Aleksandr Golovin

It's not a reddit rumour, they're just talking about the Di Marzio article.

He said we want a striker and a young CM to take the place of Fellaini if he leaves.

Found the link, but looks like I mixed up the CM which is Fred -

Yeah I found this one after I read the first comment. But this guy only mentions Griezmann and nothing about a young CM or RB. He mentions Dalot and Fred because they also have release clauses but we aren't activating them.

Golovin has a lot of potential. Technically and workrate-wise he's got everything needed to develop into an excellent CM, also already has a good vision\decision-making feel about his playing. Possibly a bit lightweight for some tactical setups in a better league, and would maybe need to focus on developing certain things rather than trying to be such an all-action player, it's hard to say if he's physically up to carrying that sort of veratility up the leagues.

Overall though i'd say he has an argument for being among the best 2-3 Eastern European CM prospects since Modric, who was on a similar level to Golovin right now when i started following him in his last season at Zagreb, with similar questions in my mind as to how he would step up.

However, though it's much better than staying in the RPL, i wouldn't favour him going to a team quite as big as Manchester United. Russian football has fallen into a really bad way this past decade, which is the first where the post-soviet football systems(or lack of them) have had to entirely stand on their own two feet and been found entirely lacking. With such a slim production line of players this generation and players staying at home being the norm, the pressure and expectation on him from the Russian sports media would be considerable. I'd prefer him to go somewhere where less is expected to get used to a new culture and tougher league, as Russian\ukrainian players seem to have a harder time adapting in general, even without much pressure than players from most other European countries.

tbf, a lot of that struggle was down to the unique challenges facing the late 80s\early 90s players being the first to move abroad and having to tackle the massive changes in coming from a communist setup. Those issues aren't there anymore, so maybe i'm just too cautious but with such a small tradition of moving abroad(only really one and a half generations of players) and seeing recent players like Yarmolenko, Zhirkov(though there were bad knee injuries at play there too) and others have a tough time, i'd err on the side of caution with any player that is still a prospect. I'd want him to get much more playing time than Zinchenko has at Manchester City

players playing in meah leagues should move to a better league once they hit their early 20s. That makes them more malleable to the changes needed by them to reach the level expected in a better league. As they say, you can't teach new tricks to an old dog.

The last Player we let go we didn’t want to let go was Ballack. 12 years ago. And even he had to run down his contract. So, go figure why this isn’t such a likely transfer.

I didn't say it was likely did I ? But every player has a price, and as a non German he'd be easier to tempt away from Bayern than a German player as they seem obliged to stay until they're not wanted.

Know nothing about him but I'd like to have a Russian on the team.

Edit: just googled him. Looks like a russian Herrera. I like it.

I thought the Cafe wanted us to buy the De Ligts rather than the Alderweirelds.
Why is everyone suddenly having a problem with us buying the best upcoming players?
Oh because we need quality now
Then what's wrong with Toby and Sandro?
Too old?
Well experience comes with age, there are very few proven accomplished players aged 22-25

True! ❤️

Was being mentioned by commentators all the time when we played his side and did look very accomplished and talented on the ball. Personally I think this is just a bs rumour from journalists due to Mourinho watching the game.
Firstly dont see how he is being mentioned as a replacement for Mata when he is a central midfielder and I dont see him being a Mourinho type signing either, dont really see where he would fit in to our side under Mourinho.
Saying that, although there is the risk culture wise as a lot of players from the area have struggle to adapt to the premiership, if £15m is the kind of fee he is a ridiculous bargain for somebody, in todays market he should be up to 3x that price

Aleksandr Golovin is an attacking Midfielder who can also play wide. For 15 million and still only 22, he is a steal.

Golovin's skillset and physical abilities looks a lot like a young Luka Modric. Good with both feet shifting the ball to get by defenders, carry the ball forward, pass and shoot. Looks like a bargain for 15m.

Man that's cheap.. I mean for that price all 20 clubs in the epl should be bidding for him.

Don't know if it's the standard of the League, and there will always be exceptions, but compared to the prices of players from the Ukrainian League(for example) the top Russian players are, and nearly always have been dirt cheap - maybe it is because they are all programmed

Apparently this is a questionnaire from his youth days. Favourite national team — Portugal, favourite club — Manchester United.
Not that it matters much.

Horrible handwriting, all over the place, shows lack of discipline.
Do not want

Even at that price, fecking Juve trying to use a discount code. I really liked Golovin when he played us though, and definitely see some Modric in him.

If he goes to Juve I’d be happy if we went for Barella though, although Cagliari seem to be asking a fair bit more for him.

It's just players from Shahtar though. You will struggle to get same prices for players from the rest of the league.

I'm surprised we're not interested in Golovin. He looks like he was made for our midfield. But I suppose I should trust the experts.

I suspect after Fred jose will go for taller physical CM to replace MF.
