Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Isn't it possible that Sanchez is seen as a replacement for Hazard?

It's hard to see Arsenal selling to Chelsea but it's obvious Sanchez wants to go. He would've signed a new deal by now if he wanted to stay.
All the sources close to the club (including Ruud Gullit) have indicated that Chelsea have absolutely no intention of selling Hazard at any price. The intention is to play Sanchez alongside Hazard in the front 3, sending Pedro to the bench. We can challenge for the CL with that front 3 and some further upgrades and additions to the squad.

Hazard, Costa and Sanchez? That's pretty formidable as an attacking three. I can't think of many clubs that would be able to offer a better trio.

Chelsea sign Sanchez, Ozil leaves and Wenger stays. Arsenal Fan TV explodes.

I'm no Chelsea fan, but isn't it generally assumed that Costa leaves at end of the season

The Arsenal fans are on the verge of rioting as it is right now. I can't imagine they would shit on their fans twice by extending Wenger's contract and selling their best player to a hated rival in the same summer. Plus Özil's future is still undecided. There would be violent mobs outside the Emirates!

If we did by some miracle pull it off we'd piss the league again. Honestly, if any of Chelsea/City/United were able to snatch Alexis from Arsenal they'd be heavy, heavy favorites.

Wenger would rather flog him to us than Chelsea, and that is saying something since he'd never sell to us again.

Sanchez will be at Bayern next season.

He'll likely go to Serie A. Now that both Inter and Milan seem to have money to spend I wouldn't be surprised if he'd even join them.

We should be in for him. Will add a new dimension to our play and that extra bit of tenacity. From the players that we might be in for, my preference would be Griezmann>Sanchez>Mbappe

Really think he'd rather sell him to Mourinho who he utterly despises than us? Not sure about that.

Think he would have to think about the fans here. Arse to Chelsea is like United to City, not likely to happen.

Meanwhile United to Chelsea or United to Arsenal or the other way around isn't as toxic.

Not so sure about that with Jose incharge. We will be the last club that he would sell to.

Still not sure. Just the optics of Mourinho bullying Wenger into selling him his best player would be horrible from an Arsenal perspective. Can't imagine it happening.

Haven't been following but why is Douglas Costa going to leave?
He's not good enough to be first choice at Bayern. He's a very good backup for both wings but our first options are getting old and are both quite injury prone. Ribery and Robben are at a stage in their career were they should be the backup, not the first name on the team sheet.
He also made some comments recently about looking at offers in the summer, but that's probably just the usual stuff before contract talks. I don't think he's leaving but if a good replacement is comming in i'm all for it.

Never in a million years will Sanchez move from Arsenal to Chelsea.

Alexis would transform our team. Rotating between him, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Rashford and Ibra (?) for the front 3 is the ultimate muppet dream; strength in both depth and quality.

If we offer them far more than anyone else does and he pushes for the move, why not? Would Arsenal really say no if we offered 40 or 50m for a want away player in the final year of his contract? I doubt it.

Everyone can match or better your offers though. You're not in a position to simply better everyone these days financially.

Like who? Bayern don't ever spend that sort of money on a single player. PSG have several high quality attacking mids already (Di Maria, Lucas, just bought Draxler). Both Manchester clubs are loaded in his area.

Didn't mean to say we had the financial power to just outbid everyone, just that if we happen to offer them most I don't see why they wouldn't sell him to us.

I wouldn't rule Bayern out so quickly, they are extremely healthy financially and they desperately need at least one player who can take over from Ribery and Robben. If they think Sanchez is that player and that he is obtainable their previous spending won't matter, especially since lately all they've been doing is looking for bargains to round off an already very strong squad.

I'd love to see Sanchez sign for us and it should at least be explored as Martial is still developing and not yet the consistent finished article and Rashford isn't a wide attacker despite being used as such due to lack of options so signing a genuine world class player from a rival who's known to want to leave and has all the power due to being in the final year of his contract is to good an opportunity.

Having a front three of Mhkitaryan, Zlatan and Sanchez with Mata, Rashford and Martial coming in when and as needed gives us HUGE strength in depth and Sanchez can play on either wing or through the middle. He's lightening quick, a great finisher, international experience, a Champions League winner, proven in our league and at 28 is about to hit or is at his peak.

I don't think he'd cost any more than £30 million with a year on his contract and getting rid of Rooney gives us £300K a week in wages freed up which we could offer to Sanchez and hopefully blow anyone else away, Sanchez really could be a genuine game changer and if I'm honest I'd rather have Sanchez over Griezmann as it'd mean not having to change everything around just to accommodate Griezmann and also Griezmann would likely cost £50-£60 million more.

Sanchez holds all the cards, don't think the club has a lot of power in these situations.

Absolutely. Probably why he's been acting like a right twat in the past month or two - there really isn't much the club can do.

Honestly, have people who say Arsenal would never sell Sanchez to us completely forgotten about RVP? It's quite baffling.
I agree, let alone all the players they sold to city helping them become serious competition to them. If we want Sanchez and he's interested then we will get him if we have the best offer on the table.

We should go for Sanchez and if Sanchez goes to Bayern we should go for Muller. Maybe we should go for both.

Pretty much. If it was down to Wenger, not in a million years we'd get him, but it's become quite clear at Arsenal that's not the case.

There will be enough foreign suitors with the requisite financial muscle to spare Arsenal the ignominy of selling their best player to a Premier League rival.

That's the poshest post on the board this year; are you an Arsenal fan?
