hernandez. Id actually seen a lot of him when I was living in the states and was excited that we got him. People with sense will realize the kid hasnt had a proper rest in 3 years and is knackered. Ive every confidence he will be sharp and better and more physical next season.

I'm very well aware of that. It was more of a jokingly meant nod to them saying "Look how retarded you all are".

How many goals did he score?

I highly doubt that we will sign him until next year if the option lasts as long as reported. Logically we should see how he develops for another year.

Highlight from said game:

What you say, Jimy_Hills, is probably true. The best thing would be to wait and see how he develops, I might have gone a bit over the top but I really rate him after watching some displays, especially yesterday's. With Owen and Berbatov probably leaving I think we can trigger the option and just get him, then perhaps loan him back to U de Chile or even a team in Europe, just in the same way Udinese did with Sánchez.

Also, he is number 7...

Wtf?

Just pointing out that what papers say is usually made up or bullshit.

And I am pessimistic because I am saying we don't have an option to sign some 18 year old I have not even seen play and am not really a muppet for signing random decent players by just looking at youtube videos?

And I was pointing out that you have no more knowledge than anybody else, and are talking crap, as usual. Quite simply, you don't know if we have an option or not, so you saying we definitely don't have an option is worth nothing. You also mentioned nothing about papers in your post. You just said you didn't have an option. Try posting what your actually thinking rather than a one liner which doesn't make sense. Then people won't call you out on it.

established by who exactly?

Posters who don't make a lot of sense, or are doom and gloom mongers. I think KM was taking a little poke at them.

You know there is a difference between someone arriving at 16 for a nominal fee and someone arriving at 18 or older for a substantial price? A load of those on the list arrived at 15/16 years old and had to work their way through the ranks then got impatient and wanted first team football, a few are still at the club ffs.

Rafael and Fabio were signed at 18 in a deal that was signed at age 16 for a few million (sound familiar?) and became first team players straight away, although Fabio hasn't developed as well as was hoped. Ljajic couldn't get a work permit so we don't know how that would have worked out differently if he had actually come over here.

I'm not sure why Tosic is on this list, btw. He was 21 when he signed and cost quite a lot- he was just a bad signing like a Kleberson or Djemba-Djemba

2 more goals for Henriquez at 4:00 and 5:25 he now has 12 goals this season

So whats the update on him? Are we interested? or have we signed him?

Apparently we have first option on him I'm reliably informed.

So, I missed most of the second half but saw the first and was back to watch the penalty shoot out. U De Chile are in the semi finals of the copa libertadores going through on pens like everyone else seemed to. From what I saw Henriquez was very much playing the box role and therefore quiet for large spells. But when they put the ball into the box he was alert and making sure to get on the end of it. Had a good leap to win a ball that wasnt really his for example, but skied his header.

Seems a bit undersized for that role, would definitely be better in 2 up front from what Ive seen of him. Be nice if we sign him after the copa is over get our summer rolling. Saying that I wonder what the work permit situation would be like seeing as he only has 8 caps for Chile at underage level.

"The Manchester United people say they would prefer I continue playing here," says Henriquez. "Playing for United would be a dream come true, but I know to get there I must work hard and play well here.

"No-one has told me anything different. So I stay and will keep working hard for U.

"It would be very rare if I went to Manchester at my age. They said they would sign me once I am older and gained more experience."
The day after the victory. Henriquez Angelo just finished stretching exercises ordered by the coaching staff for all players who participated as full members of the party that the "U" won four zero, Huachipato, opening for the championship of Chilean football. As if it were a pre-established act, Angelo Henriquez was again the outstanding figure of the field after scoring two of those goals.

Noon on Monday 21 May. The boy who seeks the very-Manchester United football club world's richest, according to Forbes, gets in his Volkswagen Golf white again, and slowly leaves the Blue Sports Center, an imposing complex in La Cisterna and built by the corporation that runs the club, tournaments and players to achieve export and so recover the investment and profit. Angelo, in fact and in time, is the jewel of this process and is valued in every game where goals become.

"When we played ball boy and typical than I imagined being world champion," he says. "I also thought that debuted in the 'U', and it's a dream come true. But when I came to this club, at age 12, told my colleagues that I love to play series in Manchester, Old Trafford, theater of dreams, alongside Ruud Van Nistelrooy or Wayne Rooney ".

A little over three months, however, Angelo Henriquez thought his future was very uncertain and complicated. Seeing no options to play in the "U", he, his father and club leaders thought the best option was to be loaned to a team of Brazil or a small box in Europe. He was about to leave. But then, luck and fate allowed him to debut in the first team. Until that point, your story is not much different from the expectations placed on it.

The really amazing was that his age at that time 17 years, became a player that exploded, and he was not the smoke rose to the head. He entered and scored a goal on his international debut, followed by goals in the national championship and gave his team classification in the Copa Libertadores playing in Argentina, with a solitary goal.

Still more: he made a historic goal for Colo Colo, in a historic landslide, became the center-holder over other players older and more scrolls. He became famous: the value of your pass is steep, say, up to 8 million. If sold, it is believed that University of Chile could have enough money to build your desired stage. All in just over three months. That is why, for 104 days, Angelo Henriquez became a vital player for the "U".

Opening the gate, a group of fans rushes to the car and greeted the young man who last month was 18. Henriquez down the window. An old man, short and seedy approaches him and shakes his hand,

- How many goals will do in the Libertadores Cup, a phenomenon?

Angelo looks to old.

-May be many-answers. That has always been the idea.

Henriquez Alfredo's father, Angelo, was also a footballer. He played in the "U" in the late 70's and ended his career in Trasandino of the Andes: in the club stopped paying his salary, so he decided to retire young of the activity. He was offered an administrative position in a bank and became number in the league football bank. Chile became selected and traveled abroad representing the banks of Chile. His situation improved. And because of that job change, their four children have been able to live comfortably.

-In the condo is a piece of grass, says Alfredo. This asshole was playing there every day, nonstop.

Angelo is the youngest of the brothers. Accompanied his father to some football games, but mostly went to see him play tennis. In fact, very little entered the school of the Tennis Club Queen. Armando Aguilar made her classes, the same coach who discovered Fernando Gonzalez and who predicted it would be a world class player.

"Angelo came too little. In six years, "he recalls. "And I saw it I just realized I had a second Fernando Gonzalez in front of me. The boy felt the racket naturally, moved well, hit hard. Predicted to grow to 10 best in the world. I think I just chose the wrong sport. "

Henriquez continued playing tennis, participated in championships, but football was around in his mind. There was a reason: his brother Cesar, 12 years older, played in the "U" and turned pro. When Angelo was 13, spoke with his parents and settled on football.

"I liked tennis, but was very individual," says Angelo. "I always played football and soccer as a child wanted to be. He had to decide and as my brother was playing, I thought I could too. "

Angelo was a fan of the "U". Going to watch the games when his brother played, but was to prove to the UC. Despite the comforts of club crossover, the experiment was unsuccessful. His brother spoke to him.

-No huevees and Andáte to the "U" 'he said.

When he arrived at University of Chile, the club was broken, but Angelo did not care. They did a physical and was the best, they did play and realized that they had a potentially successful prospect.

"We saw it and thought it could go far," says former player Cristian Mora, who was his coach for three years. "It was 40 goals per year. Always wanted to win. In the meetings we spoke, we knew we had to figure that without any problems, could be a great player. "

When Blue Blue took the award of the club, things changed. Apart from building the marvelous complex of La Cisterna, the new owners invested in the training of players. They set up a book of principles for its development, after a diligent study of various models of training players. They knew they were years behind on Colo Colo and UC, and decided to put money, time and technology. They did it and shortened the gap in three years. The proof is Angelo, who have made physical measurements, psychological, social, educational and football.

"In Angelo we have measured to nails," says Hernan Saavedra, young football manager of the "U". "We have all your information and we know how much it cost, weight to weight training. Remember we are a factory of players. We have also tried to look at their characteristics, so that if we have a child with these characteristics, do not lose sight. "

In the business of the formation of players always working in the conditional. But Angelo Henriquez risk factor was lower. Playing a youth championship by University of Chile, one of the biggest clubs in the world realized the potential value in the future. It was 2009 and Angelo was 15.

"I saw a Nike Cup and immediately caught the attention of an agent of Manchester United. I took a test in Sao Paulo, a reserve team and was responsible for convincing them immediately. They did play and he scored a goal, "says Hernan Saavedra.

His pass, in that year, was priced at just over 4 million.

When Bryan McClair, young football manager of Manchester United, saw the boy, he was approached Alfredo Henriques and said,

Her son is very shy off the court, but it's a real lion in it.

Angelo has traveled to Brazil several times and twice to England. He was at Old Trafford, the mythical home of Manchester United, and shared some of his figures. He saw Wayne Rooney pass, the center-holder in the middle of a hallway, but did not greet him.

'Maybe you know that I can fight the post-jokes.

Today, at the home of his parents, in Regina, Angelo plays Playstation with Manchester United. A year ago the school decided to leave all his life, the British Royal, and make one especially for athletes. However, whenever he can go and joins his former teammates. The British offered him graduate with his progress at the end of the year.

Ramiro Menares football was his teacher at school from age eight. "Every time I see him score a goal I'm excited and proud, but it is strange because I saw them do since childhood. Angelo, now, just doing their destination, "he says.

Angelo never wanted to move up in weight. His friends in that generation, which also include Igor Lichnosvky and Christopher Vergara, who alternated as the first team of the "U" - are coming together after practice.

"After practice, when the teachers make us stretch, sit on the grass and began to remember," says Christopher Vergara, friend and companion in the "U" since age 13. "Everyone came from very different worlds, but here were the same. We joined the dreams. The other day we look at the green grass of the soccer field and we remember that at first we were showered with cold water. We wanted to play for Barcelona or Manchester. And each one has been fulfilled. "

Henriquez Angelo watching the screen. In the play makes defender Ferdinand throw a long pass to midfielder Ryan Giggs, Rooney and this attacker. The shot goes narrowly wide.

"My future is here. I'm happy with my life here in the "U". My dream has been fulfilled in part. What player does not succeed in the world's best football, the Champions, to be world champion? So I've wanted since childhood. We all play with that dream. "

Boy is this lad making the right noises. Apologies for the google translate on the article.

Looks a done deal! Just a matter of time until we sign him.

I read elsewhere the players he tries to emulate re Henry and Nistlerooy, though he feels more like a Nistleroy at the moment, afte having watched all of 5 minutes of him on youtbe I have decided he is a combination of the 2.
