He can play fine centrally too though, we've already seen that before.

His recent pick up in form came when Osorio (colombian manager who worked at man city at some point) transformed him into a right forward/winger.. centrally he still is a bit average

According to Wiki he has 26 goals in 77 appearances since going back to Brazil in 2013.

Hardly setting the world alight there. And quite frankly, if he can't prosper in Brazil, he hasn't got a hope in the PL.

It can be our best signing ever, but it can also be 10m straight down the drain. And unfortunately the chances of the second option are far higher then the first.

But goddammit that guy used to be absolutely amazing. And still has the potential to become the best striker on this planet if he can remain fit and recover.

Sam you're such a pessimistic poster. What made you this way?

For £10m I would - two footed, takes men on, good finisher, wouldn't be a bad backup option (we had Falcao last year, he can't be that bad!). Injuries don't seem to have killed his movement or pace from what I have seen, so he would be worth a punt.

Wilson needs to go out on loan, get some 1st team action in the PL being 2nd or 3rd choice here isn't going to do him much good because right now he is too limited a player to lead the line for us.

That logic is on par with if he can't get into Fiorentina's side then he won't make it at United.

If he can't hack it in a 4th rate league it stands to reason that he'd struggle in one of the top 3 leagues in the world that has a very physically demanding style.

Sounds like simplistic fan logic rather than how a club would look at it. If scouts evaluate him on a variety of criteria including his attitude, and recommend him, he will sign with a Prem club irrespective of his Brazil record. He has already proven himself capable of performing well in a European league, so I don't think that will be an issue.

It sounds like sound logic, an injury riddled player that is struggling in a low quality league where tackling is in short supply is going to struggle in a much better league, all the rest is bullshit "process" stuff. Players who have actually performed well in good leagues have struggled with the move.

Bayern bought a lackluster - or so I've heard - Costa from Russia who is performing extremely well in Germany. Past performance can be a poor indicator of future performances.

Also you guys are underselling him, 9 in 30 for Corinthians and 17 in 47 for Sao Paolo: a clear upward trend.

Can't compare Douglas Costa to Pato, Costa is miles ahead.

This is not even remotely true... Costa was always good and performed well even in big competitions.

Berba, Pato, Berahino...anything is fine by me...even Ole Solskjaer...just sign someone ffs

I still remember a 17/18 year old Pato tearing teams apart in Italy and the Champions league. I thought he would win the Ballon d'Or someday. :( He went to shit the moment he met Barbara Berlusconi together with Milan trying to put too much muscle on him too fast which totally killed his balance and made him suffer numerous muscular injuries. He was mismanaged very early on in his career which totally ruined any chance he had at becoming one of the best players and it's such a shame because he had the potential to be remembered as a great.

I used to love watching this guy play and he seemed destined for the very top. Him leaving Milan was more due to personal reasons and injury problems as opposed to his performances. He had the world at his feet at 17 years of age and he kind of threw it away. I'm on the fence about whether I would want to sign him or not. He's a low risk gamble really.

Am I right in thinking he is being played as a winger as opposed to a centre forward?

Is Luke Chadwick now officially the only player we haven't been linked with this summer

He's shit. There's a 'hilarious' YouTube video of a miss. I mean, that says it all.

I`m not saying he is good or whatever but the people who really should comment if he is shit are the ones that watch him week in week out. Obviously he won't be a world beater but just might doe enough to boost our season.

I don't think Robbie was being serious chap.

I don't think i replied to the correct post :) But my point stands.
Ah I won't disagree with you there.

I wouldn't be adverse to getting him, 10mil really isn't much of a risk in the current climate, his wage demands would also be pretty reasonable.

In that case his scoring record really isn't that bad.
He is São Paulo's top scorer and the second top scorer of Brazileirão. He is mostly playing as a left winger and has 20 goals and 6 assists in 39 games this season. Last year was 12 goals and 5 assists in 39 games. He had never been injured throughout this two whole seasons.

Contrary to what most people in here believe, he is not doing terribly in the Brazil league and is not injury prone.
