Anderson on his way out?

I'll be happy is he stays, but we can't put too many eggs in that basket, we have to strengthen the midfield. If that means someone has to be sacrificied, he'll be high on the list. But I hope we find the way to get the midfield right and keep him. Maybe, just maybe, it'll finally click.

Can the title be changed to indicate it's a completely horseshit story.
Some of the tittery in this thread is unbelievable

a "- Goal.com" should probably be added to the title, or at least a question mark.

As I've said before on here, I'd be absolutely gutted if we got rid. I hardly ever remember thinking "Anderson was poor today" after a match, so the only problem for me is the injuries and I remain hopeful that they'll clear up. I think the weight thing gets blown out of proportion, sometimes jokingly but sometimes not.

You have a bad memory then.

I've slightly changed my position on this. A few weeks ago I was against him staying. Now though, having looked again, I wouldn't mind us giving him another chance purely because he's had more good games for us than bad. There's a good player in there, just needs the right circumstances to bring it out i.e run of games and less injury time.

Assessing our midfield, we have Scholes and Giggs who should be luxury and likely gone after this next season. Cleverley has shown promise and barring a bad injury would have gotten lots of game time. Carrick has proven himself well. Fletcher is a gamble considering his health. Then there's Anderson and we all know what's been said about him.
Looking at all that we need another midfielder considering the situations with everyone bar Carrick. We can't depend on them. As far as I see it, the squad rules mean we can still bring in another couple overage players so one of those should definitely be a midfielder. Would give us 2 solid options including Carrick and should allow us to carry the other 5. Considering the only worry with Scholes and Giggs is limiting their game time, the other 3 shouldn't be a burden.

Bang on roseguy.

If we were to sell Anderson, and Fletch never makes it back, it leaves us with just 2 CMs once Scholes & Giggs retire next summer... and Carrick will be 31, madness! Hence why there's zero chance of this happening.

Not unless United have something lined up.

So selling an average and injured alot player and bringing in someone else isnt an option.

Do you really think that the club arent well aware that giggs and scholes are nearly done and that carrick is around the 30 mark.
In fact they should be bringing in the replacements this summer, not letting it go another year of relying on the veterans.

so if that means anderson has to go to make room for a better long term replacement for the veterans then so be it.

He has had long enough. How long more must he be given before he realises his " potential "?

true, but I' m sure we will first see a player/ players joining us before we ship anybody out

we may not see anything.

For all we know there could be deals already signed and sealed.
Its silly season and its only out of the limelight at the moment because of the Euros....just wait until its over and we will be selling everyone and signing everyone.

Wouldn't be so sure about that, we're renowned for wrapping up all our transfers before these tournaments even begin, apart from the odd saga like with Berbatov. I wouldn't be surprised if we got another one of those with Modric or someone.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we were finished for the Summer.

thats it in a nutshell...no one would be surprised if anything did or didnt happen.

Berbatov got about 3 minutes playing time last season and yet there hasnt been a murmur about him leaving even though fergie pretty much said without stating that berbatov is finished at united. That one has to play out.

I think meself ( maybe hope) that we have a pre contract binding agreement with spurs to get modric and that it played a part in arry leaving the spuds.

i dont think that the transfers in or out at united this year are finsihed at all, I just think that we will be surprised by them, whether good or bad.

True about Berbatov, I do see a few leavers, probably Park too, but I dunno, the club really don't like buying players after June ends.

of course mate, but I'm sure that selling Ando before we secure our targets would put us in a very weak situation. on the other hand if we secure our targets and reveal them Ando's valuation will drop. Interesting game this :)

to be honest i dont rate anderson at all and wouldnt be bothered in the slightest if he left. He has never filled me with confidence that he can become top class and if a good offer comes for his it should be considered

I have a pain in my bollox with injured players and and unfulfilled potential with players at united.

Hrgreaves was immensley annoying as is Anderson.

giggs is too old
scholes cant be relied on for a full season
we dont know about fletcher
anderson the same
cleverly may be a gem
carrick getting on

We need to bring in one or two either way and the sooner the better

I like Anderson, I'd be sad if he left and became really good somewhere else.

At the start of this season amid all the Tom Cleverley excitement his contribution was largely overlooked.

If we were offered 15m for Anderson, there is no way it will be turned down.

feck yeah, for 15m I could retire and live a life of luxury!

There might be some legal ramifications though as I don't technically own Anderson but it's surely worth the risk.

I've always been a bit of an Ando fan boi and he started last season like a house on fire. Such a shame he's been hampered with injuries just as he got going. I'd love for him to get another year but if it be we move him on, then I would drive him out there in the Chev meself if I was Fergie or Gill

Been an admirer of his talents and always believed he'd be an immense player for us. I hope he stays for at least one more season and has luck on his side regarding injuries. At the same time, I also we don't pin all our hopes in him and take his injury record into account when preparing for the new season.

To reiterate, there is absolutely no point in selling the lad unless we bring in 2 new midfielders. It would be nuts to lose another midfielder given how unstable it is right now.

I think so too. I said earlier that if he stays we need one and if he goes we need two.

Yeah, if he does leave then hopefully we can sign a decent ("muppet") CM + squad cover for Carrick.

If we can recoup most of our outlay, we should sell him - as much as I like Ando.

Surely the injuries have to subside at some point, same with Cleverley. When they do I hope he is still here because he is fucing class. Brings another dimension to our play, he doesn't score or assist enough but we play with an energy and swagger as a team when he plays.

IMO he's a class player when he's fit, he's been part of enough big United wins to prove to me he 'can' hold his own against the best teams.

Have a hard time not thinking he's out of shape though, for a footballer, just looking at him.

He is a class player when on form and when fit. Which is about 5% of the time.

He's class at getting injured and eating food.

Putting in the odd class performance here and there doesn't make you a class player.

He's had some serious potential for a while and played well in fits and starts.

How anyone can think he is 'class' is beyond me.

Class refers to being in a certain grouping. There is world class, international class, premier league class, Sunday league class.... Without defining what level of class you believe him to be in there is no way anyone can say he is or isn't class
