All Rossi transfer speculation here please

Pathetic, really.

It says a lot about the club we're in danger of becoming.

I mean, how, honestly, can a player in the reserves hope to get into the first team if Rossi can't?

The boy had an unbelievable record.

I know it's important that United stay competitive, but if that means merely being a buying club, winning won't be as satisfying. Not nearly.

Its Crazy - at least wait till the Tevez deal is all done - though prehaps it is!!!

Smiths will prob stay now.

was thinking the same thing, surely we wouldn't let him go without getting tevez

fecking hell ! I will not question Sir Alex, but I simply cant understand why we should sell someone like Rossi and possibly keep someone like smith. Christ..

This guy was fecking good enough, he's one of the best talents ever to have come from our youth academy. How can you say that when he didn't even get a fecking chance? He should have been given a season to prove he can play with the big boys!

Maybe he didn't want to stay and try and fight for a spot.
SAF has said he wanted to keep him only a week ago.

SAF must have another striker in mind (Bar Teves)

Last time we sold a player to Villareal he cost them 2 million euro and a couple of years later they sold him for a 19 million euro profit. I hope we haven't fecked up again.

"Reports suggest that Villareal are in pole position to sign the Manchester United man, as they are ready to bid £7m after completing Diego Forlan’s sale to Atletico Madrid."

I genuinely do not understand this at all - there has to be something behind it (a shit attitude ? a gambling problem ? SOMETHING). It makes no sense to me why we'd flog one of our brightest young talents. We now have ONE fecking striker as far as I'm concerned, with only 2 weeks til the season kicks off. Nice fecking work that - nice work.

If we was good enough he would have made it!

He showed how great he could be in Serie A. Why not give him the chance to reproduce this in the PL?

What the feck we are going to do if Tevez is in limbo for months?

I just can't believe we are doing this.

feckING GREAT :wenger:

Spend £30 million on two young players with similar experence to Rossi and let him go on the cheap. Goes to prove we no longer give our young lads a chance. Pique might as well look for a move now because he is never going to get a decent chance.

Lets now go out and spend a ridiculous sum on Tevez, i'm pissed off

United have agreed an undisclosed fee with Spanish side Villarreal for 20-year-old striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian Under-21 international spent last season out on loan with Newcastle in the Premier League and, later in the season, his former club Parma in Serie A.

A club spokesman told ManUtd.com: "United has reached agreement with Villareal for the permanent transfer of Giuseppe Rossi for an undisclosed fee.

"The transfer is subject to a medical which is expected to take place in Spain tomorrow."

Rossi joined United from Italian side Parma in July 2004 and immediately impressed in United's Reserves, netting 13 times in his first 19 starts.

His performances in the second string quickly saw him called up to the first-team squad in November 2004, where he made his first-team debut against Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup in a 2-0 win.

A further 13 appearances and four goals followed, but the New Jersey-born forward couldn't quite earn a regular place in United's first team.

Good luck to him. Never thought he would make it at OT.

I have no doubt Rossi is a great talent but it looks like he didn't want to stay and fight for his spot. What can we do if he wanted to leave?

Smith and Heinze'll probably got for around £7m and all. £21m recouped. . .which means, we've not actually spent that much.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To guarantee Rossi first team football (something that is probably one of the reasons for him leaving) someone would've had to be sacrificed. Who would that be? This isnt exactly shocking news. It's a shame to see him go, but for him to make it he should start playing regular first team football at this point of his career..

Don't forget the £5,5 million we got for Richardson. So we have spent £28 million so far and are about to sell players that could bring in a total of £26 million...

I was so certain he will make it... But I trust Fergie. Good luck to Giuseppe!

I think we will soon(this week) hear that

a, the Tevez deal is finalised

b, we are signing yet another new player.

Defoe

Saha is injured, Smith about to be sold, Dong is shite and Ole past his best

He must have something in mind

He did say he was interested in another striker. We shall see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

Disappointed:annoyed:...Rossi didn't even get a chance to prove at OT :( And if we better use our fund from selling Rossi and Smith to get another great striker...We can't expect Rooney and Tevez to be a sufficient strikeforce throughout the season. There's bounded to be some down time for one of them (if we do get Tevez)

Yeah and we have only one striker, yippeee - happy days

Well this all but proves that the academy system just doesn't work. If Rossi of all people can't make it at United, what hope does any other of the lot have. To be brutally honest, Rossi has been our best player we've had in the reserves for years.

Pique will probably follow him out now.
