Alejandro Garnacho (out) | Chelsea make enquiries

Sure, higher income would cover them as well! Just a bit of a risky calculation looking at our current state
Very true but we're going to have to gamble to an extent at some point soon though. We can't be out of Europe for too long. The loss of Casemiro, Eriksen, Malacia, Garnacho, Lindelof, Evans, Rashford, Antony etc. wages (and hopefully some fees) will certainly help us negate this a little.

There is a fecking fortune to be saved in those players.

SAF also used to rave over Jonathan Greening. Can’t be right all the time. To say Januzaj has more in his locker than Garnacho is a bit far for me.
In terms of natural talent and ability I don't actually think it was even close, I thought Janujaz was miles superior technically. Janujaz should have been a superstar, but squandered his ability.

Garnacho is a good player, well ahead of most 20 year old wingers in the game, but I worry that he's quite one-dimensional. He's good for a couple of highlight reel goals a season but apart from scurrying up and down the touchline like a hare on rails, he's not got much depth to his game.

It's unfortunate, in a sense, that he's homegrown...because if it wasn't for the PSR implications I would be saying "must keep"...but £50m for Garnacho free up £250m for new signings...and I don't think we can turn that down for a lad who's not getting in the team currently.

This is all absolutely insane. He's 20 years old ffs. This is only his third full season as a professional.

Think about how inconsistent Ronaldo was during his 2nd and 3rd seasons.

If this is being done for PSR/FFP reasons then it's another example of football just becoming soulless.

Ronaldo was a freak, will people stop comparing him to Ronaldo

Latest from Italy

Napoli-United , second act. Second round for Alejandro Garnacho today in Milan: there remains a distance - not excessive - which however prevents the deal from taking off for the moment. Napoli has reached 50 million plus bonuses, more or less around 55 million, while United is aiming to secure 60 million plus bonuses. And so the sporting director Manna has tried to reopen contacts with Karim Adeyemi 's entourage , who until a few days ago was firm on his desire not to leave Dortmund . The dismissal of Sahin and the revolution underway at Borussia could change the scene. Value: 45 million. [corsport]

Wasn’t Saka a leftback when he was 20yo?

Like some others posters have said, most of us have absolutely no clue how Garnacho will develop (or there are way more professional scouts than I thought on the Caf)

In any case, we shouldn’t let him go for a small fee because whether we like it or not he is among the best of his age group.

If City signed Khusanov for €40+10m and Lecce prices Dorgu at 30-40m, then surely Garnacho is worth a bit more than 50m on the market - and not per Caf valuation where players are either world class or utter shite

The thought of him going to Chelsea makes me feel ill.

Too much potential to hand him over to a PL rival. If he has to be sold then do a Spurs and ship him off abroad.

Seems like we're getting rid of all our wingers then? Garnacho, Sancho, Antony, and Rashford all leaving/left. Suggest that Amorim isn't going anywhere, no matter how badly this season goes. You don't sell all your wingers just to change manager to another one who wants wingers.

How messed up is this club if we need to sell one of the brightest young players?
Do we need to sell him or are we selling him because he's not that good? He was apparently untouchable in the summer, not available for sale at any price. Fast forward a few months and all of a sudden he's actually for sale. What has happened in that space of time?

The frustrating thing isn't that I care that much whether Garnacho stays or goes; it's that we're leaving it predictably very late for him and Marcus to leave, to such a degree that we're giving ourselves almost no room to negotatiate replacements.

None of which are tactical moves. Garnacho is purely financial, we are selling him to buy other players and bail out the owners, Sancho is removed for disciplinary reasons, Antony is a flop of the highest order and Rashford is about removing toxicity from the dressing room.

They've all been shit in their own way, none of them have made themselves unsellable. Garnacho this season has joined the ranks of shitness, hence the reason he's for sale. He doesn't seem able to adapt to the new system and he won't track back either so there's no place for him.

Sancho went before Amorin was even thought about as our coach, EtH is the only one who valued having Antony and Rashford's not really been a footballer of any note for 2 years, I don't think any manager in future who wanted wingers would have those 3

€80m or no deal. Still one of the most talented young players out there.
