Aleksandr Golovin

What about that young Italian chap from Cagliari, Barella? Wasnt he someone we wanted a few months ago. I would rather him than let him go to Juve on a cheap to turn out a very good midfielder

Barella looks a massive talent tbh. Would not have been disappointed if we pursued that one. He has it all from what I’ve seen across games and highlights.

Maybe the scouts are giving him wrong information ? Maybe they told him these players are taller than what they appear.

“ Mr. Mourinho, in their cleats they are closer to 6ft ”

Fred and Golovin to replace Carrick and Fellaini is a massive step in the right direction imo. Both could develop into quality players, Fred very close to being that already.

I think Fred could play with Pogba and Matic but also in Matic role from time to time. I think Golovin can also play with Matic and Pogba or also spare Pogba.

Good young depth in midfield is never a bad thing.

Never seen him play before but from the vids put up it seems he has high energy levels for the pressing game and he seems to have quick transition from winning the ball back to getting forward. Seems to have bit of pace too. Him and Fred would be good buys.

But..but.. I thought people want some young talents ?

Maybe they want to see our own talents as backups/or chance to develop for the first team from within, guess not for every single position but you know.

How many times are we going to hear this, this summer? Along with TFM at RB.

If we are bringing in players in their positions then they just aren’t rated.
Pereira has barely been given a chance in the 1st team (and on loan he didn't even play in CM this season), so it'd be a premature decision. Mourinho didn't want him to leave on loan either, which I doubt would've been the case if he didn't rate him.

Well this summer will dictate if he’s rated by Mourinho and whether he’s surplus to requirements. He’s had 2 loans and pre seasons to go off. If he’s in the first team great. If we sign somebody else then he just isn’t rated (and subsequently leaves). Let’s wait and see.

McTominay was given chances. It's not like academy players would all become back up for other team even so called famous Barcelona. In this case Pereira wanted to go out on loan himself and on loan he didn't play central midfield that much to suddenly earn him a chance as central midfielder back up.

Players from the Russian league seem that they're usually way off the pace and lack fitness in comparison to the EPL.

It's funny, Mourinho might have just went there just to enjoy the match.

He is doing RT coverage of the world cup and maybe wanted to get a better knowledge of the players?

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/mar/06/jose-mourinho-joins-rt-as-world-cup-pundit

Well we all know where the rumours have come from then. I wasn’t aware of this. All the journalist have put two and two together and got five.

Apart from Alaba, who we cannot buy anyway, there is no other players involved that Jose could remotely be interested in. Russian players rarely move away from the Russian league. And when they do their usually rubbish.

He looks a good player, very good on the ball. Doubt we would buy him and Fredge. I would be very surprised by Jose

People getting a bit carried away here I don't believe for a second he's scouting targets.

Just think about it, we've got a truncated transfer window with a World Cup right in the middle of it. So Jose is scouting potential targets now even though the window has been open for two weeks already.

No way.

He's probably just watching this Russia team so he has something to say on RT.

I'm sure he played against us in the group stages this year? He looked a nifty little player capable of carrying the ball forward, was one of Moscow's main outlets if he is indeed the player I remember.

We never know. What if Mourinho takes the job as disguise to approach players during World Cup? On the other hand, you need to feed the muppets so any gossip is welcomed during the summer

Yep he was their best player by miles, looked pretty decent.

Rumor has it he doesn't want to leave Valencia and might even be sold.
Don't think there's anything in those rumours. This is from an Andy Mitten article from April:
“Valencia approached my agent and said they want to buy me which is flattering, but it wasn’t like it was reported in the media,” he explains. “People said I’d demanded talks with Jose Mourinho when I’ve demanded nothing. The Valencia coach speaks with me a lot and we have a good understanding, but as far as I’m concerned I’m still a Manchester United player, with a contract at Old Trafford until 2020 and an ambition to make it at United. I’ve never sought to leave United.”

Yeah, we'll see.

Very encouraging to see us potentially taking risks on hot prospects at the moment, fresh blood is what our team needs.

Looks like a LCM from highlights, so an alternative to Pogba.

Go on then, why can't we buy him ? And don't say it's because he plays for Bayern

Yeah, thought he looked very handy against Arsenal. Very much doubt we’re in for him mind you. Stranger things have happened though!
Very true! I'm still shocked we got Alexis!
Really like the cut of his job in that video. Reminds me of Modric.
He's in that ilk of midfielders who are great under pressure with fabulous close control, dribbling, and shielding of the ball from pressing players like Modric, D.Silva, Iniesta, etc.

Seems like Mourinho has lost his mind after losing Rui Faria. Golovin, Dalot and Arnautovic? Why are we spending money on average players. If we are really looking to add young talented players.... there are plenty of them who are going for cheap. Barella, Justin Kluivert, Neres, Frankie De Jong, Max Meyer.... plenty of talented players who we could get on the cheap.

Don’t believe everything you read.

That's a pretty ignorant comment haha

Is that why they speed up the videos? With some of these obscure players from random leagues, they often speed up the video a bit, not too much just enough to mimic the tempo of a top level league game.

He looked CSKA's best player against Arsenal in the Europa, but that doesn't say much as Arsenal should've scored about 10 goals in that first home leg. He made some decent passes, protected the ball, has decent technical ability but nothing really stood out aside from that free kick goal. Lightweight with decent potential would be how I'd sum it up.

I'd be flat out lying if I said I was familar with him, but I thought he looked good in the 2 matches against us and against Arsenal in the Europa League that I did see.

From the highlights I've watched of him he seems like a more dynamic and adventurous in possession version of Herrera. His work rate and tenacity does stand out. I could see this being a potentially shrewd option for CM depth.

Dalot is rated as one of the most talented teenagers on world football. Who said we are buying Arnautovic and Golovin anyway?

Arnautotiv is a baffling one but why are Dalot and Golovin 'average' but Justin Kluivert a big talent? Everyone seems to think he's all hype and nothing special.

Its not happening, but he was the best player on the pitch when CSKA played Arsenal.

You don't go to Russia games to enjoy the match  Although, thinking of it, Mourinho doesn't seem to like the conventionally "good" football, so maybe you're onto something here

He's the standout talent in Russia's new generation. It's a shit generation though. He was linked with Arsenal previously and I think they're about his level — although I'll be glad to be proven wrong here. Quite likeable guy as well.

Smolov links are bs.

We seem to be going a different route this window compared to the last two. Dalot, Fred and Golovin would cost less than 85m. We just need one LB and RW and we are set. Maybe the plan is to spend big on these positions (Bale, Sandro).
