Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

We should be going crazy to make this transfer happen. It might not but we should be doing everything we can to try.
  1. He's a world class wide player
  2. He's got a champions attitude and fight
  3. He's proven in the premier league
  4. He scores goals for fun from midfield
  5. He's got 1 year left on his contract
  6. We can easily afford to pay him whatever he wants
He's perfect for us, a safer option than Bale/Griezmann etc, we should be throwing money hand over fist at Arsenal.

This situation reminds me of when Arsenal bid £40 million + 1 for Suarez. If they'd thrown an extra £10-15 million at Liverpool they could have had Suarez leading the line instead of Welbeck and Giroud and could have had Sanchez and Ozil behind him. They would easily have been league champions at least once.

Seems like this one is done and dusted though, remember that Pep was the one who brought him to Barcelona.

But that shouldn't stop us from trying. We should just make a huge bid and see where it goes. We have money, we have CL, we have won two trophies. If he doesn't choose us or Arsenal straight out refuse then fine. But it's our duty to atleast put in a bid.
I made this point re Harry Kane and got backlashed. I agree, Sanchez is another game changer, proven scorer and proven PL player. These are the type of players we should target even if we're ultimately unsuccessful. We did it with vanPersie and that reaped dividends. Instead everyone seems to clamour over cast offs from abroad that have never played in this league.

I agree that United have a duty to target this type of player. SAF used to do it and it often worked for the best.

Atleast put in a bid, a decent one. Even a rejection wont be bad, Atleast we could say we tried. If he goes to another epl club than i'd be pretty p****d. Bayern move makes sense, Or arsenal pull the rabit out of the hat and make him stay would be ideal for them.

If the little boy in his heart screams united or not is at least worth trying.

Sanchez would be perfect for us to get on the left alongside an actual striker. What we need is 2 goalscorers to bring into our starting 11 and there arent many on sanchez's level. City dont need him at all, though they would have a terrifying attack if they got him. Would be giving up on some of their younger players though.

How is Sanchez going to be happy at City? They seem to be trying to get two top quality players at every position and plan to rotate them, especially in attack. Ever notice Sanchez's body language when he is substituted ? The ma wants to play ever minute of every game, he plays through Injury all the time. I can't see him being happy rotating with anybody.

Probably the best realistically available attacker on the market. Not sure Arsenal would be willing to sell to us whatever we offer though.

We are still only an Aguero injury from having to rely on a 19 year old mind you.

Oh so you only want young players to be given a chance if they're world class. Talk about being plastic.
Well if they weren't any good and we didn't win anything then you'd still be giving the academy stick.. The same way Rashford reflects well on Uniteds youth, but Lingard is pretty irrelevant.

Hey, he played key parts in our Community Shield, FA Cup & League Cup victories!

The one player that is even the tiniest bit realistic that would make this summer as success.

Wouldn't he then compete with Silva, Silva, Sterling and De Bruyne? Don't get me wrong, he's a huge upgrade on Sterling, but that was a 50m signing FFS! How much talent does Pep need for 3 positions?

Sanchez can play as a CF, LW, RW, CAM. Pretty much every attacking position. I do think it'd be overkill if City got him but he'd play plenty.

There's also a chance one player will leave if they'd sign him. Money is a huge factor but if you have the talent those players have and the ego, I don't think it's very unlikely one would leave. It's just impossible to tell a superstar they need to share the time on the pitch.

Signing a player like Sanchez will also mean less time on the ball for players on the pitch. Sanchez will demand at least 4-5 minutes of time on the ball, which is a whole lot. That will most likely reduce the time for a player like De Bruyne. A team will have a certain amount of possession no matter how good they are. So in total they'll use less of the talent they have. I do understand there are upsides as well.

I think Bayern would prefer to sell Costa first and Wenger would like to present a worthy successor, so it makes sense not to announce anything. IMO the deal was already done a while ago.

Yeah, just can't imagine any of those leaving. And I forgot about Jesus!

Agreed. We need two attackers now that zlatan is leaving.

Looks like we are going to get one big striker in maybe moratta or belotti now.

Another attacker should be a 20 goal player. Sanchez is a no brainer.

Reports in Chile he will go to City in the coming days. Aguero/jesus/sanchez/Sterling/Sane/Silva for 3 attacking spots? Well that is great depth, but would anyone of them not be happy if they are not in match day squad?

I don't believe those reports. Imo he is nailed on to go to Bayern. I don't see where city would put him and besides arsenal would be stupid to sell him to an EPL rival.

Never stopped arsenal selling them before? He is not nailed on to go anywhere yet. Alexis i think will want to stay in england, City will offer him more money too.

City's front line has Jesus, Aguero, sane, sterling d Silva and b Silva. Where does Sanchez fit in?

Sterling or Jesus wouldn't mind being in bench and Aguero with odd injuries that look ok.I would say why not we try getting him instead of getting Bellotti.

I'd argue we need at least 3 Strikers. So if we assume Morata comes in I'd like to see one more come in wih Rashford getting some game time. Can anyone shed any light on his injury record?

He'd never be stupid enough to go to City. If Pedro could bench him under Pep. He wouldn't fair better with the Sane's and Bernardo Silva's

Benched because messi dint like him. I think pep will want him with his aim of treble.
A bigger reason then for him to not trust Pep. Honestly if Alexis is ever to force a British isle move, it will be to Chelsea or us. Not to a Pep bossed team. I still think though Bayern and Juventus are in pole position for his signature.

Pfft, didn't you get the memo? He's signing them just because he loves to improve players and there's not enough of then at City to keep him occupied all the time.

Sanchez is nowhere near as good on the right wing, so he won't be taking Sterling's place, that's going to be B.Silva

IMO if they did try to fit them all in it would look a bit like this

Kompany/Stones/Kolarov

Walker/Gundogan/De Bruyne/Sane
Silva Jesus Sanchez

A very scary attacking line up, if they can keep the ball they could be very hard to beat. Playing hard against them and disrupting there game would be paramount.
