Amorim's Rebuild

Thoughts on Dibling for when Southampton go down?
YES! Only player from the promoted teams that has really caught my eye other than Delap. Have been thinking he could be a very nice option at RWB, would hope he wouldn't cost more than 25 million if Saints go down. Stylistically if Amorim wants to keep playing left footers there he's a good fit, unreal ball carrier and pick a decent pass. Not an explosive athlete necessarily, but not bad. I do hope we look at more athletic players for the left sided wingback.

Could be an option as one of the 10s too but don't think he's a polished enough attacker for that yet, nor does he have the G+A output.

Thoughts on Dibling for when Southampton go down?
He looks like a player with good ball control, can dribble, and physically talented. But I wonder why everytime I watched Southampton and they managed to deliver the ball near the opposition box, and he often nowhere near to be seen in dangerous area to score or to help his team to score. It’s almost like he doesn’t see opportunity or lacks of goal instinct. Even when he came on as sub, he doesn’t seem got no clue when he’s not on the ball. It almost like he still lacks the intelligence to run into space and creating spaces for his team mate.

Any link to Ademola Lookman next summer? He and Amad as 10s would be insane.

Wirtz would be ideal but he seems unobtainable.

After winning CAF Men's African Footballer of the Year, Lookman's stock will rise by summer time, especially if Atalanta can make a serious push for the Scudetto.

I really think that we have a squad to challenge for title next year (with few transfers of course). Maybe because i am a huge fan of this system or Amorim or whatever but i do feel very optimistic.

Gk- all set. Not a big fan of Onana but in reality, there are not many world class gks out there.
Defence- De Ligt, Lisandro and Yoro are starters. Shaw and Maz can play those positions. So between Harry and Lindelof we must keep one. Or even both. I am fine with that if they will sign "normal" contracts.
Full backs - Dalot and Maz are great options on the right but we need starter on the left because Shaw just can't stay fit.
Dmc- Case, Ugarte and Mainoo are pretty good options but we need another creative dmc to avoid using Bruno there.
Amc. Bruno, Mount, Garnacho (?), Amad (and Zirkzee). All good.
Striker. We need starting striker and it should be our priority next summer. Hojlund and Zirkzee can fight for first backup.

New signings;
Priority no1; proven, top class, first choice striker.
Priority no2; creative starting defensive midfielder
Priority no3 (but not essential); left wing back
Optional; quick, young central defender

Sales.
Rashford is history. He just can't fit in this system.
Garnacho maybe for big money. Can he adapt on new position?
Lindelof or Maguire.
Eriksen. Strange one. I was thinking that he will be perfect for this system but seems to me thslat Amorim doesn't see him anywhere.

Rashford is earning close to £20m a year. Even if we sell him for £30m that's £50m off the books which is huge.

How have you watched us under Amorim so far and say lwb isn't essential. It's the biggest hole in our side since Amorim's arrival.

We desperately need a lwb.

I doubt Leeds would sell, at least not at a price we want to pay but I have always liked Gnonto, at 21 he seems to go under the radar but I think he could be a good option as a LWB, bit left field but he is better than Leeds

I know he is currently playing RM but the season before was playing LM, has mad skills, control, is rapid, strong and is a fighter, think he would be brilliant for Amorim

Few questions.

What makes you see this team as close to challenging?

Why would you keep Lindelof or Maguire? Maguire did well at the weekend, but his wages and squad status don’t warrant his wage, Lindelof weak physically, outmuscled, sell in Jan and get some money.

Do we need to splash on a 1st choice ST?
I thought Hojlund had looked better, could that money not be spent elsewhere, as when he had service he has scored.

LWB not a priority?
Surely has to be the 1st guy, Dalot been awful and have created nothing down that side.

Eriksen might have suited the style of football, but he has no legs, can’t run as shown in the Ipswich game, game passed him by.

In two big away games we played as equal side. Amorim is here only one month and you can see patterns of play. That is, for me, reason to believe that next season everything will click.
Regarding defenders; i said that we need one more on top first trio. If we can buy new one then awesome. But if we can't then we obviously must keep one of those 2. With both we have plus one year option so it is not a huge thing. In best case scenario, yes, they both should go.
Regarding striker; in Ruben's system striker is THE focal point of attacks. In his system you don't have goal scoring wingers. So, you need a reliable goal maschine up front. Imo, Hojlund and Zirkzee are not that.
Regarding left back. Striker and creative dmc are bigger priority and absolute must. IF we can afford third player then sure, starting left back would be great.

Again, just an opinion of random fan. :)

Oh not having a go just gauging your opinion.

Was just curious, I see the huge improvement but I feel we have a lot of players we need to sort out and holes to be consistent enough for that.

I get the players have looked better, I just think we need to recruit, as quite a lot have been here long enough to see the normal performances.

For me I see LWB, CAM, CM & RWB as the main priorities as I see Amad moving to one of the 10s.

Always good to gauge others opinions :)

Priorities:
1. LWB
2. LWB/LB cover
3. Goal scoring centre forward
4. Eriksen replacement in the midfield

Departures:
1. Lindelof
2. Malacia
3. Shaw
4. Rashford
5. Antony

The departures can offset the priorities not that over us getting huge money from those 5 players on current contracts.

Onana
Yoro - de Ligt - Martinez
Mazraoui - Ugarte - Bruno - Davies
Amad - Rodrygo
Hojlund

I am on same page with Fergie, Conte or Mourinho regarding priorities. Give me a world class striker then we can talk about other positions. :)

But yeah, Davies (for example) for left back would be brilliant signing. I wouldn't mind that.

News today is Nuno Mendes and Theo Hernandez are the left back targets.

Mendes may be a goer given the link to Sporting and Amorim. But would PSG deal?

Also links to Matheus Cunha and Nico Williams for the forward position.

Rashford+20m swap

Yep. He's the odd man out in that side. He's too good not to be a guaranteed starter for them, and he isn't if everyones fit.
Not sure they would be happy to sell him to us especially cause according to this we nicked Davies from them as well ;)

I agree we have a worry at ST if Hojlund doesn't develop this season.

I just think unless we improve the supply, through our wingbacks and attacking midfielders, by creating chances then it won't matter who we have upfront as they won't have the service to score.

I also think our deeper midfielders need improving in order to break the lines and sustain attacks, something we haven't done for a long time, which has increased our XG without increasing the teams actual quality.

Hernandez would be great. I have always rated him. Williams looked good in Euros and also before that. But i have heard he's having very average season? No idea is he that good after all.

All perfect however can’t see one of them signing, both left backs are £50m+, Cunha £60m, N Williams £50m buy out plus ridiculous wages wanted ?

I’m interested to see if the club will choose to replace Rashford with another high level player like Williams or Kvaratskhelia, or if we will sign a younger backup and trust Garnacho/Amad for the role.

Wirtz would be a no go. Williams would be hard due to his wages.

Good shout. He could be cover for both wing back positions and maybe even an attacking role.

The market for Rashford is dead. Nobody that could afford him would want him.

Realistically speaking youd have to accept an offer for someone to pick up half his wages. Spurs paid 170k a week for Werner on loan. That is the type of club and player that would take Rashford.

Nico Williams would be insane if we could get him in. Like he would actually be worthy of the high wages he's likely to need

Badly need a LWB, a CM and a 10. Can see high profile signings in those positions in the next two windows if we can sell some of the obvious players, Rashford (FFP), Casemiro (wages), Antony (recoup part of fee).

I think he definitely ends up at Barca, but he would bring so much excitement to Old Trafford.

I don’t actually think we will be targeting big money targets. I think we will make some strategic signings in the 30-50m range.

I really like Nico Williams, but isn't he more of an attacking left winger? Can he track back and play a regular left-midfielder? Else we could just as well develop Garnacho imo.

Gotta go all in after Wirtz imo. Fernandes is 30 and Amorim seemingly plays him in central midfield next to Ugarte too. There'll always be room for such a class player.

Let's not fool ourselves to think Mount will be the answer long term like we did with Shaw. Too many injuries.

Not saying we should get Williams, but not sure what Barca are going to do moving forward with signings, Olmo will not be able to play after xmas due to their financial constraints

Been a lot of noise about Wirtz going to Madrid with Alonso in the summer.
