Personally I think he's been managed quite well over the last couple of seasons. He had a great loan at Sunderland and this season has been challenged to take another step up to the next level here, a challenge that he's starting to rise to.

He hasn't had much game time because when he was given opportunities earlier in the season he wasn't putting in the required effort, particularly off the ball, and then injuries extended his absence.

He's had opportunities recently and has looked a completely different player; pressing, harrying, tracking back, and generally working hard. That attitude will earn him plenty of opportunities, just like we've seen Garnacho earn a starting space after improving his level of effort.
He had long injury since preseason.

We bitch about our players who can't or want to keep the ball. Treating the ball like it's some hot potato.

Amad isn't one of them.

Btw anyone still doubt about his speed? He has it in his locker but just doesn't use it unless it's needed. And in this case keeping up with garnacho

I really like how he skillfully treats the ball. He's really clever with pass and move, or just comfortably carry the ball.

He does seem weak, but that would be much easier to improve than skill and football brain.

Pretty sure his suspension puts him out of the semi final rather than the next league game. Chelsea were without Enzo today for that exact reason.

weird post today
Nope, I don't kneejerk like most of this forum.

Today was incredible in the proper United fashion (last one I remember was that Jose PL game on New Year's Eve where we finished with two defenders) but let's not get deluded.

This season has not been good enough and it has mostly been on the manager. Amad should have featured a lot more and proper squad management would have ensured that. Just look at the state of Bruno. These things take their toll in the long term but football fans just have pathetic attention spans.

Damn, this is bang on.

Last year when Maguire was suspended due to a double yellow in the FA or Carabao cup, Bruno came back for Newcastle in the Carabao final after a straight red because he served his suspension in the league. Just a dumb rule overall.

Hopefully, Amad can play against Brentford though

No, Enzo was out because of 2 yellow cards accumulated in previous rounds.

So pleased he took his chance today. His workrate was exceptional & he didn’t look out of place in such a big occasion. The composure on the finish was out of this world. Really hope we get to see a lot more of him over the next couple of months.

It doesn't and we really need to just accept that by now

His strike was obviously absolutely brilliant given the sheer precision in such a high pressure moment, but that first touch deserves even more praise. The pass was short and allowed the defender Bradley to close the space but he was intelligent enough in that split second to shift it last minute to the left to get a shot away. Great stuff - hope he gets more chances.

You are 100% correct. Though I would attribute his physical weakness due to lack of match-fitness,. He did struggle with the physicality at the championship initially. But eventually he was difficult to brush off, especially since he has such a magical first touch and the ball is glued to his feet.

He's one of the few players we have who can play with looking up. I always thought he would be perfect for an ETH style of football. A attacking conductor.

But after that interview and based on his player selection, god knows who fits the ETH style or what an ETH style of football is anymore.

That was just great to see Amad work himself into the game like that. Two interceptions leading to two goals. And what a cool finish!

Considering how little he has played and the internal angst/frustration he must be dealing with, he had very good composure to place the ball just out of the goalie's reach.

He's always been class in my opinion, just his frames a bit light but I think he's just one of those players that can keep the ball for days and pick the right option.

Strange we aren't really playing him more. But he has been injured.

His workrate yesterday was immense and he definitely deserves more chances. Hopefully he's put himself into serious contention now.

And that winner was all him. Nicked the ball off the toes of the Liverpool player (not the first time he did that yesterday), then used a bit of guile to make up for a mediocre pass from Garnacho to create the space needed for the shot. That was a subtle touch of class.

He did very well, for a moment it looked like he was playing the pass to Garnacho, defender just took one step back and he got the space he needed.

Very good performance by him, holding the possession even in right situation, pressing and then scoring the winning goal.

So happy for him, hopefully he gets the same trajectory as Garnacho and Mainoo from now on, meaning he secures the place in starting 11

Slightly off topic but I thought the Bradley sub was horrendous by Klopp. He was absolutely rinsed over and over by Garnacho and Amad also killer him for the goal. Maybe another young player better going forward for Liverpool than working backwards.

Not just a goal. A goal at the death of extra time in the QF of the FA Cup in the Stretford End against your biggest rival to win it. Refs need to read the room on those. Not like it was at Anfield and he taunted scousers.

And don't want to hear it is "by the book" if ref went by the book Mac Allister would have been off
Yeah I won't blame the ref, I blame the rules and how this seems a bigger issue than other stuff like diving.

Surely earned some minutes when back form suspension. Looked composed and willing to put in a shift. Would honestly like to see both him, Mount and Antony used more late in matches during the run in. We lacked so much energy in the second half, having 3 players that can at least inject some of that seems really important.

Could not agree more. This can be a template where Eriksen and Bruno are used to keep the ball while the rest provide the legs.

His first yellow was actually ridiculous. The Pool player tried to take a free kick at least 5 yards away from its original position, but he still got booked after the ball was booted at him from a yard away and then the ref actually made them move the ball back to the position it should have been taken from originally anyway.

Essentially a Liverpool player tried to cheat, but a United player gets booked. Pretty much sums up the refs performance.

Amad trying to get his shirt back on when he realised he was about to get sent off was comedy gold though.

Watched it back, the goal was even better than I thought. It was a poor pass but the way he opened his body to adjust and the shot was perfect placement.

Don't think he is weak at all. Actually gained a lot of muscle and he is one of those players that use their body really well.

He hasn't got a chance at United unfortunately. Antony is Ten Haags man. Yes he dropped Antony but he's just playing for time until he finds a bit of form and can get him back in. Playing Forson ahead of Amad him says everything. Amad needs a run of games. He will never get that.

That’s actually what he wanted to do as per his post match interview but he was smart enough to change his decision.

Nar, Ten Hag has shown time and time again, he’ll give McTominay, Maguire, AWB big chances to come back in from the cold if they perform and he has no problem leaving anyone out if they don’t (Cas, Varane, Antony). If Amad continues to impress, he’ll get playing time, same goes for Antony after his excellent cameo yesterday.

He’s got a lot of tactical stuff wrong ETh, but being fair to players, giving youth a chance and always offering an olive branch is something he’s very good at.

Ten Haag on Diallo.

“He does not always get the time to play he deserves by his training performances but then he is coming on, then he shows his contribution, scoring a goal. But we know he can do it, we know he has the key moments where he can decide a game. I am very pleased he got the winner.

‘We had another sub, Antony, who scores an equaliser, he is also in a problematic situation but you see he is fighting as well, he wants to contribute as well. I’m very happy with the bench today.’

We all want a strong squad. That means good players on the bench. You can’t have one without the other.

The Forson thing was weird though. Can’t work out the logic there. Should have been an opportunity for Diallo instead. Hopefully yesterday means Amad is ahead of him in the pecking order from now on.

I have to disagree with Antony vs Diallo and frankly most of your post. Antony was played for a lot in first half of season before being dropped, despite being awful. He was then often the go to sub despite some woeful performances, the Wolves away cameo probably the worst sub appearance in a long time for United. Sure Antony scored yesterday and we can all be happy for that, but he has shown nothing to merit so much game time. Anyone who watched a bit of Diallo in youth teams and then at Sunderland could see something a bit special. He's not that strong but coped with championship football, I have felt the lack of game time in last months was really poor. Lets not forget he was a last throw of the dice from ETH yesterday. Which is not to take anything from the win, but there are still big flags on his assessment of players. Giving McT and Maguire chances after he was all for selling them in the summer, then for a stretch they were both first choice starters, was flagged by some of the press as questioning whether ETH knows his best team or what he wants the team to do. Then add in the Forson thing, or that he obsessed with Antony ahead of Kudus, who West Ham signed from Ajax for less than half the price and looks far more suited to PL with his pace and physicality than Antony ever does. One point is that our squad is a lot better than some want to admit, which doesn't suit the narrative that we can't judge ETH. We all need a bit of luck and maybe this is for ETH, but lets see where he goes from here.

The goal itself seemed impossible with the angle and using his left foot - it could not have been more perfect.

I know, right? The pass from Garnacho wasn't quite right, needed to be in front of Amad for him to run onto. Instead took him wide on his weeker foot. The strike isn't the cleanest, either, but couldn't have placed it any better.

Also, that first yellow was harsh. They need to clamp down on free kicks and throw ins being taken miles away from where they ought to be.

Youth players have the unfair task of having to have a big moment in order to win their place but boy did he do just that.

Perhaps now all the idiots who have seem him play for 10mins will stop slagging off youth for the sake of it.

He was a bit timid when he first came on and i suspect he'd been told to feed it to Garnacho as its all he did. Once he's had some match sharpness and built an understanding with players the lad will shine.

The goal gets better the longer you look at it. The subtle dummy. The rolled pinpoint finish.

The kid has ice in his veins.

Things like that can't be coached/taught. That's a special talent. Who knows why he hasn't gotten more chances. Hopefully that changes now
