He was available for 35 m but we went for di Maria who was dreaming of Paris even before he came here . We are to blame for our own situation.

Perhaps a mistake in the end, but it was hard to argue against signing a player of Di Maria's quality at the time.

Actually from what i heard, he wanted Cl football which we couldn't offer at that time and more importantly he wanted london which is why he rejected liverpool too.

Sanchez prefered London and wanted UCL football.

And we'd hired fecking Moyes a year before. Cant blame him for picking more stable club at time

I think he should be our #1 priority this summer, but I think it's inevitable that he'll move to Bayern, as I don't think Arsenal will sell to an English side and I think Bayern offer the certainty of trophies.
Dont think we'll see sign anyone as good as Sanchez this summer so we definitely should try to sign him. However, it's going to be very hard to get Arsenal to sell him to us. It's not like the RVP situation where we consistently winning titles and had SAF in charge. The only reason that deal happened was because the player was desparate for the move specifically to us. Sanchez isn't going to want a move to todays United in the same manner. In his time in England, he hasn't been watching us consistently win big trophies. He's watched us be bloody awful in the league and be nowhere near champions.

That happened because little boy in his heart screamed man utd.

I think it's between Chelsea and City unless United catch the others wavering.
You are late to the party and have lost ground in selling yourself to him.

You don't think Bayern have a chance?

Didn't know that. When was this?
Sources in Germany suggest that BM have an upper limit of 250k € p/w
Vidal has been suggesting that he push for the move but usually Bayern don't piss about with their signings.
In, sign, gone.

I'd say we need to try our best for him. Sanchez and Lukaku for the same money as Griezmann wouldn't be a bad outcome.

We should go all out for him. Wont cost more than £35m. We can afford the wages and he's absolutely world class.

He's a game changer. If we're not in for him it would be a terrible mistake.

Agreed 100%.
I actually preferred Sanchez, over Antoine G, if only because he is EPL proven and will make immediate impact (none of the "I need 1 year to adapt to this league" nonsense, which we may have got with AG).
We need someone who wants to score goals, above anything else and Sanchez certainly is that guy.

Under SAF, I remember when we would buy many EPL proven players, at inflated prices, simply because SAF knew that that player already does well in the EPL.
We bought A.Cole. Then D.Yorke. Then W.Rooney. All for big money. All did well at their previous clubs. All did well at our club.

Since then we have bought many non-EPL players, who tend to have "okay-ish" seasons, but nothing Earth shattering and this was always my worry with AG.

Bayern don't bend over for high wages to get a player, they are run very well in that regards. It goes without saying that City will offer more.
It's been reported that he's turned down 280k to stay at Ars so he's hardly likely to take a 50k per week drop to uproot to Germany no matter how much he likes their setup when he can stay in England for a lot more money.
This is his last big move/contract as he's now 28 and he'll do right by himself. He wants CL and £££.

You weren't in for him, if you were you'd have blown us out the water when it came to wages

If he would cost no more than £35m he surely would signed for some team already, have a word with yourself

55-65m will be the fee. Arsenal know he doesn't want to stay, there is a lot of demand, which will create a bidding war. Bayern can only be beaten if they are significantly outbid. I just hope City don't get him.

There is absolutely zero fecking chance of him coming to us this summer.. Imagine the uproar among Arsenal fans if Wenger signed this new deal to then let Sanchez go to us or City/Chelsea. Just aint happening, sorry to burst your bubbles

So where will he end up?

Would absolutely love to sign him, he's a genuine superstar. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening and it's not as if he's even been properly linked to us, anyway.

I'd conclude exactly the opposite. He rejected £280k so he's not about the money. He'll go to Bayern because he can win trophies there.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Wenger has zero controll over this situation. IF Sanchez decides to go to one of these clubs, he will force through the move. Arsenal will either do the wise thing and get paid of him or lose a player for free and pay his wages for 12 months for not playing. And STILL end up at the chosen club he was stopped from joining.

Welcome to football in the 21st century. On less you think we actually wanted to sell Ronaldo?

And it is only an IF, for all we know maybe Sanchez was only staying if Wenger was kept on. Unlikely I know but we have no way of knowing at this time.

Well the Ronaldo situation is something completely different. He openly said he wanted to leave and specifically to his dream club. Signed a deal with us in what looked like a gentemans agreement before selling him on the year later. I just cant see how Arsenal/Wenger can allow it to happen. I will go with my gut and say hes staying and will sign another deal anyway.

I'd conclude exactly the opposite. He rejected £280k so he's not about the money. He'll go to Bayern because he can win trophies there.
But he rejected it from Arsenal who are not in CL and most people would reckon have little chance of PL/CL during the time of his next contract.
BM look unlikely to match his wage demands.
That currently leaves City, Chelsea and maybe United as ideal suitors.

So then it wasn't about the money but about Arsenal not being in the CL? Bayern are in the CL, aren't they?

What are those? £280k/week was from a club that couldn't offer CL football and had to offer more money to make up for it.

This has been discussed a page back.

I don't think it's either this or that. He wants to win trophies but also get a huge salary. He also chose Arsenal over Liverpool because he wanted to stay in London. That could be a factor too. All this would make Chelsea favorites. But we should atleast give it a try instead of just watching from the sidelines.

I think Sanchez is a better signing than Griezmann personally. You could push for it but you can't help but feel it'd take silly money for Arsenal to let him stay in the PL.
