Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

I'd pay £60-£70m. Even in the Chile v Germany game tonight you can just see he's got everything. If another PL side snaps him up I think they become title favourites, it's a shame Arsenal can't offer him the rest of the talent around him (thankfully). You won't get a player of similar quality for £60m elsewhere.
Agreed

We should be in for Sanchez, him alone can solve majority of our problems in attacks.
He can play as a winger and striker in top level.
He can score goals & create chances (If I am not mistaken he had the most through ball in PL last season).
He can take set pieces or corner kicks.
He's an ideal replacement for missing Griezmann.
and him with 1 year left in his contract is still worthy more than Morata and Perisic combined.

Sanchez moves to City means too much, their attackers will be equal to the likes Bayern. Jesus, Aguero, Sanchez, Benardo Silva, KDB and even Silva.

Out of all transfer rumors, this is definitely the one I want to see happen. Sanchez is the player that will solve our goal drought and will be an immense talent to have for players like martial and rashford. His attitude is also of a player that wants to win at all cost. I just hope jose starts a coup to get him from arsene which of course would be the most foolish thing to do by arsene.

I've said it before, but i would be happy if we threw 80m at Arsenal to try and get this guy.

It's so difficult to get this level of player in the transfer market, so even if he has only 1 year left on his contract, i still think he is worth it.

Would be a very good signing personally I'd like Dembele but Sanchez would be great option instead as he's the finished article.

Yup. He's a game changer and always gives it his all. Would easily get 20 goals in all competitions.

Guy at work has a son that works in City's media department. Reckons Sanchez and Alves are done deals. Probably full of shit.
Sanchez deal is done in a similar way to Morata to United is.
Sanchez wants City and settled personal terms.
He has agreed to let them negotiate with Arsenal to agree a fee but this won't be easy and will require much patience .
Arsenal have to be allowed to come out of this process looking like they've got a good deal. They need to source a replacement that most of their fans rate as being of a similar calibre to Sanchez so it looks as if an unhappy late 20's star man in the last year of his deal is being swapped for a younger man at a lower cost with a good few years to give to the team.

Alves, I think, has an agreement with City and Juve are willing to give him his release. He's now on holiday and will formalise the deal in a couple of weeks.

Not sure Sanchez is the ideal foil for Pep's attack but not a lot of great options out there - they will still lack a forward who can play with their back to goal. Probably means Kun will stay too

This is the problem with Mourinho, he wants a more defensive winger, when the entire problem in why we finished 6th is our lack of ability to slice teams to shreds. He's keeping fellaini, lingard, rooney and young could still be here, carrick should be replaced, even though he offers more than the others ever could. But we got passengers, and who are we linked with? Ivan perisic, when a sanchez is what we need to give us that cutting edge from the wings. The transfer fee involved with perisic, when sanchez could be cheaper and is a better player in what we need badly

Hopefully this talk of Arsenal signing Lacazette means Alexis will be more likely to move. Surely Lacazette will be ~£50m so a cheeky £75m from Woodward might get the Arsenal board's heads turning...

Still think he'll be moving abroad but by God we should at least be in for him

Looks like we're after Perisic for the left side of the attack. Sanchez doesn't appear to be a target.

There is absolutely no way we wouldn't have gone for Sanchez if he was willing to join us, add the fact that Wenger never would sell to us\Mourinho and it would take Sanchez downing tools to join us specifically for this to happen.

He probably views Citeh as more of a silverware guarantee in the short term (2-3 years), and to be fair they are further ahead at the moment than us, besides the bald twat managing them has quite a pull amongst latin players.

Bayern might also be an option, but not sure if he fancies the BL, it doesn't hold the same appeal as the PL for a lot of players.

Some of you won't quit. He'll be at City or Bayern by September.

How much silverware did City win last season then? And how far ahead of us did they finish?

And didn't Guardiola sell Sanchez at Barca?

Think we are seen amongst most to be in more of a transitional period than City.

Would you realistically have us ahead of them as favourites for the PL next season?

Don't think they parted on bad terms though, breaking into that Barca team was borderline impossible and perhaps he wasn't exactly ideal for their league or possession based system, Baldie's Citeh is more about quick transition and relentless pressure and he'll fit right in.

One of the single most idiotic posts I've seen this transfer window...

Either that or the moment when an oppo WUM's mask slips.

But, yeah, you might recall multiple trophies won by us last season... and 0 won by City.

Sanchez won a trophy with us last season too, yet he still wants out. He wants to win the league, not the league cup. There's more chance of that at City, don't delude yourself.

How is that deluding ourselves? We gave up on the league to win the Europa League. Before that we were within a couple of points off City. The year before one single point separated the two clubs. If its all about winning the league, he should be clamouring to join Chelsea instead, or Bayern/Juve. City isn't above any of the other top 6 clubs when it comes to winning the league.

Let's see how our transfer window goes, but honestly yes, I would put us on par with City for the league title next year. A big part of that is our manager. He knows how it's done.

I agree that he'd fit in Pep's Coty better than Pep's Barca. But I'd be interested to know if Sanchez wants to work with Pep again. He probably will, but I'd hazard he'd be slightly more reluctant than if he'd never worked with him before. That'd be only natural to a manager who didn't want you last time he was with you.

History doesn't dictate the future in football, otherwise no top player would ever join a side that didn't just win the league. I'd say with the names being linked, City are a fair bet to challenge next year. Especially if Sanchez joined - you could argue neither Arsenal or United have been close to winning the league for ages, so he'd be silly to be at either, but football doesn't work like that.

Does anyone think Wenger would prefer to sell to us rather than be bullied by City & Chelsea?

I know they'd prefer to sell to Bayern but maybe the English clubs will offer a bigger contract. Sanchez might threaten to sit out his contract.

I don't care where he goes and how well he does. I'm just disputing the notion of the post quoted that at this moment City has more chance of winning the league than us. They have been no closer to the prize last 3 seasons and won feck all last season to boot. Sanchez might feel that he has more chance there working with Pep but that's more about his own opinion rather than any empirical fact.

Arsenal would be absolutely stupid to sell Sanchez to us, Chelsea or City. If I was AW, id ensure he goes to Bayern,PSG or Juve.
We need to bid 80m for Dembele from BVB and thats the RW/RF sorted.

I find it hard to believe we wouldn't be in for him. I imagine we've had word that he's not interested in joining us, or that Wenger flat out won't sell to Mourinho at any cost. At least that would be preferable than the club not being interested in one of the best players on the market.

We'll never know either way and the result will be the same anyway.

Use the Morata money and buy this guy. Its a no brainer.

He will get you more goals, create more chances, will sell more shirts, will weaken a direct rival and will probably cost less too. He is a natural winner and we should be all over him.

With the money we spent on Pogba, and are seemingly willing to spend on Morata, I'd go all out for Sanchez.

It's the fact of not only getting him, but getting him from Arsenal and stopping City from getting him.

If we bid 100m Arse would have to consider it, and it'd let the player know how much we value/want him.

We have enough money to buy both and even more. Besides if we are buying him, then we are buying him as a 7, not a 9.

Arsenal sold us once their best player and it gave us the title, they won't do the same thing twice I think.

Arsenal need to grow a pair and sell him abroad.

Or to us, that's fine too. :p

That is a really hard ask. We can count with 2 hands the number of players of similar caliber. And if such a player became available, the other teams will be all over him and Arsenal won't stand a chance. Maybe a player who is a few levels below him but with enormous potential is what Arsenal should be aiming for. This is going to be a really tough window for all clubs especially Arsenal since they are out of top 4 and can't match the other teams in wages and fees.

Yeah, we are much further off than we were in 2012. Man City are quite a bit ahead of us.

We were a lot closer in 2012 than we are in 2017. Signing Arsenal's best player is less likely to push us over the edge this time.

No, you are also missing the point that a fixed midfeild and even better defense and a mobile focal point who streches defense will also get Martial MKH Rashford mata and pogba firing on all cylinders. Also a Winger will add another dimentions to attack tactically.
