Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Quality player, so much so when Ronaldo left I suggested we sign him as a replacement (in the Mods forum). We should have done this, especially since Michael twatting Owen wore 7 the next season which was borderline unforgivable.

Apparently he was furious at full-time. Presumably because of Giroud's gombeenery after he scored. Was also having a running verbal battle with Ramsey in the first half. Looks like he's not enjoying Arsenal being Arsenal. Quite funny the way Wenger is using tiredness as an excuse when his team played all their best stuff in the last 20 minutes. Sanchez must surely be able to see through that crap.

We should just try unsettle him. Get in contact with his agent, say we will offer 300k (or replace Rooney for him). Whatever.

It might make him think and the worst thing is that Arsenal are forced to give him money they dont want him to get, which will probably result in Ozil wanting the same.
Or he doesnt get it and sits out his contract but is unsettled.
Alternatively, he ends up leaving and it causes an issue where Ozil wants to leave, or players dont want to join as best players are leaving.

Obviously easier said than done. But best case scenario we get him (of course if thats what Jose wants). Would love him at United. His mentality is so un-Arsenal like right now.

Fantastic player, I don't know what the feck was he thinking when he signed for Arsenal. He's pretty much the opposite of the standard Arsenal player.

Yeah, I really enjoyed when he told Ramsey to feck off.

His style of play is extremely gritty, tenacious, and always at top gear, so it's unsurprising to see him have a personality that replicates that. I couldn't believe Giroud's celebration either. Absolutely ridiculous.

I'm sure Wenger didn't want to sell us RVP. At the end of the day it's down to the player. I'm certain he'll leave Arsenal and I'm sure we will be interested but so will many other clubs. I will not be surprised if we do sign him actually. We are quite dominant in the transfer world now, especially with Woody the muppet and Jose.

His contract runs to 2018? He looked feed up tonight.

Do not want. Develop Martial (who needs a year max under Mourinho to become a top player), maybe Rashford, and we also have a star entering his prime in Mkhitaryan.

Not happening not wAnting.

RVP?
Sagna?
Clichy?

Okay the last two aren't exactly of the stature of Robin or of Sanchez but still, they're a selling club and if a competitor comes in with the right offer, they'll sell.

Nasri too don't forget, was a pretty big player for Arsenal.

I think he is tired of playing in Arsenal right now. He knows that Arsenal are not getting near the trophy within the next few years and that doesn't match his ambitions.

He could be the type of player that pushes us closer to be a contender in the champions league during these years, and that is what he wants. He could also fill a role as a striker. But yes, I wish there was a way of not hindering Martials development. I would consider loaning him out for a season considering that he is still very young, Zlatan would have retired where Sanchez could move in as a permanent striker. The question is if Martial would react well at being loaned out.

There was an article that Arsenal have a decision on who to keep out of Sanchez and Ozil because they cannot afford to pay both. I think Sanchez might make their mind up for them.

I would be shocked if Arsenal sold us their best player again.

And then you consider that Mourinho is the United manager?

This is a pipe-dream.

Maybe I am the only one but I would prefer Griezmann.

Wenger would rather sell to City rather than us. I'm sure Pep would be interested in signing Alexis again.

I'd love it if we signed him but I can understand those that have some concerns regarding the progression of Martial, Mkhi and (hopefully) Rashford.

I may be alone in thinking this but I'd love it if we signed him to play as a CM. I think he has everything in his locker needed to be a good CM - he's an excellent playmaker, he's a goal threat, he works his bottom socks off, he's a smart player and is already very versatile. I mean, it's not unheard of with wide players transitioning into centre midfielders. Off the top of my head there's Iniesta, Schweinsteiger, Giggs, Lahm(Fb, but still), Beckham, Isco, Nasri and dí Maria. I don't know about including Modric in such list because he was initially a centre midfielder/#10, but, at Spurs, he did go from a LM to a CM after adjusting to the league.

I'm not positive he'd excel there, but I'd love to see him try that role. A front three of Zlatan, Mkhi and Martial, with Pogba and Alexis as our two advanced midfielders in front of a sitting Carrick/Herrera would be a sight.

I don't think he'd be a great CM because he's incredibly forward thinking, his instinct is always to drive/pass forward/shoot plus he'd probably be a positional nightmare. You'd also nullify his greatest assets.

You're probably right but I do think he's a smart enough player to adjust so I think there could be a chance he'd do well there. I thought the same regarding dí Maria when he was being used as a CM under Ancelotti but he surprised me and played his best season there.

This guy is a Mourinho player in character and drive on the pitch. If there's a chance Mourinho can get him, I think we'll be all over this.

Arsenal are more interested in profit margins than success, so, at the right fee, they'll deal.

Wenger has half a foot out the door, and if they don't even make top 4 this season, he's more likely to leave than stay, anyway, so I wonder if their board will care about his rivalry with Mourinho or remonstrations with £60m+ being waved in their greedy faces.

i'm a huge fan, he's the best player in the league imo would love to have him here
won't ever happen though, not in a million years

Sure you could play him there, you could play Zlatan there also. The question is why would you?

The game is about scoring goals, his best quality is scoring and assisting. Play him as close to goal as possible.

Any of the front three positions really

I have the same doubts as I do about Griezmann in terms of having to switch formations to accommodate him. But with his ability, I'd love to see him play as a #10 behind Zlatan. Martial wide left, Mkhitaryan wide right and him central could be a stunning team to watch on the break. Obviously that leads to the problem of Pogba playing deeper, and even though Sanchez works his socks off, to get Pogba to play with the kind of freedom he has now would probably need a Roy Keane type one man midfield, which Herrera isn't quite. Though if it worked, Sanchez would also allow us to rest Ibrahimovic without losing goal scoring threat. But Wenger will never sell his best player to Mourinho so doesn't matter really.

Hope he leaves the Prem because there's no hope we sign him with Mourinho in charge. Only club I see him going to in the Prem is City.

Shame because he would be perfect for us.

I'd rather he stays at Arsenal. The league is great this year and on their day Ozil and Sanchez are a pleasure to watch. It's better for the EPL if the best players aren't buggering off to Spain or Bayern.

Why would Sanchez go back to play under Pep?

And if he's coming to the end of his contract, then Arsenal may not have a choice but to sell to us or risk him leaving for free.
If he wants to come here that is.

For two selfish reasons. The first being I've wanted to see him in that position for a while now, and the second being to fit in all our best players into a starting 11 in this unlikely scenario. I think he'd be as effective there for us as he is on the left for Arsenal. I know this wouldn't be to many peoples taste; it's just my personal preference. I love watching him come deep to dictate games and just generally playmake.

Why someone would choose Antoine instead of Alexis? I'm not a big fan of the chilean, but seriously, why?

Antoine is a better player, but Alexis would suit us better as he's a lot more versatile.

Maybe we should help Arsenal and Sanchez in resolving this apparently difficult issue between them by informing the player's representatives of the type of wages we would be willing to offer to such a player if were at our club?

That might help clarify matters between them regarding wage expectations and lead to them to a resolution? Anything we can do to help

Think they're about the same level.

Antoine is more of a goal threat and is the catalyst for his team which are renowned for being pragmatic, whereas Sanchez while not offering as much of a goal threat works his socks off and is much better on the ball in comparison to Antoine who is better off it.

They're both quite close but I guess it depends on your preference of player. Both would be immense for us, mind.

I do get that part too. I want him to stay there as long as they stay at the same level. With him and a couple more pieces they could actually be a threat.
