We dont need to sign Galaticos though..we need to sign emerging talents , and with our wide scouting network, we can achieve that..Not someone with a iffy injury record that has already struggled in Europe.
This is 100% what we should be doing, rather than trying to get galacticos with ten times the price. Dont know why we're not linked with more young talents like Tielemans.
Give those minutes to Wilson instead then..we have always promoted youth, and the price that comes with that is that you have to take risks by actually giving them games to see how they do.
Dont know why Wilson is suddenly out of favor with Lvg.

Its just my opinion, but I do not want the galatico signings..signing younger players with talent(not necessarily punts like Tosic, Obertan, but those with genuine talent and standouts , like a Rooney at his age where you were sure)...Thats the way we should go. Tielemans is a good example, although he signed a new contract there.

Its the way we should go, we dont need stars for publicity purposes either. We can turn players into megastars. One of the biggest reasons why Ronaldo and Beckham have become so marketable is because of their United connection.

Absolutely agree! That's the type of players we should go for - Rio, Rooney, Ronaldo, Shaw, de Gea were all basically looked upon as dead certs to make it when bought. Then sprinkle with the occasional ready made top player like BFS

Pato got his chance as a youngster at a top European club, he failed and went back home(For whatever reason). Lets give our own youngsters a chance too.
Although I don't necessarily disagree Wilson isn't even making the bench right now, I'd much prefer him to go out on loan to get regular football. That would leave us too light up top so bringing in someone who feels they need to prove themselves for a very modest fee would make sense, he's also flexible and can play in any of the front 4 positions.

Yes, Roy Keane also fits that criteria too..He was a good player who took that next step by playing with better players... then we can consider adding a sprinkle dust of established players too , but that should not be the main focus imo.

From what I have heard, Lvg prefers to keep his players over sending them on loan, to keep them learning the philosophy..We can get someone else in European football without a massive injury record, and possibly younger..but the first choice should be promoting our own youth..If we cant produce someone good enough to be our third choice, then something will be very wrong with our academy. We need to start rotating more, so hopefully Wilson will start getting more game time.

Well at least it's good news that we recognised our need for more cover up front.

No one will convince me his talent has just dried up. He is only 25 and finally over the injury issues that ruined his first stint in Europe. I have little doubt a signing like him would prove a real asset to us.

Not sure he isn't just making it all up.
Most likely.United made a bid for him and he only knew about much later?..He and his agent have been trying to shop him around all summer, linked with plenty of premiership clubs, I can see him at a Stoke, but not anywhere higher.

Just think of the Brazillian players we are linked with, its obvious we provide good clickbait in Brazil.

dodged a bullet, not another Kleberson, there's reason he's back in Brasil, not good enough for us.

Because when he's played him, he hasn't shown himself to be good enough. I'd imagine he'd then need to perform really well in training to get a look in, and probably isn't.

Whats going on here?

No one will convince me his talent hasn't dried up. He is already 25 and suffered the injury issues that ruined his first stint in Europe. I have a lot of doubt a signing like him would prove a real asset to us.

We've actually been scouting Tielemans for years and scouted him again last week. We tried to sign him before he signed pro with Anderlecht but his family wanted him to finish school. He's a United fan as well.

He's still 25, and finally stopped getting the injuries that hampered his development in Europe. Therefore I am almost certain a signing like Pato would be positive for United.

He's most likely still got it, he's not even 26 yet and probably over his injury problems. I can't imagine we'd do badly out of signing him.

Looks like we made an offer two hours before the window shut (why the feck would we do that when he's in Brazil?)

I reckon we'll get him in January.

more than happy to have him in the squad

Could be a good move, add a bit of squad depth. If it doesn't work out just ship him back to Brazil. Also, would be eligible for Champions League, assuming we're still in the competition by then.

An offer that even he didnt know about at all at the time, but now supposedly does? Since when do football clubs do that....clubs go through the players first..I call BS on this..and please quote this on the 31st of Jan as we wont be signing him.

Well it did seem a bit silly, just reporting what was said.

I do reckon we might try and get him though, or at least someone similar as cover.

I wouldnt want him, if we are to sign players from brazil well gabriel jesus is the one i would want. I would like we buy players like martial and then see them become stars.
More buys like tielmans, embolo, ruben neves, oliver torress etc
I would rather pay 15 million for them than pato.

Thats what I have been preaching here too..Its not that I hate Pato, but that would be going back to the silly habits of the past..lets build on from here..Even Chelsea got a potential superstar in Kennedy from the Brazillian league..we can find young talent there, without the baggage of Pato.

I remember years ago when Pato and Aguero were the two big prospects touted about. The difference now is chalk and cheese.

At this stage, I dont think he would be a good buy. Not convinced at all by his ability to adapt to the PL. If we are going for a striker then I would just go all-in for Muller or Benzema.

We tried this and Rummenigge took out the media equivalent of a restraining order.

Its like when there is a girl you fancy who is out of your league, you cant just give up when they say no or take out a restraining order. Persistence is the key.

His goal against Barca in the CL was awesome, he did that so spontaneously. Too bad injuries held him back.

As Gaitan's agent knows only too well.

The problem is I don't think we can afford to not buy another foward in January. The problem is further exacerbated with the likely loan of James Wilson. He's been in top form for the past 18months and if we can do a cut price deal, we should do it.
