I'm on record too of saying I thought his save highlight reel was very underwhelming and that they seem to hit him (bad finishes) rather than him saving them. Likewise he looks like he lacks agility and the ability to drop down low quickly. Handling is also an error, doesn't have a feel for the ball when saving it, palms it back where it comes from.

And yet De Gea kept the most clean sheets of any PL keeper last season. Weird that.
That wasnt on the keeper mainly, but players. Martinez, Varane and Casemiro were top class. Casemiro looks finished. Martinez is a shadow of his former self and Varane is a sicknote. Lindelöf is crap, the less he plays the better.

His main qualities are not used. I mean if we want someone that is world class on the line, then we should have gone for him. We know what Onana offers. We also bought Mount to press when we have Rashford sulking up front. Makes no sense. ETH is just a clueless manager.

Not concerned about him. Could've maybe done better with the 3rd goal but hardly a mistake. When we keep gifting teams clear chances with time to pick their spot, it's always going to be tough for the goalkeeper.

In a team like ours with our defence, it just seems like another terrible decision to sign him as has become common with Ten Hag.

For a very good team he can be a valuable asset to have in distribution and playing high up. He's not going to make a poor footballing side into a good one which is what some have thought. He's a good starting point or important piece if that is the aim/goal.
There's far too many phases in a game that aren't linked to the keeper where it's down the players ability and tactics alone that we've lacked so much, all Onana can do is pass to our poor functioning players quicker than De Gea and cut out some dangers in behind.

Yeh thats not true. Wolves had 6 on target according to the Premier League app and scored none.
He is City type of signing. If team is already built for possession football then he fits great. But in all other teams, he is just average goal keeper. His shot stopping is appalling.

He has avg. 4 saves per game. Right around the ballpark of the likes of Allison (3.8 spg) or Pope (3.5 spg).
Saves are not the problem, but the relatively easy shots he concedes from. He is on (-)1.4 currently on this season so far, on goals prevented stat, which is bottom half of the league statistically. But, I can still blame this to being new to the team & league.

Yep, very disappointing so far. I think everyone was clear on the fact Onana wouldn’t have those insane reflexes that DeGea possessed, but his skills with his feet were supposed to be good enough to outweigh the reflex defecit. Not yet, they aren’t. He seems like a one-trick pony, and now that teams have worked out how to nullify that trick, we’re left with a mid table keeper.
Thought this was an odd signing. In the sense spending 50 million on a keeper cos he’s good on the ball and it helps play from the back when you don’t even have a set footballing system in place. Degea did needed to go but we could have spent more than half this on a decent keeper. He doesn’t seem to make saves which was my concern when we signed him.

I still don’t see it with him. Getting rid of de Gea was the right decision but spending so much on this guy was another mistake by EtH.
He's definitely better on the ball, but that's about it. Has he been told not to come off his line? He definitely used to, but now he's rooted at set pieces. I also expected him to close down Fati, but he was about 2 yards off his line. He's doing quite a lot of things we complained about De Gea doing.
Shot stopping didn't look particularly great at any time when people were posting videos of him at Inter but I'm looking at the defence and centre midfield this season and i don't think there's a single player that hasn't made some contribution to the catastrophic goals we've conceded. It's hard to be mad at Onana at this point when you look at the protection he's got: check out Casemiro and Scot 'always works hard for the shirt' McTominay's defensive efforts to get back for the opening goal today. Check out the fullbacks vs Spurs (or even Wolves, though we didn't concede) or the amount of time Rice had in our own fecking box to get a shot away for Arsenal. It's just not good at all.
