Aleksandr Golovin

From what I remember Arshavin was quite productive despite often not really influencing the game in the way that people hoped he would. Think he was sometimes (often?) played on the left too when he was really a central player

Yeah, Wenger usually used him on the wing, although it wasn't his best position

Mostovoi, Karpin, Kanchelskis
Well if you’re including Ukrainian players then why no shevchenko?

Then there’s at least kuznetsov and mikhailachenko who played for rangers

Cheryshev currently plays in Spain, I’m sure there are others

Should I say that Seedorf is Surinamese?

Rest, as Russia is already in the 1/8, and it's not even a given that the 1st place is better than the second (that depends on Spain's and Portugal's games later). Mario Fernandes and Zhirkov (although he had some health issues) are on the bench as well. I'm pretty sure that Golovin with Fernandes covered the most ground in the first 2 games.
Do Russia get a bye through the next round? You're the second person I've seen today say they're through to the quarters.

Where have I said that they're through to the quarters? They are through to the 1/8 — as the second best team of the group. I seriously doubt that they'll continue further, seeing as it's either Spain or Portugal they'll face (or an almost impossible Iran).

What does 1/8 mean then? I would assume that means the quarters. 8 teams left in the tournament, am I wrong?

I have never heard that before. I would judge on the teams left. 1/8 being the quarter finals, because there are 8 teams left. I've always heard the second round being called round of 16
Ask yourself, what does a "quarter" mean? Or a "semi" in a semifinal (again, literally, a half — which means 1/2)

Quarters has always been 1/4? I mean 1/4 is literally a quarter.
No I'm not disputing that, I've just never heard calling the second round the 1/8. I'm just being dumb while seeing something for the first time

If it makes you feel any better I've never seen it referred to it as that either, usually RO16.

What would you say Golovin's chances of moving this summer are, 1/8? Or 1/4, which is 1 in 4 or 25%. 1/8 is 12.5%, or 12.5 in 100.

Juventus are trying hard for this kid, they have a brilliant approach with young talented players buying them for cheap and making huge profits if the player wants to leave later on. Would've loved to see us in for a player of his profile.

Juve have the league to bed in these youngsters. They have the time frame to. United doesn’t have such luxuries.

I think since he is on russian tv and teaching i assume russian players he is using a russian players name who hw doesnt seem to remember fully also.

Jose praising Golovin here at 2:00.

I'm such a dumb feck, I watched the first 2 minutes of that thinking it was recorded with Mourinho when Golovin was a 12 year old:wenger:

Looked good at this tournament but yeah wouldn't read much into that at all, if you were to however, I think him barely remembering the guy's name would be quite telling.
