Alexis Sanchez | Staying at Arsenal after City deal falls apart

Would prefer Alexis over Griezzmann all day long. Especially if he was serious about having doubts about the league.

We will not be able to sign both so no point even wasting time dreaming about that.

He's turned us down once already, and that was under SAF when we were a top side. Hard to believe he'd force a move to us when he's supposedly leaving because he wants to win the league.

Now if it's money he's after, that's another story. But I still don't see him taking a 'United only' stance like van Persie did, since that's what he would have to do, and that was down to football reasons anyway. But Arsenal won't sell him to us without it.

Mental. Griezmann was 3rd in the Balon d'Or for good reason. He's easily better than Sanchez.

Sanchez is a good player no doubts about it. But the petulance showed by him would be hated by his team mates and unless you are Ronaldo level it wont be accepted.
I think he is angling for a move, he cant go to barca, dont think he goes to any other team in england unless arsenal finish outside top 4.PSG looks like his best option.

Alexis would be a fantastic signing for PSG

If we go for him I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being another Di Maria situation.

He rejected us once before, he's clearly somewhat petulant, and it would be mostly driven by cash. If things didn't work out straight away it could all fall apart.

If Griezmann wants the move we should go all out for him.

He's clearly aggitating for a move, forcing the club into a no win situation.

I hated Ronaldo for his 2008 antics, but yet Wenger is the bad guy for some of you?

Until we start challenging for the real trophies, that's our only attraction and Alexis does seem to want more money.

what kind of antics are you talking about? Nothing wrong with a player wanting to join another club. Sanchez always worked his ass off; the same can't be said about the rest of the team.

If he was dropped as a statement, then surely he has to be dropped from the team altogether rather than to the bench.
I dont understand what dropping him to the bench and then bringing him on achieves.

It achieves to show, that you (Wenger) recognise he's your best player and while he's a little rascal at times, you're totally fecked without him and you need him more than he needs you

Ronaldo's antics were fine for you? He behaved shockingly that summer.

Sanchez - if the reports are to be believed (and surely you're not suggesting Wenger would drop his best player "for the laugh") has stormed out of training, smiled as his team conceded etc etc

But fine, he's blameless

If you are talking Ronnie..... Where do I start

Recognize his talent but would be disappointed to have him. Really genuinely dislike that type of personality.

Ronaldo was a different case. Sanchez having one training bust-up after the team capitulated in the CL again is not professional, but it is also not the end of the world. Players are just humans after all. The problem for the Gunners is, that the entire club (Wenger) lacks any ambition to win trophies. They prefer to stay in their comfort-zone and have a nice life. It is the perfect club for Özil, but a player who is showing some fight doesn't seem to fit in.
If you bench a player to make a point, you should also make sure, that you can back it up.

I know Alexis won't come to UTD and Wenger wouldn't sell him to us either, but I can't help but dream of a lineup like this:

Zlatan
Griezmann Mhki Alexis
Pogba Herrera

Oh one can dream right?

I think a lot of opposition managers would dream of us lining up like that as well. That's so unbalanced it's actually fallen over.

Not winning trophies, not sure if he'll be playing CL football next season, not sure who his boss will be, PSG apparently interested ...... it's almost like 28-year old Alexis is trying to make sure he gets one final payday move?
He probably just wants to be paid in the same bracket as players on his level. If the reports are true he's probably being paid on a par with Fellaini and Young at United, yet nearly £200k less a week than Rooney, whilst carrying Arsenal most of the season.

He's 28 so in his prime, he'd be a starter at every other PL team and would also improve them. Fair play to Arsenal for sticking to a wage structure over the years but it's starting to cost them now.

If this was the same situation in any other type of business, you wouldn't blame Sanchez for getting up and leaving to another company willing to pay him more, so he's every right to wanna leave.

A defensively porous midfield combined with a front 4 that largely don't track back. Sanchez works hard but there's no saving that line up when it comes to defending without the ball.

That only works if the players track back and work their a**es of.
Example Bayern:
Lewandowski
Ribéry Müller Robben
Vidal Thiago

Whp is better on both flanks? Alexis is better than Griezmann right?

I don't see Griezmann playing as a striker here - can't remember a time Jose played with a striker under 6ft something - so it has to be who the better winger is.

He's not "easily" better that's absolute nonsense.

Agree completely. Also people forget Griezmann was in a high profile tournament with France last year, being their talisman and helping them to the final. Unfortunately for Sanchez, Chile is no France.

I think Sanchez has better individual quality actually, though Griezmann seems to be the better team player.

Eto'o?

Griezmann is a better player than Sanchez, that is not an opinion, it is a fact. I don't even think that it is particularly close.

However, changing the league can be a big problem. Some do it flawlessly (Ibra) while some struggle (Veron). Very top players might fail to adapt to a new league so it is always a risk getting a player from some other league.

Saying that, if I could choose one of them, then it surely would be Griezmann, even if Sanchez is cheaper.

He was taller and bulkier than Griezmann - Jose would prefer a focal point.

I'd say Sanchez is even a better anchor striker than Griezmann even though I hardly have seen him play upfront.

He was under 6ft though, and your point seemed to infer that Jose only plays with strikers that offer a physical presence.

Eto'o is only 2 inches bigger than Griezmann, I don't think that's grounds to declare Jose as not a fan.

I might be remembering incorrectly, but I seem to recall Eto'o playing wide with Milito being the CF at Inter.

I think he was mainly a right forward, but I'm sure he played through the middle under Jose too.

At this point I really feel for Arsenal fans. If he left because he saw no chance to win with Arsenal - fair enough. But he will leave due to an unnecessary drama which could be easily avoided. I just refuse to believe they couldn't offer him this extra 100k/week.

I don't know why people think he wouldn't join us. We're clearly on the up at the moment, we can offer him good wages and we actually want to compete for the title rather than stand still.

As for petulance, the man wants to win things. He's a winner. I want that attitude at United. Someone who gets frustrated with his team when they get absolutely battered in Europe? Exactly the type of player I want in my squad. Especially when he still gives 100% on the pitch like he did for Arsenal vs Liverpool.

I don't like his dramatics this season, but I do understand his frustration, think the Arsenal squad is too 'nice'.

Ah that's fair enough, my memory is shite.
He was class.
