Alexandre Pato

I`m not saying he is good or whatever but the people who really should comment if he is shit are the ones that watch him week in week out. Obviously he won't be a world beater but just might doe enough to boost our season.

Yeah mate as @ivaldo said, I was being completely sarcastic. I obviously haven't seen any of him in Brazil but as I alluded to earlier, I always loved watching him at Milan and thought he was destined for the very top.

He is a coward, that's why he went to the Brasillian league because he couldn't put up the fight in Europe anymore.

Don't want him anywhere near Manchester as we would obviously get scammed by his agent into offering him humungus wages.

We need a world class striker like Lewandowski.

If he's available for cheap, then I'd just sign him to satisfy my nostalgic inner muppet.

Imagine going back in time 5 years and telling your earlier self that we'd eventually have RVP, Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger and Pato on our books

Yeah, obviously. They'd probably send him an email saying he's got some money due to him, he'd reply with our bank details and before you know it they've bankrupted us, bloody thieving Brazilians.

But would you be tempted to ruin it for them by also mentioning that it will be the most unsuccessful period for us in the last twenty years?

Just buy him. We not getting anyone else exciting plus we can afford for him to be a flop lol.

Was going to come here and discuss him before I saw the bump. Great goal last night, and his 25th of the year I believe. He would be a perfect option for cover in January. I can understand the reservations before we signed Martial, but as an extra option Pato would be a no brainer as he still has quality and is young. If we could do a loan deal it would make sense I think. We are light in attack, and Fellaini is no striker.

A lot of the Brazilian experts say he's been fantastic for 18 months. Won't be surprised to see him back in Europe soon.

goodluck to him...but as I repeated all over the window, there is zero chance of us signing him and it was merely his agent using top european club's names to advertize his client....we are rebuilding , id rather sign young players with potential than waste money on him...having just gone through a period of selling 'just needs one more chance ' kind of players, we arent signing another.

The guy is a sky correspondent according to his bio and also the Brazil's head researcher for football manager. I think this might just be true. Will we go for him in january? On other hand 24 goals in 2015 seem like a good return, would like to know his injury record and what kind of level is he playing at first.

It was the brazillian media that said Firmino had a medical with us,and was on the verge of signing. Turns out we had no interest.

Manchester United have been one the highest spenders in recent seasons, of course every BS merchant agent will link us with their players to drive up interest. Just during the last window, we apparently were interested in Fabinho, Dante, that brazillian kid that we were supposedly paying 20 mil for (the name escapes me), all reports from Brazil, i see a trend here....and thats just this season...again, we are not signing Pato.

No we are not, but its strange pato himself said to brazilian tv that united made ab offer to him 2 hours before deadline. Silly thing to make up by the player himself isnt it?

They said he had a medical with an English club but were not specific.

I seriously doubt we would leave it only 2 hrs. I think the player/agent was a move and they dropped our name in it. See if he goes anywhere in Jan

it specifically said united...its in the transfer forum somewhere, the guy who broke it apparently worked for espn and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon..... and firmino did not have a medical until after those reports had been reported, and suprisingly it wasnt with man utd...we are just an easy target for transfer bs...united get clicks, thats all

I said at the time that we should give him a go at the incredibly cheap price he was being tagged with (under £10m). How could we possibly go wrong for that price? And if he were to regain even 80% of what he was....don't think it'll happen now though.

Not really, he needs to market himself and he knows that....coupled with that daily mail ad, him and his agent are working overtime in doing that... I cant remember how many players have used the old trick of ''United were interested in me....but''.....didnt the Brazillian window close long before the English one? I cant see Pato playing for a club as big as United again...

So, his agent whores him around Europe all summer, even buys some space in the English papers to offer him around and when he has an offer from United he decides not to tell Pato about it until after the transfer window closes... Sounds legit.

I wouldnt be against signing him now, although i was in the summer if he was our only option. That story is bullshit though. Brazilian media and agents at its best

It's his own quotes that its based on. He himself confirmed that we were interested in him.

He's not exactly old though is he? Only 25. If he recovers half of his potential from years a go, I wouldn't mind him at United. But as many people already mentioned, not on unrealistic 100+k/week wages.

We are at the stage where we are rebuilding for the future..we dont need to take wild punts on players..Rather go for the top top talent, even though the cost may be high now..I have seen enough punts on people like Owen, Obertan, Tosic and Bebe to last me a lifetime. You may argue that he has better talent than those, he's shown none of that in a long long time. We have to get back to a stage where we are constantly challenging Barca, Madrid and Bayern, we are that big enough. They wouldnt be going for him, he's bound to join a much smaller club if he returns to Europe.

People have this over romanticized view of what he was when he was younger, and what he would supposedly become. Its sentimentality, its the same thing as when someone started a thread about resigning Berbatov just a few weeks ago, with surprisingly a lot of people clamoring for it. He then joined some Greek pub side. United can do so much better, and from our signings under LVG , it is evident that is what we are trying to do. I applaud him for that.

Honestly though, I dont want him because of romanticized view of anything. I want because him because the chances of us getting the absolute top draw players are slim to nothing. We've been linked with Bale, Neymar, Gundogan, Gotze, Reus, and I want them to come, but its not happening. I don't know why because in terms of money we can buy anyone. So rather than not having anyone at all, I'd rather have someone like Pato. We're absolutely thin upfront after all for 4 competitions. If he has half the class from years ago, and we can get him for 5-10mil and reasonable wages, I'd welcome him with open arms.

We aren't going to get top class talent to be our 3rd choice centre forward though, and if we were to sign quality youth then they'd need game time, something they wouldn't get being behind Martial and Rooney for one slot.

We dont need to sign Galaticos though..we need to sign emerging talents , and with our wide scouting network, we can achieve that..Not someone with a iffy injury record that has already struggled in Europe.

The bolded part, its the same thing we kept saying with our own players..just one more3 chance, if he could just get fit etc..We cant be signing someone on the supposed class he showed 5 years ago..and I am confident we wont.

Give those minutes to Wilson instead then..we have always promoted youth, and the price that comes with that is that you have to take risks by actually giving them games to see how they do.

Pato got his chance as a youngster at a top European club, he failed and went back home(For whatever reason). Lets give our own youngsters a chance too.
