All Rossi transfer speculation here please

Agreed. This is a last pre-season deja vu at the Caf after Ruud was sold. People wanted Rooney to continue setting the stage alight, Rossi to get first team football, Ole to feature, Saha to continue from where he left off, etc, etc

Classic case again of having one's cake...
Not really. Even if we buy Tevez. Quartet of Rooney, Tevez, Saha and Rossi would get enough games among themselves, especially given Saha's injury woes. Don't think Ole would feature much in coming season other than in last 5 mins appearances or in cup games.

Wait with comments Chief.

SAF is not stupid.
Exactly!. Like Sherlock Holmes he alone sees teh reason behind thsi decision. All will be revealed soon hopefully....

If we have Tevez there is no reason to panic, even if Smith goes.
No one is panicking. We are just pointing out the blatant fact Tevez is not secured, Smith is leaving too, Rossi is sold and Rooney is our only fit and proven striker going into the start of the new season. What happens if he gets injured before we secure Tevez?

I just thought it was weird how Fergie would sell Rossi when we still haven't secured Tevez yet...or maybe Fergie expects that to be resolved within the next week or two. I can't see Fergie letting Rossi go just like that if he wasn't sure about Tevez, I trust his decisions.

Though I am not for impressed with selling Rossi too, can't help but laught at NHFC's reactions...

Fergie is rarely wrong when it comes to selling players. If Rossi was the player many on here think he is, Sir Alex would never have let him go.

No worries.

really spend 30 mil quid on tevez and sell rossi ...brilliant , i hope we dont fecking get tevez and whoever is behind that learns the fecking lesson

fecks sake the stupidest thing that could possibly happen

You feckin prick.

PRICK!

Look man, nobodys happy about this but it does not justify hoping for the Tevez deal to collapse, turn off your pc for a couple of hours and cool off man.

Do you support United or Giuseppe Rossi??

Has it actually dawned on Fergie that at this moment he's facing the whole season with just Wayne Rooney, and a couple of injury prone players, who are injured, as front men?

It what person's mind is this a good idea?

I think he probably knows.

Great

We were short on strikers last season. To solve this, we're selling two of them without having brought anyone in

Good move that. Certainly wont be likely to feck us over in any way

We have a lot of attacking players that can play as a striker if need be. No one here knows why Rossi has been sold. He probably wanted a first team place that couldn't be guaranteed at United.

Way too much whining going on here without people knowing any details.

And to the guy who said that Rossi is better than Saha - you're a complete idiot.

We will get Tevez or keep Smith

May be Fergie is banking that we will get as much luck as we got in last season...or he already found a hidden gem somewhere on cheap. Only left with 31 days to find an alternative besides Tevez. Ole and Saha are still not fully recovered.

Yes, aside from the muppetry, I recall people being concerned that we were short of numbers up front. It was mainly dismissed as sillyness

Then, in January, Ferguson brought in Larrson, due to us being so short of numbers up front.

Now we have the same situation again, except with less players, and more injuries.

I wonder what will be likely to happen here

Yes, that was when Smith was injured. He returned and filled in the Larsson back-up void

You'd have sold Smith ahead of Rossi? It too would've been a risk. Rossi isn't proven in the Premiership

We are probably going to play a withdrawn forward even in league games as opposed to the Europe/Top league teams discussed previously. It leaves Scholes, Rooney, Anderson, Tevez and even Giggs for that role along with Rooney, Saha, Smith and Tevez for the striker's role

I think he probably knows.

Well, it's unlikely that it's going to work. He might consider doing something about it, such as waiting until he's got someone in, before selling our only two other strikers

We're struggling for numbers in the Reading game already. When you've got that problem before any games have even been played, it's probably worth thinking about a bit more

Well, we better hope Tevez joins ASAP.

I think most of United fans would choose Rossi over Smith. The latter has hardly made any impact while playing for us heart and effort only takes you so far. At the end of the day he is just not good enough to play for us.

And it is not like we are only going to buy players who are proven in PL. And how can you expect Rossi to prove himself in PL without giving him a chance?

The sale of rossi hurts United more than it does rossi. before he needed to be assured he will get a proper chance, now is guaranteed a first team place.
just check up on la liga once in a while this season.

i support United but i cant support such decisions, i need to accept it since its the reality but i have no obligation of supporting or liking it.

am i being clear enough ?

and besides cant shut off my computer im working on something.

If we don't get Tevez, I reckon Fergie will play Rooney and Ronaldo upfront for quite a few games with Nani on the wings....

I'm looking forward to seeing amnesia set in when we sign another two strikers and i'll be looking even more forward to seeing it mid season when we're riding high in the league.

Rossi was sold because of he's career, but also because of the average age of our strikers dictates that he would be waiting for a first team place behind strikers no more than four or five years older than him who are still learning their trade.

We need strikers how can come stright into the first team without SAF having to worry about the weight on their shoulders. In other words a tried and tested option, Rossi for all he's promise is still learning so either he does that alongside a player further down the line of development he's talent in Rooney or we look for a player with similar or more experiance than Rooney.

We also need a lead striker which rossi isn't so, its not just about Rossi himself it's also about what is imediately needed for the squad.

feck.... I watched MUTV and before a commercial break they said something about a big, exlusive news coming up.... thought it was some much sought after tevez news, but this I had not expected.... feck again!

Guess this either is a signal that United are VEEERY confident that Tevez is ours, or that SAF and Rossi has had some sort of argument regarding his rank in the club.

Selling both Smith and Rossi during this week will leave us with too few strikers, but remember that SAF said today that "this (situation with Tevez case going to court) forces us to look at alternatives".

We will buy another striker. Tevez or not.

Difficult one.

Rossi needs opportunities on the pitch. United probably would have preferred him to stay as 4th striker. Unfortunately we have so many players that can play in the hole and Rossi's size makes him an unlikely front man.

Personally I'd never have gone for Tevez but once that happened Rossi's opportunities looked limited.

Am I the only one who rates Smith in here? Obviously not a regular starter bit can easily open teams in the bottom half of the league up. Watford in the Cup semi and Roma?

People seem to think even Adi Akinbayi could've done that looking at how Smith all of a sudden's become a liability

How soon people forget Smith scored a handful of vital goals early in the 04-05 season when United's depth at forward was depleted. True he hasn't exactly lit up the scoreboard since then, but he's also been used in central midfield, as a scrub playing a few minutes here and there, not to mention the broken leg and other trips to the treatment room. He's a good forward able to play all over the pitch. Not a bad option to have on the bench. I surely hope SAF retains Smith until Tevez is officially signed. The club can't count on Saha to stay fit and Ole as well.
