Rossi snubs Serie A

Giuseppe Rossi will not return to Italy to star in next season’s Serie A according to his agent Federico Pastorello.

The Under-21 international impressed during his six-month loan spell at Parma, where he scored seven goals in 19 appearances contributing to their Serie A survival.

Rossi, who is owned by Manchester United, has been told that he can leave the Premiership outfit and several sides have targeted the striker, including Napoli and the Ducali.

“I am confident that we can soon end this soap opera about Rossi,” Pastorello revealed to Radioblu.

The are several foreign outfits interested in his services, I believe a transfer can be finalised by the end of tomorrow,” added the US-born striker’s representative.

“I am fairly sure that his future will either be in England or Spain. Fiorentina? They never presented an offer,” concluded Pastorello.

Reports suggest that Villareal are in pole position to sign the Manchester United man, as they are ready to bid £7m after completing Diego Forlan’s sale to Atletico Madrid.

that's what rossi can do though. He has elusive abilities in that he doesn't have to hold the ball up he can outsmart most defenses. His touch and awareness are great and he is capable of running with the ball and scoring out of nothing. I hope he stays, his agents hinted Rossi wants games so I hope he's told how important he could be at our club because most people that have watched his development realize what an incredible talent he is. I don't think i'm going overboard either. Technically speaking he's got 'it' - I cannot think of one game where Rossi's not shown quality. He's much more then a goalscorer. Hopefully he'll get a look in on wednesday. I'm sure if he does the fans will make him feel wanted

He is also a good creator of goals. There has to be a reason if the rumours are true that Juve want to offer cash plus Palladino for Rossi. Please Fergie don't sell him!, he's almost like the class of 92 players. He is quality, dont sell him and give him a chance to shine alongside the rest of the first teamers.

On MUTV now

Why the feck are we selling him?

just heard it on breaking news on MUTV...fee is undisclosed however

I suppose Tevez, Rooney and Rossi are three very similar players, so he became surplus to requirements. Still hope we learned from our Forlan mistake and put in a sell on clause.

Hmm..guess they are going to stick with the tevez transfer, even if it takes a long time. I hate to see Rossi leave, but I suppose he is not as good as Tevez.

Just announced on MUTV....joining Villarreal for an undisclosed sum and is on his way to Spain for a medical.

Didn't really get a chance in my view but apparently the player wanted the guarantee of regular first team football rather sit in the reserves for another year.

Obviously he wants games. it's a pity. Good luck to him. I'm sure most fans are disappointed at the news. Will be a massive success there.

United have agreed an undisclosed fee with Spanish side Villarreal for 20-year-old striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italian Under-21 international spent last season out on loan with Newcastle in the Premier League and, later in the season, his former club Parma in Serie A.

A club spokesman told ManUtd.com: "United has reached agreement with Villareal for the permanent transfer of Giuseppe Rossi for an undisclosed fee.

"The transfer is subject to a medical which is expected to take place in Spain tomorrow."

Rossi joined United from Italian side Parma in July 2004 and immediately impressed in United's Reserves, netting 13 times in his first 19 starts.

His performances in the second string quickly saw him called up to the first-team squad in November 2004, where he made his first-team debut against Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup in a 2-0 win.

A further 13 appearances and four goals followed, but the New Jersey-born forward couldn't quite earn a regular place in United's first team.

So who is going to play upfront now? VDS?

Why didn't he go to Parma? That move would have made more sense.

Fergie must think that hes not upto it.

I always thought he would make it at OT.

He was never really given a chance.

Watch him score 20+ for Villareal like Forlan did.

STUPIDITY, ABSOLUTE STUPIDITY!

This will be looked as one of the biggest transfer mistakes we have ever made.

Would have been nice to see him get a chance, but I guess there is too much competition in his way. It seems a strange move too you would have thought he would have gone back to Italy if he was going any where.

what a loads of shit, f*cking joke to think we are willing to sell him.

So We just have Rooney, Smith until he goes, The injury experiment machine "Saha" and Dong.

Basically if we sell Smith we just have Rooney as the only striker fit at the moment, with Saha out and Tevez not even close to end the Saga.
And Dong is a joke so i wouldnt mention him.

Well Fergie is you are a magician do your tricks cause i cant see options if not to play Nani or Anderson upfront
