Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

He's turned us down twice in the past already but it wouldn't hurt submitting a bid...
They've sold us Van Persie so I don't see why Arsenal wouldn't sell Sanchez to us?

The only signing we can make that will genuinely make us serious title contenders! Him and a CDM but I'd pay the 70-80m for him they want give them it he's worth every penny!

Selling Sanchez to us is a genuine sackable offence

Selling to City isn't? Arsenal have much more history in selling their players to City than they do to us. Are you then suggesting that if Sanchez is sold, Wenger should be sacked? He just signed a new two year deal. The club knows Sanchez isn't happy. Sanchez himself has admitted he wants to be playing Champions League football. If he won't renew his contract, then Arsenal should take the money and run. Surely, allowing Sanchez to leave for free is just as bad as selling him to a rival but having upwards of £60m in the bank to replace him with?

can anyone point out genuinely where he said he prefers city? All looks like media guess work.

Anyway, this is what he's said apparently:

DEzMGMSWAAESKxL.jpg

My interpretation of it:

"The decision I have made. I have to wait for arsenal's response, it depends on them, what they want"

I have made my decision but it is up to arsenals to see if the will listen to it

"My idea is to play the champions league and win it"

Wants to play CL

"But for now i am in the arsenal"

But i have a contract with arsenal, so I have to honour it unless they decide otherwise

"I finish my contract in one more year"

there is one year left in my contract, after that i can choose a club with best chance of winning CL

Yeah, why on earth would we want one of the best players in the league joining us!

Having read a lot of your recent posts, I'm amazed you have 1 like in your 11,000+ posts and that you've lasted 15 years on here!

I'm amazed that anyone has more than a few thousand posts but ho hum...

No they wouldn't. Selling Sanchez to us is a genuine sackable offence; the last time they sold us a player of that calibre we won the league.

It is not true - losing him on a free to an English rival would, especially it it happens after another poor season for their team (which is likely)

I'm not sure Real or Barca will be very interested.

Realistically who do we think Arsene would rather sell him to?

City - Further strengthing an already impressive squad. Starting to make Arsenal look like a feeder club.
United - Hated us during the Fergie years, also has a hatred for Jose.
Chelsea - Both clubs hate each other, it would be a sign of weakness to sell your best player to your neighbours.

Out of the three clubs, I think he'd actually prefer Sanchez to sign for us if forced.

I'd be gutted if we didn't even bid for Sánchez. We have got rid of so many players on high wages this year, that his demands shouldn't even make us worried.

This is a rare, proven, world-class player who is a realistic target for us. Make Sánchez our new #7!

It would be quite stupid for him to do so. Silva, Silva, Sterling, Sane, KDB, Jesus, Aguero... they have enough attacking talent, contrary to, let's say, us...

Lukaku Martial Mata Mykytarin Pogba have you forgotten about these guys? A serious underrating of our squad here.

Wonder if an offer including Smalling would work. I remember Arsenal being linked with him quite regularly?

Barring Van Persie, none of those players are proper match winners and none of them will be the difference maker in the other team.

A lot of them were amongst the top players in the league when leaving to be fair to the original poster.

If City get Sanchez, I'll be gutted. Put your house on them winning the league

No chance he comes to us. We might be in the CL, but that wasn't because of our league position. We atm aren't a club that can guarantee CL football every season.

I thought it had already been decided that City were winning the league next year (to add to the two they've just won back to back).

When they signed Bernardo Silva the league was theirs. Then when they get linked with Mendy and whoever else the league is theirs. Now if they sign Sanchez the league is theirs.

Scary, frightening, unstoppable, City aren't messing around, terrifying. Same shit, different year.

Let's not, there's this strange overrating of City every single season in recent years.

Remember they were supposed to walk away with it the last 2 seasons too?

I wasnt keen on City previous 2 seasons tbh Stones, Sane, Otamendi didnt actually scare me but them signing accomplished premier league proven stars like Sanchez and Walker (I'd say he's among the top 3 RB's in the league) has me worried. Mixed with thier young guns like Sane and Jesus I would say they are the clear favourites. Just because they choked last time, dosen't mean they'll choke every season.

The last 2? It feels like it has been said every summer since 2012.
I was going to say that, which no doubt would have led to someone pointing out they did win one during that time.

I'm not denying they have a good squad, but some people on here seem to think they are on the level of Real, Barca & Bayern when they clearly are not. Let's not forget they only confirmed top 4 in the final fortnight or so.

Why do people say there will be riots like they haven't sold Cole, Toure, Adebayor, Gallas, Nasri, Clichy, van Persie and Sagna to Premier League rivals in the past? The Arsenal fans would have their tantrum and then start jizzing when Lacazette bangs a few in at home to Brighton. Wenger is clearly happy to sell to rivals and has once again fecked up by having a player who wants out in the last year of his contract. He obviously won't want him to go for free so if Sanchez asks for transfer he has to sell him to anyone who has the £££.

Unfortunatley I only see him going to City in the PL.

Situation has changed a lot since then. The last player sold directly to a rival was Van Persie and that was five years ago.

Since then Ozil, Sanchez and Cech have all come in , big money has been spent on the likes of Xhaka and Mustafi.

The climate has also massively changed at Arsenal. During those years there was an acceptance that the best players had to be sold because of the stadium move - that excuse simply won't cut it anymore. Not to mention Wenger situation has completely changed - he's under massive pressure now by what I'd call the majority of the fan base. It's quite calm now because of the way the season ended and the signing of Lacazette but selling Sanchez to a premier league rival would bring all that ill feeling back again you can guarantee that.

You've also got to consider that in those years Arsenal were still in the Champions League and therefore the board were satisfied as they were still getting that massive revenue but they will know that selling Sanchez especially to premier league rival like United would make that even harder.

Call me naive but I genuinely believe that unless a big offer comes from abroad then Arsenal might take the risk of keeping him for the final year but we will see.

If Sanchez is available for transfer then we should be going all out to get him. He'll improve the team, be playing with arguably better players (Sorry resident Arsenal fans) score loads of goals and win trophies.

I'm not sure rejecting 70-80m this summer and watching him leave for free next summer will make Arsenal fans much happier.

Think you'd be surprised and the reason is at least the board has shown a bit of bollocks. If Sanchez decides to leave on a free and join United or City/ Chelsea then that's his decision. The board will take some flack for allowing him to get in that situation but they will cut themselves some slack for forcing him to do one more year. Don't get me wrong if an offer like that comes from abroad then he'll be gone with an instance but from a rival it makes it a lot more difficult. This is not just about money - if Arsenal sell to a rival club they are effectively saying nah we aren't a big club we can't compete and that is extremely damaging to them at this moment given the current climate. On a side note I don't think anyone is picking up a 28 year old Sanchez for anything over 60 million with one year left on his deal.

I would genuinely love this to happen. Great player who would massively improve our team.

Never gonna happen though.

Well, in the end I don't think fans care that much about what the club spends if they keep spending. If Arsenal can come up with the money to "replace" Sanchez after forcing him to stay this season, it's quite a statement. But on the other hand, refusing to accept the money this season and not having the money to replace him next summer is just stupid.

I think people are massively overstating the drama if Arsenal sold Sanchez to United.

It's not as if we're rivals for the title in my view. It's an easy PR job to say we're delighted to get £60m for someone in the final year of their contract, who wanted to leave.

This would also be done at board level, so I don't think managerial personalities come into it.

Exactly, I don't think the Arsenal board will be like, let's sell him to City for less money cause Arsene gets on better with Pepe.

Signing Sanchez would make you contenders though, and would make Arsenal non-contenders.

Arsenal are non-contenders. In any event it's a contractual situation they have little control over. The best they can realistically do is compensate themselves with £50-£60 million from a rival club.

I doubt they're going to pander to a few nut-jobs given the figures involved.

Anybody who thinks a big transfer at Arsenal will be "done at board level" is so clueless about how the club operates that anything they say on this topic can be safely disregarded.

Harsh but true, sorry.

You think the Arsenal board don't have a huge say in things like this? They do in every football club. Silly to think otherwise. Who do you think is running the show then, out of interest?

A board of directors (B of D) is a group of individuals that are elected as, or elected to act as, representatives of the stockholders to establish corporate management related policies and to make decisions on major company issues.

As if Wenger gets that much say over the board. I'm sure it will go down well.

'My feud with Jose will mean you get 10m less. I hope you're all okay with that.'

Arse board: of cos, why wouldn't we be?
