It’s not that. He’s jus having a bad season. He’s not got the managers trust anymore, he’s not in our strongest 11. City are the best team in the league and we needed our best outfield player today. I feel kinda sorry for Ander, he’s all guts but maybe ultimately a little short on quality. Funnily enough I think he’d get back playing well if he started some games with Pogba.

I hate players like him who just roll around like a prick. Sorry but he has been pretty much useless the whole season. Our two biggest culprits this season have been Mkhi and Herrera, both when called upon have just disappointed. This guy cannot pass the ball forward, a useless player to say the least. Our midfield was run over but I wouldn't blame them so much. De Bruyne, Sliva and Fernandinho will run all over any midfield 2. They were never going to control it.

Also on Herrera, he's having a poor season but he's best as a defensive mid IMO. He can run all day and can be tidy on the ball for short quick passes, but should never be given a creative responsibility. Not his game.

LvG quite clearly hindered his attacking nature. As for Mourinho, he transformed him into a really good midfielder last season. God knows why he's a shadow of himself.

To me, he is a defensive number 10 similar to how he played in Spain. Pressing high up the pitch, playing through balls and supporting the wide players.

We're not seeing much of his accurate through passes because he plays too deep for us. He is actually very competent at receiving the ball on the turn and playing one or two touch football.

Like I say, his natural game is to chase the ball and receive it to feet. We should be aiming for a better standard of player than him, but I could see him playing this role very well in a big game where we need to stop deep players from having too much influence.

His touch is poor, he consistently gets drawn towards the ball, doesn't seem to have any spacial awareness unless he's doing a man on man job. If you're going to leave your position defensively, you need to know what space you're leaving behind and who's covering it. "He's actually very good at playing two touch football", it's news to me. He hasn't shown that consistently at any stage and that's what it needs to be about at this club, consistently.

He had a spell maybe a 12-15 months ago where I thought he looked good: tough, won the ball back and distributed it to better players, stayed in games etc. Ultimately though, to me at the minute, he looks like a player who runs uncontrollably and uses the ball poorly.

Of course he could do it from time to time I just dont think it's his forte.

His natural game was last season. This season he's out of form and him next to Matić doesn't exactly work.

He just isn't athletic enough to play a pressing game.

It annoys me so much when he goes charging towards somebody, for them to just side step him easily and run off. He turns like a boat and then has no pace to catch up again. He takes himself out of the game and countless times in the 2nd half Matic was left all alone chasing players back.

It's no surprise that his best period of form came when he was being played as a DM. He's deeper and can use his passing range better without being pressed. He does intercept quite well but only in tight spaces.

His lack of ability to carry the ball though is a real hindrance, he just doesn't work in a 2 man midfield.

He was great in 2014/15 (even scored in the final) but has declined sharply since. Nowadays, he’s a passenger in most games and he passes sideways a lot.

Pogba is a terrific player and Matic is a very good one, but after that your standards drop a lot. Herrera, Fellaini - not good enough for a team of your profile.
