Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

I highly doubt Jose wouldn't want a player like Sanchez. He turned us down in the past under Fergie. He must have a good relationship with Pep. Let's face it, why the feck would any player choose City over us? Shame if he goes to them because he will improve City but again city need to sort out there defense.

1 Mourinho's past should never haunt mourinho's present. He is now a united manager and united have always had good relations with arsenal atleast and respect wenger. Why should mourinho's baggage be loaded on to united.

2 Rvp precedent makes no sense now he is gone and we sold them welbeck one our our own local boy, which they could not capitalize on themselves. And sanchez could be the next one anywhere he goes

3 It applies to others as well.

4 Table changes every year, Dont think with this mentality they are helping themselves one bit.
What does sand taste like?

Because it's 2017 and he might think he has a better chance of winning trophies there. Outlandish thought, I know...
I still see him going to Bayern or Juve, btw.

Where do all these attacking players fit for Manchester City, if he does sign for them, how can Pep keep them all happy?

Sane, Jesus, Aguero, Sterling, Silva, B Silva, De Bruyne & potentially Sanchez.

It's an amazing problem to have but it's going to be difficult to for Pep to keep them all happy.

Don't think they care at all about players happiness over peps who's stake is on the line.

So Wenger went on tv saying sanchez stays, but picks up phone to pep straight after and sells him???. ROFL

Sanchez 2 days ago says he will have a meeting with arsenal after chile duty, but yet hes already signed for city? pmsl

Wenger was adamant he stays, that was a week or so ago, maybe 2? behave city fans ffs
The Chilean guys, yep same ones who reckoned Vidal had signed, are wrong. Gerard Romero is wrong. Sorry bluemoon plebs as no doubt you're here lingering. He'll stay or go bayern. No way he can sell him to a rival this summer. zilch. nada. zero.

I feel sorry for them believing everything they read, have a day off, itll do you well. (and save the sanchez disappointment)

Not happening.

Would be much better if he have their best player unmotivated for a year and then goes to a rival for free in 12 months?

think the player and club would compromise. abroad or nowhere. and he'll go abroad
Why would Sanchez compromise out of interest? He holds all the cards. Without him next season Arsenal will face an uphill battle to get into top 4(assuming they don't get a replacement). And on top of that he'll run down his contract and they will receive nothing.

If he goes to City or United most likely he'll have 300k per week or something. He won't get that money abroad in his last contract as a footballer at his peak.

fair points. reckon he'd be psg or bayern's marquee signing. He'd get 250 minimum at either

PSG seems to be after James and/or Auba. Don't see them signing 3 attackers this Summer. Bayern seems fair destination, but isn't their highest paid player on 160/170k per week or something? Can't see them offering nearly double that to Sanchez.

No, you're wrong. Bayern's highest earners are on €16m p.a. which is a bit above €300k weekly.

Pep factor. I initially misread your post, so apologies about that. But in any case I would say that City and United are fairly equal propositions at this point where a player doesn't have any particular affinity towards either. Sanchez has a good relationship with Pep, and Wenger doesn't like Mourinho so I'm sure he'd rather sell to City if it came down to the two of us.

I do think we should chance our arm though.

City ITK's drop info about Silva medical, claim Fabinho is next. All of a sudden, two City ITK's say Fabinho won't join City and one claims MUFC will sign Fabinho. Then we also get a Chilean journo saying City want alexis. Please don't tell me they are about to drop Mbappe-level money on sanchez to force wenger to backtrack from his promise.

And remember Alexis was at Barcelona during all the eye-poking nastiness. I'm sure he could put the past aside but it's not going to be a positive factor. Plus there's the question of how he sees himself fitting into the manager's style.

Or maybe he'll stay and go to Bayern in a year, if he isn't sold to Bayern now.

Of course there's always the threat of being demotivated but I don't think Alexis is ever demotivated. Put a ball in front of him and he's a Duracell bunny.

Or maybe he'll just stay.

Outbid anyone else by £20m and get him here. We are the richest club in the world, let's make it count and flex some muscle. We had £80m set aside for Griezmann, so use that pot for Sanchez. Please!

I'd rather see him stay at Arsenal than going to any of the top PL clubs. They are unlikely to be a serious threat even with him imo, and being on his last year and his likely attitude would not be pleasant if they start falling behind.

Probably a good deal for you, but also a great price for Arsenal, considering he is on the last year of his contract. Not sure if it would happen though unless Sanchez himself push for it since Arsenal would prefer to sell abroad, also, not sure why Sanchez would push for United, he doesn't strike me as someone solely motivated by money.

I agree. Hope he stays if he doesnt go to PSG or Bayern. City or Chelsea worst case scenario

For all his sulking and petulance looks like he may well stay at Arsenal. Pretty massive that for the gunners. By far their best player.

A good price for Arsenal but it all depends if they would spend the money or put it into the bank/owners pockets. Obviously they will sign someone to replace Sanchez, but it's a big void to fill, and all clubs are targeting new attackers so they might find that the £80m doesn't go that far.
I'm not sure if Sanchez would push for a move to United, but if he's open to the option of signing for City and living in Manchester, then United need to throw a big hat into the ring. He would be amazing on United's LW.

...................De Gea
Valencia .. Bailly .. Lindelof .. Shaw
..................Fabinho
............Herrera ... Pogba
Mkhitaryan .... Morata .... Sanchez

Would be a great deal for us as we need a goalscoring wide forward.

60m should be enough considering he's in his last year of the contract and doesn't want to stay there. We can't get a better deal than that really.

Outbid City and give him the 250/300k he wants.

I actually think that from Sanchez's point of view, there's not much difference between ourselves and Arsenal and it would be more a sidestep for him. Obviously as United fans we are going to be thinking Sanchez coming here could be the key to winning the title, but it all depends on what his own personal view is. Many neutrals have said that we've been largely unimpressive that season so it's not hard to see why he might adopt that viewpoint. Of course that would be where Jose has to do his job in order to convince Sanchez that his future lies here.

As for the past, I personally think Wenger and Mourinho's relationship is more of a stumbling block than Sanchez and Mourinho. The signs are that Sanchez has a very good relationship with Pep, but I don't think he'd be adverse to working with Jose. Was Pedro at Barca during that time? I can't recall but I know he came to play for Mourinho.

Realistically speaking, if he prefers to stay in England then Sanchez will go to City because of the Pep factor. The meltdown from Arsenal fans will be huge regardless, but a lot of bigger if he joins United who are bigger rivals. I just think that it's worth having a pop. It's not like they're going to retaliate and poach one of our players! At worst we just get an instant rejection of our bid.

can anyone give me a genuine reason why he'd want to come here?

Since sanchez joined us, you have been worse than us every season and even finished behind us again this season. It took you winning the europa league to qualify for CL which is only something that has been ongoing for 2 years now as well. Under the old rules, you would have been in the same position as us with no CL.

Of course its worth pointing out that we only missed CL by a point so its not like we are massively behind the lot above us. Also, think liverpool will fall behind again next season, all their targets don't seem to be materialising already, still early days though.

From our point of view, selling abroad is only viable solution if we must and with psg giving up on him and bayern signing gnabry, I think sanchez will stay and depending on our summer business and how we play up until january, he may even re-sign or leave for free.

We are not in that bad of a position financially that we need to sell him now either and it would be difficult to replace 30 goals and 15 assists or whatever it was, even with 60 mill or so to spend. The market out there for attackers is not that great and considering where we finished, I'm sure the last thing wenger wants is to further weaken us.

I'm a City fan and even I'd join United over Arsenal. It's nothing results based, purely that as a club overall you seem to lack ambition. Never once in recent years have I looked at an Arsenal window and thought Wow, they're really looking to make a push for the title next year. United haven't got it right for a few years now, but they'll flex their muscles far more than Arsenal to fix it.

On a serious note most of us don't think that he would come here, but we're allowed to dream.

It should also depend on what sanchez wants and what project arsenal would be heading towards with Wenger staying. Not only about the money, though it will be a factor too.

Recent Past does not matter much, the current project does matter, if arsenal would want sanchez to stay then the money won't be the sole factor but also of who would arsenal bring in and boost the team to compete for the title, while he is also 28 so it might be his last big decision in his career if he has to dream bigger on all fronts specially the ucl.

Bayern certainly is a top option for him and arsenal to sell for the fans which would hurt the least but who knows what sanchez wants? If he wants to keep playing in the epl and compete for all trophies and also get good money the decision also is in sanchez hands given his contact situation.

So we must take our chances and show an interest even if there is a slight chance only.

If arsenal is good enough to compete or not is left for arsenal fans, Wenger and Sanchez to judge, but we can give him assurance too that our project is also good enough at all levels.

I'd pay £60-£70m. Even in the Chile v Germany game tonight you can just see he's got everything. If another PL side snaps him up I think they become title favourites, it's a shame Arsenal can't offer him the rest of the talent around him (thankfully). You won't get a player of similar quality for £60m elsewhere.

Guy at work has a son that works in City's media department. Reckons Sanchez and Alves are done deals. Probably full of shit.
