Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Martial, Ibra, Mkhitaryan and Sanchez to rotate for three positions is not that bad. Especially with Ibta having (likely) just an another season.

Lingard, Rashford and Mata.

And Ibra and Sanchez aren't the 'rotating' type, and neither is Micky. They are big name players in their prime with enormous wage so they aren't going to be happy on the bench.

I think Ibra may stay for longer than 2 years (inc. this one), and if/when he goes Mourinho will bring another striker in. He's never ever gambled on starting a season without a reliable frontman (and you can even argue the one time he didn't have one, 13/14, it cost him the league, Chelsea was drawing heaps from a very favourable position).

If we must get an elite attacker in, go for Griezmann. He can be Rooney's replacement with Mata as back up for both center/right wing or sold and Rashford/Martial sharing game time on the left wing and as back up to Zlatan.

People seriously suggest we should send Rashford and Martial on loan just for a slim chance of Sanchez being here. Even though our kids had their best games of the season just few days ago :wenger:.

Football fans, never fecking happy. What's next ? We sell De Gea because Cech won golden gloves award last season ?

Yep, Rashford and Mata too, which makes 6 players for three positions (from them 2 players being still quite young, 1 being quite old, and 3 in their primes). A perfect number IMO. Lingard can be seventh choice or whatever, who cares. In addition, Mata might decide to leave because he is not (and neither will be) a starter.

Ibra will be 36 next season, he will have to rotate. I think it will be a good number. Madrid have Ronaldo (Sanchez), Bale (Mhiky), Benzema (Ibra), Rodriguez (Mata), Moratta (Martial) and Vasquez (Rashford). It could be argued that each position is as strong or stronger than ours and they are doing well. We should aim to go to that level, and to have substitutions which are as good as the starting players.

Rodriguez is basically one foot out of the door. Moratta isn't a 21 year old kid who needs game time to develop and getting his place in the NT team for WC18.

If Mata isn't content with his role right now, we'll have to sell him and getting a player who is guaranteed to get 45+ games on the left isn't a great way to let Martial know that we value him, unless Ibra really take a back seat next season and Jose trusts him to develop as our future man upfront.

And that's without taking into account Rashford, who will make this place riot if he leaves for game time.

I think he is tired of playing in Arsenal right now. He knows that Arsenal are not getting near the trophy within the next few years and that doesn't match his ambitions.

He could be the type of player that pushes us closer to be a contender in the champions league during these years, and that is what he wants. He could also fill a role as a striker. But yes, I wish there was a way of not hindering Martials development. I would consider loaning him out for a season considering that he is still very young, Zlatan would have retired where Sanchez could move in as a permanent striker. The question is if Martial would react well at being loaned out.

Comment of the week, right here.:lol::lol:

This is pretty much a no brainer, especially if Arse don't make top 4. If he goes to City, they will win all kinds of trophies.

I think Sanchez is leaving Arsenal regardless of them making top 4 or not.

He's an absolute world class player that is completely wasted there, he knows them making top 4 is pointless because they'll never win the Champions League or the Premiership again as long as Wenger is manager.

I can't see him coming here though sadly.

He's at the age where he could go to China for a massive paycheck - and I do mean massive.

I think Chelsea will sign Alexis and us Griezmann.

Arsenal fans are going to be livid this summer.

Don't see it. He seems the type that wants to win things - my guess is Bayern Munich

If the money they're getting in China is legit then there's a chance he'll go there. Even if it only lasts a season it might be more than he's earned in his whole career.

I have my doubt as to Bayern matching his wage demands. He's on 140k now and could easily get 300, which is a bit over their current wage structure. Few clubs can offer that much and Arsenal isn't one of them.

If Arsenal's board are stupid enough to not give him 250k a week and let him go instead, they deserve to have their fans run riot and for the club to go under.

He's exactly the sort of player I think we need in the attack, actually. He's quick, tricky, scores goals and can play all across the front.

Ibrahimovic, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Rashford and Mata are great. But the attack needs something else. Sanchez, in an ideal world, would be it. Arsenal will surely look to sort things out, though. They might as well just pack it in if not.

Ibra Mata Mkhi Rashford Martial Sanchez as 6 options for our front line would work if we employed a 4-2-3-1 next season.

In a 4-3-3 i don't see us keeping all players happy.

I can see him going to Real Madrid tbh. Bayern probably wouldn't pay what is required, neither would Juve. He wouldn't get to PSG and france, and probably not another english side, which leaves Barca where he was already at before, and then Real Madrid. Feel like he'd be class there as well and work well with Ronaldo/Bale and their midfield.

I doubt Arsenal can replace him with the same quality. They absolutely have to pay up his wages, don't they have the money? I thought they were loaded.

He showing signs of Suarez when he got fed up at Liverpool blowing their big opportunities, I think he's gone personally

(Won't be to a PL side though, not sure what makes anyone think Jose will be after him)

I actually think we can get away with a midfield 2 of Pogba and a natural DM (Jorginho?) if we play Alexis at 10. The man has the workrate to cover every blade of grass in the field so he'll basically adapt the Oscar role (defensively adept 10) during Mou's second Chelsea stint. We can afford to rest him for the cup games too so there won't be any issue of over fatiguing him.

Just a matter of Arsene resigning. If Arsene goes this summer, Alexis is ours IMO.

------ Zlatan
Martial Alexis Mkhi
--- Pogba Jorginho

Then any combo of
---- Zlatan/Rashford
Martial/Alexis/Mata/Mkhi/Lingard for the three behind

Mouth watering.

The money in China isn't going anywhere. He can go there when he's a bit past it and cash in huge then. In the meantime he won't be making pennies plying his trade for one of the major clubs in Europe, will he?

Would love it for the drama.

Where would he play at Real? And why wouldn't Juve pay the money? They spent how much on Higuain? Sanchez won't cost the earth with only a year left on his contract either

I actually see him at City, Bayern or PSG. City because they always like to buy Arsenal players that want to leave and they need quality forwards, Bayern have some aging wingers and Carlo would like him and PSG being PSG and loving some star players after Zlatan leaving.

Yeah they spent a ton on Higuain but can they afford those every year? Plus with his huge wages. Don't see it personally.
Also he walks into the madrid team. Like I said, either up top or on the left wing, rotating throughout the game with Ronaldo, and then since Bale is injured for half of every season, he can also play on the right.

Always wanted Alexis. I am sure we can fit in him somehow.

Zlatan, Mkhi, Martial, Rashford, Alexis, Mata for three spots.

Me too, he's a United player. He should be wearing our number 7 shirt.

How about a 3-4-3?

Something like this...

--------------------DDG----------------
----Bailly---------Jones-------Rojo----
Val------Carrick------Herrera------Pog
Mkhi------------ -Zlatan--------Sanchez

He should really - a man of his talents in the prime of his career should either be at a club properly competing for (and winning) the biggest trophies in the game, or should be getting paid ludicrous money for his sacrificing those trophies at a lesser club. If Arsenal won't pay him that ludicrous money, then someone else will I'm sure.

That said, I still think Arsenal will call his bluff and he'll settle for only a bit more money with them.

I would absolutely love him here firstly because he's a brilliant player and secondly because of the absolute hysteria it would cause at Arsenal.

But I'm not sure those are good enough reasons. I've no idea how we'd fit him into the side and as we've seen with players like Veron, Di Maria and to a lesser extent Berbatov, just buying cracking players without a clue where they'll fit in doesn't work.

He can play on either wing quite easily. I think he would fit us perfectly, runs around with and without the ball while contributing offensively excellently. He doesnt need to adapt, the system we have, he would fit right in. The more pressing issue would be who would lose out or who will he hinder? In our current formation, we have Mkhi/Rashford/Martial/Lingard/Mata/Depay playing on the wing. You see what i mean. But no doubt would someone like Sanchez bring much more quality to our team, but at the expense of other popular players, even if the majority are not as good.

I think he will defo leave but sadly I see him heading to Bayern or PSG. If ever Woodward wanted to prove his worth, this would be the perfect chance. We need CL football back!

He would adapt but would he be at his best? He struggled a bit at Barca, trying to shine among big talents and when I watch him for Arsenal, I sometimes see a bit of the Rooney about him in that he wants to be everywhere, coming deep to receive the ball, wanting everything to go through him. That works there because he's billy bigballs in that side but will he have that license in a team with Zlatan, Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Martial in it?

I wouldn't worry too much about him getting in the way of players because I reckon there's enough playing time to be shared around 6 players (Mkhi, Rashford, Martial, Mata, Zlatan and himself) in 3 positions. If Rooney, Memphis and Lingard were to move on, or were to see less gametime, I wouldn't lose too much sleep.

Not having a go at you, and definitely not trying to derail the thread, but I do hope the #7 is given to someone who's earned it rather than a new signing. From our team right now, I'd say Herrera, Mata or depending on how well he does til the end of the year, Mkhi, are good candidates.
