Only watching the 2nd half, so dunno how he did initially. But he's impressed me so far. Clever runs, smart and skillful in possession and tenacious in defending. I would happily have him at United.

First half I didn't even know he was in the game, second half not much better, don't want him based on this performance

Looks abit of a nothing player

Valencia have already turned down 30 million from Chelsea right?

Well He's definitely NOT worth anymore than that. I'd rather throw 30+ million at Leicester for kante

What do you mean not much better ? He's won a few tackles, involved in a couple 1-2's. I even noticed him making a few good runs which were not picked up. All of this in 25 mins in the second half. He's certainly been one of their better players so far. He is starting to look a little tired now though.

What games do you lot watch? He's dominated both games. Iceland & Austria haven't gotten a kick for a reason.

In this team, he's an attacker. And he's not attacking with any conviction.

William has controlled the game.

He's not what we need. Better closer to goal than central midfield

Agree, he's clearly a neat and tidy passing kind of player (we already have too many of these - Mata, Herrera e.t.c.) Not one who will attack ruthlessly.

In fairness, that Portugal team has only one attacker. And I don't who told you his is an attacker. He's a centre midfielder, playing in a trio with Carvalho and Moutinho. He's the box to box player with Moutinho mostly entrusted with the killer balls. He's done what his coach has asked him to do.

First half he was playing the opposite side of Quaresma, second half we've seen him in that number 10 role. Both roles are attacking roles where the emphasis should be on attacking. 9 goals in 78 games for Valencia clearly shows he is not the player we need. Like I said, we already have players like Mata and Herrera for that role (and Mata might be gone)

He's not an AM.

I dunno about the first half, but he's clearly not the No 10 in the second either. He's pretty much worked up and down the left central area. Him and Raphael have worked well together, it's a shame the latter's crossing has been poor. And you do realize you are talking about a Valencia team that has been piss poor recently right ?

So he didn't play in that side.

I think he was pretty impressive.

A lot on here feel as if hes got the potential to improve, if so, could be well worth purchasing.

playing the same way he played for Balencia this season. IMO he's not an upgrade on Herrera.

Huh ? Chelsea were piss poor this season, does that make Hazard a bad player ?
No but, Hazard is a lot better player than this lad. For the money we should be getting someone better, or pay a darn sight less than they want. They will have based that clause on him getting better, but he actually hasn't.

He looks alright but nothing special at all.

I don't even know why Akash is infatuated with him. From what I've seen he almost certainly looks the type he'd brush off instantly as 'shite, do not want'.

Can you suggest to me one midfielder who will cost less than or equal to 42m pounds and can improve the team in a box to box role available in the market? I don't ask this to scorn at you, but I am asking genuinely.

Kante

We have too many similar players

No, we don't. I mean I can see why some might not want him as he's nowhere near the finished product but he's a different player to Mata or Herrera.

I don't get the comparisons with Herrera. He is easily better technically, two footed and a superior athlete. He has all the ability but his languid style seems to rub people the wrong way.

I think he's a talented player, but just can't see us needing him. We've got enough of that type.

Beaten to it, yes I was thinking of Kante.

This.

I remember one really good performance from him recently, that Europa League match where Gary Neville's Valencia smashed someone like 10-0 on aggregate. That's it. He's definitely a good player but the prices being quoted seem crazy.

His passing looks very identical to Ander's. Very mediocre passing technique which means neither are really particularly creative. Herrera is very good on either foot too, and whilst Gomes is a lot better dribbling with the ball he isn't 'easily better' at the other side of technical stuff; first touch, close control, agility etc. all look similar.

I think you don't understand your own post ;)
I said box to box role mate. Kante is very defensive, he offers next to nothing offensively. His job is to win the ball back for his team and lay it off to a more creative player, not be a creative fulcrum himself.

He's not a box to box player. His job is shield the defense.

Did you watch Leicester, like, at all this season? He isn't the greatest passer but his carrying the ball, distribution and agility are very good and he is definitely far, far more than simply a defensive screen.

I'm not really 'infatuated' with him. Think he's a top talent though and if he gets it together he'll become a world class #8. Wouldn't be too fussed if we don't get him either.

He hasn't been great in all honesty. Looked abit leggy and is definitely playing too deep. He needs to play with more attacking freedom.. Portugal need to unleash either him or Sanches to inject some creative thrust into their midfield.
