Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Mbappe is a far more realistic target than Sanchez. Wenger won't seel his star to Mourinho.
Not really. Mbappe will almost certainly stay at Monaco this summer whereas there's a good chance Sanchez will want out of Arsenal.

Sanchez will most probably leave but not to United. Wenger hates Jose.

RVP was a bigger legend than Sanchez and look where he ended up..

Arsenal were in a very different place back then, both financially and in terms of Wenger's standing with the supporters.

I'm the first person to criticize Wenger and the shambolic way that Arsenal are being run. There are all sorts of indefensible actions and stupid decisions Wenger could make this summer that would completely not surprise me. But anybody who has followed the club closely knows that the chances of him selling Alexis to United this summer are zero. I know its muppet season but you guys need to find a more realistic target to think about.

What else could I do other than laughing about such nonsense claims?

One of the richest clubs cannot afford his wages is nonsense and to say Bayern 'have already let it be known' is even bigger nonsense.

If Bayern seriously want a player, then the ressources are endless.

Its also funny, cos I m pretty sure Sanchez to Bayern is already done and dusted.

I don't think he'll come to United either but that's not because of Wenger. If Sanchez pushed for the move there would be very little Arsenal could do, especially when the alternative is losing him on a free next season.

Everybody has a price though and could Arsenal risk having him run out his contract and walk for free next season ?
You are probably right in that we wont get him but I wouldnt say its impossible.

Utd should test the waters and lodge a bid.

Wenger would tell him to go to Bayern or City or stay for another year at Arsenal. Sanchez would choose the first option. Why would he waste a whole year in order to join United. That's not realistic.

Nobody said that they couldn't afford his wages, oh Wise One, the question is would they pay him what he wants?
I seriously doubt it but you seem to be hinting at some insider knowledge. Time to put up?

I'm sure I read something years ago (before he went to Barcelona) that he supported us growing up.

We should throw £50-60 million at Arsenal. He'd be amazing for us.

My ideal signing this window, he has everything needed to improve us, is in his prime and would be a much better signing than Griezmann. Jose should be all over Sanchez and a centre forward this summer.

Imo, we should offer Arsenal £50m and Chris Smalling, whom Wenger has wanted for a while.

Sanchez is the one in the position of power, not Wenger. Arsenal won't want to sell to a domestic rival but the idea that Wenger would prevent a transfer going through because he dislikes a particular club or manager is just stupid.

With Greiz signing a new contract and using our name for a raise we should be going all out for this guy.

You value sanchez at 75 to 80 million? He has a year left and hes 28, he isnt worth more than 40, even that is probably abit much. Correct valuation is probably 30-35 and then for a transfer to a rival you add 5-10. Smalling is worth probably 25 being home grown english international and all. To arsenal we add 5 minimum for selling to a rival. So smalling plus 15 at a maximum, and more like smalling plus 10.

God where have you people been living? If an a kid for 40 million then sanchez is worth 80
Some 22 year old for 40 million means if you renew him when 26 and sell him at 30 means you pay basically 5 million a year minus what ever you dispose him for. For a 28 year old, with essentially zero disposal value at 32 considering his age and very high wage (may even have to pay out his contract to move him on),if at 40 million thats 10 a season basically double. Theres no way any club will pay more than that for someone with a year left. Better to just offer to pay him 15 million signing on bonus in a year.

 You can have Joel Campbell for that.

Since Lewandowski and Müller are on something like €16m p.a. there should be enough funds for Sanchez.

No. They have already let it be known that his wages are roo high for them.
I suppose they may reconsider but as it stands, no.

Bullshit. Bayern, as you may know as a United fan, isn't saying anything about transfers unless it's a done one. Just as in this case, there is no one from the club commenting this - also, we already have three players in his wage range an just spared massive money with Alonso and Lahm. What exactly is stopping us?

he's a city fan

I just don't think this is the summer Wenger sells his one-prized asset to direct rivals. He'd lose even more confidence of the fans. Now, if for whatever reason he is an option, we should do whatever we can to get him.

1) I'm a City fan as I say quite clearly. Please read.
2) I said earlier that you complete transfers quickly. Please read.
3) I did not say that you could not but I doubted that you would pay his wage. Please read.

Bayern has massive funds, no doubt, but take a pragmatic view of a player's value.
Lewa and Muller had no cost to bring them in so rather like Zlatan and Falcao at United the money goes on salaries and incidentals.

I wanted us to sign him when we signed DiMaria, but he went to Barcelona which inst strange in itself but like someone else has posted I read he was a fan of ours. Would have loved him then, not so much now, which is nothing to do with how good a player he is, was just the way he seemed to be quite petulantly frustrated with his team mates and club this season, which is a shame as he is such a hard worker on top of his talent.

As has been mentioned many times in this thread Wenger does not hold the cards to decide the fate of Sanchez.

Why? He can literally say "stay or go to Bayern, you aren't going to a Premier league club this year". Sure he can threaten to run his contract out but I wouldn't really say that hurts Arsenal since they'll have him another year anyways

He'll go abroad. Will eat my hat if he goes City, Chelsea or Utd

FWIW, i think he will stay one more yr

Agree, United don't have a chance here.

Off topic, are you a big Neil Young fan? Looking at your screen name.

I dont think Arsenal can afford a 50 million asset to just leave for free in a year

arsenal has the power until his contract officially ends.

people talking like sanchez is the one that decides need to think before they post. Unlike RVP, there are a few clubs looking at him so we can up the price as much as we want, instead of getting poverty pay of 24 mil or whatever RVP went for.

In modern transfers everyone moves for stupid money, to suggest hes only worth 40 is laughable. Was pogba worth 90?

The 1 year contract argument is invalid as most of the clubs looking at him need him now as opposed to in a years time so they will throw a load cash regardless.

If he does end up staying for a year than its fine either way. You just know he'll give 100% regardless of where he plays so he'll put up with it and then move next year.

All I'm saying is, that if Sanchez doesn't end up at Bayern it's not because of his wage demands.

I don't think Arsenal will sell him to us, but it would be stupid not to lodge a 60m bid/250k per week offer for maybe the best player in the PL. At least to cause a stir.

Why do players always use us like that

I would love Alexis, but just can't see it happening. Why would arsenal strengthen us when they could easily sell him to the likes of Bayern.
